TIPS: For first time solvers that are slow (like me). Pause each step or move, then mimic. Before solving, practice the 4 moves left side and 4 moves right side. I like to say "UP, AWAY, DOWN, and BACK" when doing those 4 moves. This video taught my 10 yo. nephew and 8 year old niece. They did every move on their own.

I am stuck in the hospital for a week. My daughter brought me a cube. I spent a few hours with this video doing it over and over again until I had it memorized. Thanks for helping me learn a new skill while hospitalized! I’ve done it 113 times so far during my stay.
Best video I walked into. You explained how to do everything so straight forward AND told us what mistakes/other scenarios could happen and how to fix them. Thank you! :)
I spent my whole life never thinking I’d be able to solve a cube, and now after just a few hours of practice I can solve one in a couple minutes by memory. Thank you for this video!
In my first try, i took almost 4-5 hours and now i can solve it in 4-5 minutes max, not impressive for cubers but still doing something which seemed almost impossible to do before 😁
I watched this video to learn how to solve the rubik's cube around 2 years ago, now my average solve is 12 seconds. Thank you for getting me into cubing!
The last 3 days on and off, I've been returning to this video, I've messed this cube up about a dozen or so times now, but finally, I've managed to solve it. Thank you
Yea I was so close to solving the cube but somehow I managed to make the yellow colour and fuck up the white 💀 and few turns later, it got scrambled again 💀
In about 3h of continuous practicing I now can solve it without hesitation. You just made one of my childhood dreams come true, I will be forever grateful :D
I watched this video a year ago and solved my first cube very quickly. I got very good at it but stopped doing it for about 6 months and forgot how to solve it again. I watched some other videos and they were no help out all but remembered this one. Found it in my history and rewatched it and I’m able to solve them again :) this is the best video in my opinion, thank you!!
you probably won't see this but I just want to say thanks. I bought a Rubik's cube for my 5 year old as an activity during our 9 hour international flight. we flicked through so many tutorials but found your one to be the best and the clearest. so now my 5 year old (and myself) can solve a Rubik's cube and she loves it so much.
I'm 50 years old and got my first Rubik's Cube when I was 10 and have never been able to solve it. In February 2021 I set out to finally learn how to solve one. Using a bunch of your videos I managed to learn how to do it in about 5 days and went from averaging 5 minutes initially using the beginner method to under 1 minute with the beginner method now in December 2021. I only use the beginner method and can't wait to learn CFOP. Need to master F2L and look ahead first. Me and my kids love your videos! Keep it coming!!!
Bro… I started watching this at 9am, having never tried a Rubik’s cube before. By 1pm, I could solve it all on my own is less than 5 minutes. What an incredible tutorial!!! Thank you!
This is so satisfying! I've never been able to solve a cube and this helped me go from never having solved one, to solving my first cube in 3 hours of watching and rewinding the video, to being able to solve the cube from memory in about 3-4 minutes in one day. Best instructions. Going to practise this a lot more and then watch your other videos to learn other algorithms. Thank you
I now have a solved cube infront of me for the first time ever. All it took was this video and 5 min practise for a week. Thanks mate. you helped me cross off a bucked list item.
Got my first cube this Christmas. I have never solved one before. I watched this video and had it solved in about 30mins. I did get close and have to restart once. But I have a solved cube now. I will have to rewatch a few times to get the algorithms down and when to use them. But what a great tutorial video!
As a 27-year-old who's never been able to solve a cube, I have finally solved the Rubik's brand cube that I was given for my 8th birthday and immediately scrambled. It's been 19 years since this thing has been "right". Thank you so much, J Perm!
I've been subscribed to you for a while, but recently my dad found his old rubix cube (so old that it doesn't have branding), I've been trying to solve it for a while and couldn't remember all the algorithms, though I was doing surprisingly well until I got to the third layer. I couldn't remember anything about how you had said about how to solve the last layer and I had forgotten what the name of your channel was. I'm so glad I found your channel again and I can now proudly say that I've finished my first solve. I'm sure I'll do plenty more in the future.
I've did something that nobody has ever done in the history of Rubik's Cube. I got the world record for the slowest Rubik's Cube solve: 1 Year, 2 days.

