I agree with you so much on Morrissey fandom. People think we:re crazy, but we're just passionate. Morrissey is such a singular and intelligent artist. Way above anyone is in the pop music scene, as far as I can see. Im going to see him later this year for the first time. I cannot wait. Great list, btw
Very entertaining sir - his best band was with Alaine White and Boz Boorer with Gary on bass and Spencer on drums circa1991 till 2004. The Rockabilly look and sound on some of Kill Uncle was genius. Both continually wrote the music for his classic tracks and live they were all amazing. Sadly I gave up in later years after Low In High School but still some good tracks and live he is still the best.
Solid rankings. Regarding Southpaw Grammar, I think the best song from that album/era is actually a b-side to Dagenham Dave called 'Nobody Loves Us.' Why that excellent song was not included on the album proper is a mystery to me.
Always feel alone in my love for Piccadilly Palare. I would flip Viva Hate and Maladjusted. I love the rock sound of South Paw would push way up. Was at the Quarry Wiltern week, highlight of my existence Anymore who reads the autobiography will see through the "cancel" I would have My Early Burglary Years near top
The Quarry tour was possibly the highlight of my life as well. I’m a little surprised that you would flip Viva Hate, and Maladjusted, though I do LOVE Maladjusted. I think my main complaint about Southpaw Grammar is the production. Also, if Nobody Loves Us ends up on the album, it jumps up a couple spots just for that reason alone. In hindsight, I should have included Burglary Years on the ranking, I love that record as well.
Low In High School is definitely an under appreciated one. It’s really solid. Home Is A Question Mark is a great song off that one as well, in addition to the ones you mentioned.
As lifelong fan, enjoyed this lots. I think you should have included The Smiths albums Hat Full of Hollows and The World Won't Listen. Although they may not be official albums, like Bona Drag. They still contain lots of classics not on any of the albums and definitely meet the same criteria given for rightfully including Bona Drag. Both of these would have been in the top 10 if they were included. So, I thought that was that was a shame
I love Maladjusted. I know it has it’s detractors, but I think it’s an outstanding record. Admittedly I might be a little bit biased, because it is a sentimental record for me. That is the first tour I ever saw, if you haven’t seen the big guy live before, you’re in for a life changing experience.
I've been a fan for many many years but I know I haven't heard all of his music. I think I started to really listen to him in the early 90's. It's strange to see him in his 60's now...
Yeah, I don’t know why but I’ve never liked that song. I don’t know what it is, it hasn’t ever stuck to me. If you like it, that’s great. That’s the great thing about music, it’s so subjective.
Good God man! Southpaw grammar last? That is probably Moz's hardest effort. Dagenham Dave is forever my favorite Moz song. Boy racer is wonderful. I've seen Moz about 10 times and he's never did Dagenham Dave. That kills me. Southpaw album production is just wicked strong and powerful.
Yep, you got that right! That’s my hill, and I’m willing to die on it!!! Ha! I don’t think it’s a bad song, I like the music and the lyrics. The thing about the song that wears thin, at least in my opinion, is the overly repetitive use of the chorus. Just over and over and over again. I think it’s cool if you love the tune. I’m never gonna hate on somebody’s love of anything by the big guy.
I like most of your rankings but my rankings would probably come closer to the release date (oldest best to newest not so great). I must say, I’m shocked out of my mind that Louder Than Bombs is not included at all in your rankings?!? That album could take the place of at least a half a dozen albums in your rankings! Oscillate Wildly is my least favorite as there are no lyrics, but otherwise, LtB is amazing from start to finish. I love what you said about the cancel culture. Morrissey thinks animal slaughterers/torturers are a subspecies and terrorists are the scum of the earth. Wow! Controversial lol!
In hindsight, I completely agree that I should’ve included Louder Than Bombs. I was on the fence about it at the time, and I landed on the wrong side of that one. Yeah, Morrissey is a real Nazi, isn’t he?!? 😂
“A heartless hand on my shoulder, a push and it’s over, alabaster crashes down, six months is a long time. I tried living in the real instead of a shell but before I began, I was bored before I even began.” THAT is one of my fav lyrics - a bit much for a tattoo though lol. Morrissey is just passionately kind. But he doesn’t put up with evil humans and he won’t stay quiet about it. He says what many of us are thinking or what was just too hard to articulate and he does it brilliantly.
@@CamanoChad When you’re as critical of the media as Morrissey has been, it’s not too surprising that the media would retaliate by sponsoring a campaign to have him cancelled. Of course, the sheep predictably fall in line.
@@Archaicrecords76 Yeah I do realise it's not a popular view :D Obviously Irish Blood is one of his best, First of the Gang is very pop but could use a bit more grit maybe? I also love You knew I couldn't last - but not much else tbh. Great list btw, loads I agree with, some I don't so that's cool - gonna watch the individual reviews when I get a chance.
Hey there.....always uplifting to run into a kindred spirit.........super active fan since 1992...

some of them are pretty racist though
Viva Moz!

Oh man, I completely agree. ‘Nobody Loves Us’ is an amazing track!
Southpaw grammar is like one piece track. Brilliant album! Dagenham Dave is the ultimate British vibe
You are absolutely correct in your description of Morrissey
Thank you!
Fantastic rankings!
Great to hear you praise the greatest band ever.
They make it easy!

I completely agree, to me the only REAL weak song on the record is In Your Lap. Don’t really understand why, but that song does nothing for me.
Agreed.

Ringleader top 5 all day
Really? Top 5? Ok. You don’t hear that very often, but I respect that.
Bro I agree with everything you have said. 1983 was when that lighting bolt struck me....
Thanks Brother!
Haven’t made it thru the entire video yet but already love this so much. Bona Drag has got to be #1!!

Maladjusted is such a gem of an album, especially when you add the stellar b sides.

Vauxhall and I was the very best album by Moz.
There is any wrong answer here really.
2:15 we are devoted! There’s nothing they can do to change that

It really is. When I picture him in my mind, he’s still 1992 Morrissey.
It's funny that you are not fond of "Dear, God please help me", as it's my favorite on the album. As well as his aughts work.
Yeah, I don’t know why but I’ve never liked that song. I don’t know what it is, it hasn’t ever stuck to me. If you like it, that’s great. That’s the great thing about music, it’s so subjective.

Life is a pigsty is high my favorite Morrissey tracks

Dagenham Dave just OK??!! What???!!!

How is "Vauxhall and I" not on this list?? 🤔
It's at no.8 @24:12

I don't get the love for You Are the Quarry, 3 great tracks on there and nothing else - horrible bland production as well.
You don’t hear that everyday. I disagree, but I respect you for taking the minority position.