Arkapravo Ray can you please explain what you mean. I keep messing up the last step and I don’t know why? Please answer I have been trying to solve this cube for hours.
In the last step when Dylan says corners he means the yellow corners... So you apply the algorithm as Dylan says and look whether the yellow corner is solved or not.. if it is solved then move as he says and it will be solved.
I found this video around 2 years ago when my younger sibling bought a Rubik’s cube and couldn’t solve it, so I decided to attempt to solve it and the same story prevailed until I stumbled upon this video. After staying up till near 3am I had solved my first ever cube. Nearly 2 years on I still use a cube daily, I upgraded to the magnetic gan 11 m pro around a year ago after not being able to get a sub 1 minute on a standard cube due to it’s stiff movement but now after learning several other techniques and upgraded my cube I can now solve a cube in 20 seconds or less. Thank you J Perm.
Thank you for making this video. I just solved my first cube which I got as a gift alomost 3 years back. It took me several hours but it felt like first time when I learned to ride a bike. Pure happiness!
With your instructions I managed to solve a 3x3 rubik cube for the first time. I bought this cube to kill time when am taking breaks so I dont end up hours scrolling on tiktok or other social media. Thanks!

Took me 2 hours, but I finally solved it. Had rubiks cubes for years, but never solved one. Thanks to you, I finally did it! Edit: Been practicing for a while, and got a new PB of 47.6s. If anyone is struggling, just know that once you solve it once, it only gets easier from there. Good luck guys!

Hi. You would use the left side if the white corner is pointing to the left and right side if the white corner is pointing to the right. If the white corner is pointing upwards, I would suggest doing the right side 3 times. With regards to the "flipped in second layer": to get it out, just use the algorithm you would have used to put it in, but with a random yellow piece. With the yellow cross, to remember where to put the yellow edges, think 9 o'clock and quarter past 9 on a clock face.
@@MrDeni23n easier explanation of the flipped second layer one Ok basically think of it as like inserting a piece but in this case to remove the flipped so if it's to the left/right just go back in the video then do the same steps as in your inserting it then just do it normally after
So my girlfriend wanted me teach her how to solve the cube. I told her I'd love to but made sure she knew this wasn't something people learn overnight. I sat on FT with her for 30 minutes and watched her solve it herself. No online resources. No book. Nothing. The next evening she was able to replicate the method she used and it was pretty similar to a standard LbL method. Turns out she remembered everything from the one time I showed her how I solve the cube using CFOP. She was able to take the fundamentals of solving one layer and apply that same logic to solve the second layer intuitively. For the last layer she spent a bit experimenting with different algorithms that maintain the first two layers and ended up coming up with the standard F(sexy)F' and Sune. She found ways to apply those to solve edged. Then she was able to go back to first layer corner logic to solve LL corners. I suspect that the first time she may have ended up with a slipped step because there's just no fucking way that anyone could do that in 30 minutes but it's time like these that remind me how wickedly smart she is. Up until now, I was the only person I knew personally who had learmed 3x3 without online resources and it took me close to a week and was equated to around 8 hours time. She did it in 30 minutes and was able to replicate it. Last night she figured out the basics of F2L, once again only off of my previous descriptions of the concept. I know this is a random comment section on TH-cam and nobody came here to read this but if this doesn't prove that anyone can solve the cube, I don't know what does.
The satisfaction of solving the Rubik's Cube is amazing. Even though it took me 2 hours+ and a massive headache but when I solved it, the feeling of accomplishment hahah

I have had my cube just sitting there for years at this point, and after watching many cubing videos I got the courage I needed to solve it. This video was the one that finally helped me bring my cube back to glory. This video had amazing instructions, I also love how you went slow at first to make sure everybody understood, and then started going at a more fast pace. You probably won’t read this comment. But you have helped me and so many more people finally rest knowing the cube has finally been brought back to its original form.
bruh same my cube was just there in my room looking me ASKING TO BE SLOVED but my little brain here couldn't and i just left it like that but after i started watching cubing videos and started to feel like trying to solve that cub and i started and i was better and i saw this vid haven't try the moves but as i'm typing this i'm grabbing cub with all hop of me solving the cub wish me luck
Yeah same. Not for years tho. I've already did everything except the last layer, i did the top cross and did 2 corners, it's so confusing. But after i solve it i want to try solve it on my own, without any help. I doubt i can do that though.
Practiced for an entire week for at least an hour a day and have finally learned the formulas needed for each level. I am now able to solve a rubik cube on my own. The next step is to do it a bit quicker. My current time is 3-5 minutes. Under 3 minutes is the goal and from there I’ll see if I can achieve less than 2 minutes. Thank you for this tutorial! A new hobby and skill has been achieved
I learned from this tutorial and solved it completely. It's not possible to address your issue in comments in a manner that is easily understandable but I'll suggest you should watch the video more and more and practice each step numerous times so that the moves become really familiar to you. It'll be. Trust me.
i know how you feel. In my case, I found the reason. In the last step when the yellow tile i work already on right button sometimes i forgot to move last step (only three moves instead of 4) resulting i messed the cube. Make sure to move 4 ways: up->left->down->right every time
I actually managed to get it solved for the first time in my life in 40 minutes, and now after like 5 tries with the tutorial I can solve it myself in less than 10 minutes. That's just crazy.
@@ItzRJ118 Have you used this beginner method to solve it THIS fast? My PB is 2min 30sec and I can't get it solved under 2min, unless i get a really easy scrumble.
To quote @NotPython "whenever I messed up the final step, it was due to me not doing the last turn of the 4 move algorithm". Indeed, we get so excited in the last layer that whenever we match a corner, we forget to do the final turn!
@@ANorseHorse @NotPython deserves all the credit. I was in the exact same situation as you. I just "retweeted" his remark to all the relevant comments hoping to help someone. The funny thing is that although I was successful at solving the cube at first, at some point I consistently started messing up the last layer. Lesson learned: when you think you are finally good with something (like solving the cube), the possibility of making a mistake increases.
Jaydenbocco that "stuff" is important and is going to help you finish the cube without seeing this tutorial over and over again and in my opinion that "stuff" is less confusing as in I learned how to solve the 2x2 by learning that "stuff"
I memorized the algorithms in high school and got pretty good. Lost all my cubes overtime and just forgot about it until recently. Muscle memory is crazy. Solved the cube after watching this once and writing down some notes. Feels good to be back.
Same. I think I never managed to fully solve it or I’m not sure, but when I saw the comments I kinda got too lazy to do them together, plus I wanted to think on my own. Took me sometime, but definitely not as long as the others, plus I did it during breaks.
Step 5 doesn't always work it works with pure luck. The first 2 times trying it worked well and now I'm trying to do it and did the moves he asked me to about 10 times with no result
@@JPerm i get stuck at the yellow side when im matching all the pieces the white side gets messed up but the yellow solves ik this method works ive done it b4 but i havnt been able to since

Had to do this VERY slowly and making notes as I went so I could follow my own instructions later. But I got there, thanks to your incredibly clear video. Never thought I'd be able to solve the Rubik's cube, it had all our family stumped when it was first launched in the 1970s!
Took me about an hour and restarting 4 times to get my first solve using this. But I kept getting quicker. Directly after solving it I scrambled it again and managed to get it back to 2 corners left from memory. Really cool how you can see yourself improve in real time.
Do the same steps he mentioned to move a piece from top edge to middle layer. Move away, take corner out with left or right hand move, put corner back with the other hand.
@@emmakenyon1967 I have found a way that works for me, and I think it's what he meant in the video. If anyone knows a more efficient way, please chime in. In the scenario at 5:35, hold the cube just like he is with the 'flipped' square in that spot, and do the exact same moves shown from 4:46 - 5:00. It makes it so that you have a top edge piece that does not have yellow, which is what you needed. It allows you to continue the process that he starts explaining at 4:14 (finding the non-yellow top edge pieces, lining them up, etc), until the 2nd layer is solved.
i used to know how to solve one and memorized all the algorithms and was even able to solve it under a minute but i forgot because i found other interests but quarantine brought me here.

When you get to the part where you have to create the yellow cross, does it matter weather it has yellow corners or is it not able to be accomplished unless you create the yellow cross without yellow corners?
It took me all day. I almost had it 3 or 4 times, but somehow I screwed it up. I finally got it though. I'm gonna frame this sucker. It only took me 41 years total. I'm not kidding. I was around when they first came out.

I THINK I BROKE THE RECORD!!... Longest time spent solving a rubik's cube: 10 hours! Yes!!!

Thank you. I have been trying to learn how to solve the rubic for the last 40 years. You taught me in one video. The simpliest tutorial. ❤
That’s Cool!
Thats pretty cool, but you just said that your girl is smart and then said if she can do it everyone can and i see it kind of contradicting

Feels good to be back.
sameeeeee
That's really cool
@@MyMy-ud2uh me tooooo
Same. I think I never managed to fully solve it or I’m not sure, but when I saw the comments I kinda got too lazy to do them together, plus I wanted to think on my own. Took me sometime, but definitely not as long as the others, plus I did it during breaks.
Finally! Solved it for my first time!!! 😄
I hope this video never dies and people are still watching it 20 years from now

This doesn't work
@@whydo_ilive3460 It does
Step 5 doesn't always work it works with pure luck. The first 2 times trying it worked well and now I'm trying to do it and did the moves he asked me to about 10 times with no result

Thank You so much. Bucket list item crossed.

You knew that was coming but that 'oh' was so hilarious XD
No wonder it’s got 21 M views, the best straight forward technique. Got my first solve because of this video. Love it. Thank you for the great content!!!
Exactly, it's a wonder how well this technique works as it's simple too.
Yeah. It helped me a lot. Without this video, I will never know how to slove it. Or maybe it will take 1000 years to get it done. LOL🤣

What do you mean that was slow

@@cloudz4586 agree I learned in 1 hour because of this... it was quite slow and the end part was already taught by him at beginning part of video I mean the 4 move

Wow this really worked! Thank you I’ve never been able to figure it out but with your help I finally did!

Imma buy one and solve then commit sui lmao
I’m in the exact situation as you, and I just did it
Well done. I got to one corner and have messed it up 3 times!!
Took me several tries and nearly a day... But finally have solved my first ever cube... Can't even tell how much this achievement made me happy...
I started playing with the Rubik when I was 5, never was able to finish it by myself... today I'm 30 and I finally finished it! thanks to you bro!
Same but I feel like I'm cheating but watching this video
@@Notarxbot It's not cheating, once you finally know how to do it you're gonna be able to do it consistently.

@@sotmh7-34 amen
@sightofreality No I meant I can solve it without watching any video since I practised for weeks.
This isn’t a real comment 💀
wha
He it took me a week and 999999 times restarting
SAME
Took me a year
i don’t know how to put a random piece in there I DONT KNOW HOW TO PUT A RANDOM PIECE IN THERE
Do the same steps he mentioned to move a piece from top edge to middle layer. Move away, take corner out with left or right hand move, put corner back with the other hand.
@@pk3 timestamp when he gives the instructions you mean?
Praveen Krishnan time stamp it pleaseeee
Sugar Negus just switch the corner here, you see how it matches up? NO?! WHAT ARE YOU POINTING AT?!
I just love how almost everyone in the comments is only solving a Rubik cube cuz of quarantine, even tho this video was posted 2 years ago hahahah
Ha ha me too 😂
same
@@SecretRevelation So true but I actually got it with this video lol.
Yeeesss
i used to know how to solve one and memorized all the algorithms and was even able to solve it under a minute but i forgot because i found other interests but quarantine brought me here.
thank you for helping me solve my 1st cube,I was very proud of myself and i felt like a winner
It took me over 30 years to take on this task. Last night I just decided that now is the time to learn this. Thanks to this video I have now solved it over ten times!
