@@astra-rb6sz That makes us both right! 😂
I love your videos, jamie archaic. Keep em coming.
@@VictimVictorious Thank you!!! 😊👍🏻
Yes, more of scratch and yourself. I'm biased.
As a punk fan what do think of the SLeaford Mods?
@@pmbbmp I’m by no means an expert, but I kinda like the material of theirs that I have heard. They’ve got an interesting, unique sound as far as I can tell.
Awww. We made mention!!! And, YES, I love Sierra Ferrell, especially The Sea, The Sea, The Sea, ta da da da ta da ta da... The Waves, The Waves, The Waves. Can't you just feel it? Oooooooooo, in Sierra's style and fashion.
I disagree with your ranking of Southpaw Grammar. Sure, it's not his best album, but it's far from his worst.
Love that intro... Morrissey has done nothing wrong; The vast majority of his opinions are correct (& where he and I disagree they're nothing I'd try to "cancel" him over, eg. his vegetarianism - I love eating meat, sorry Moz).
Vauxhall and I morrisseys best album for me not a bad song on it .. the smiths queens is dead or hatfull of hollows .
Poor Boz. What a mauling. I can't add anything because I can't find this album anywhere. Are you sure you wasn't just having a vivid nightmare? Boz is a nice bloke and I'm sure he ,Alain,Gustavo may pop up with Moz in the future.P.S I don't care for a Smiths reunion. They're not the Smiths anymore and where's the joy in watching two guys who hate each other pretending to get along. How could you listen to Barbarism without Andy. No thanks. Moz doesn't need Marr unless it's to pull out the knives he's been popping in there for years. Just my opinion though.
I’m in agreement with you when it comes to a possible ‘SMITHS’ reunion. No Andy Rourke, no SMITHS……No Mike Joyce, no SMITHS. I just think that it’s an interesting topic of conversation. I’ve never been one of those SMITHS fans who has pined for a reunion, even when Andy Rourke was still alive because I’ve always believed that based on the relationship between Morrissey and Marr, the only way it would come to fruition would be as a sort of cash grab. And, as you stated……where’s the joy in that? In my opinion, The Smiths were the greatest band of all time, and although they may have had a relatively brief run……they truly created magic. It’s best left where it is.
PS I LOVE Boz Boorer, the review of this album is in no way meant to be personal……it’s just not a very good record. It would bring me tremendous joy to see the classic Morrissey band back in tact one day, which is not meant as a slight to the current band, which I like also.
Thanks for the reply. The Smiths are the best band ever no question. So unique. Words no one else would venture using all emotions available from love through to hate layered with beautiful music. They will never be matched not even by greats like Reed , Cohen, Waits , Cave etc
Wtf?! I had a listen on Bandcamp… even the songs you said were ‘half decent’ suck balls! I absolutely hate this entire ‘album’ and tbh I hope Moz never works with him again. I wonder what the big man thinks of this sack of 💩. Truly, I have lost ALL respect for Boz. And I really loved his contributions in the past… he wrote Now My Heart is Full, Speedway, Spring-heeled Jim… ffs!!! Wish I never even knew about this garbage. It’s a disgrace!!!!
Thank for your review. I went on Spotify to check the album out and it is very telling that the album is not on there. Sounds like Boz had low expectations for the album.
I was curious about that myself.
A Morrissey official release of more Live shows would be great! Live at Dallas from my favourite tour - Kill Uncle, would be amazing. Most bootlegs are becoming repetitive and are just tiring out gigs like Wolverhampton and overlooking the great later shows. Especially with how difficult and expensive the old bootlegs are becoming to source considering how most are CDs.
@@OliverMellor-fs2vv I agree! An official live release from the Kill Uncle tour would be the absolute most!
Just found this video, great ranking! I agree with quite a bit of it although Kill Uncle would be much lower for me. But they’re all great. Viva Moz!
Awesomeness!
I love these two LPs and they’re definitely Prog-Wave with a commercial sheen. They were (briefly) in YES, so you can’t get anymore prog than that. “I Love You (Miss Robot)” is probably my favorite song on the first album and “I Am a Camera” is the songs I like best from the second one. Another great Prog-Wave band that I group with Buggles is New Musik, which is another producer/singer (Tony Mansfield) helmed studio band/project. All three of their albums are fantastic. Also, Bill Nelson’s Quit Dreaming and Get on the Beam is another essential Prog-Wave album. Speaking of Prog-related bands, I recommend Post-Prog bands This Heat and Random Hold. The former is a lot more experimental and intense, while the latter had a more commercial/new wave sound and their guitarist (David Rhoades) ended up in Peter Gabriel’s band on some of his best albums.
I adore Morrissey I saw him live last year.
if only elvis attended his feb 77 recording sessions. man some of those songs he wanted to record would have been hits. but unfortunataley they had to use those live recordings becouse there wernt enought songs to complete this album . if you love me let me know was recorded in his memphis concert 74

I was 16 when The Queen is Dead came out and my expectations were high and I was not disappointed. Beautiful artwork with pink font and gatefold sleeve then the sampled intro leading into New Rose esq big drums and guitars turned to 11 and the rest is history . The Smiths can do rock just as well as pop. For working class folks like me the royal family mean nothing. Un elected elitists no thanks. As a former lefty I agree that the left are now the bad guys. Freedom of speech and democracy is paramount.
Hatful of Hollow hands down for me. Sorry you had a tough childhood, I think trauma is one of the things that Smiths/Morrissey fans have in common. The Beatles are my favourite band of all time for a myriad of reasons but The Smiths/Morrissey are at number 2. Thanks for a great video ✌
Hi Jasper! I really appreciate this U2 ranking video- I don’t have the exact same ranking but surprisingly similar. The lowest on the list, Songs of Surrender, I am in almost total agreement. And I wish I had a positive feeling about that album- I even tried to force myself to like it more. Achtung is still the GOAT!!!!!!!!!
First off, I gotta say, I Love your friend from back then, man! That's just how I've defended this great band (of the 1970s) since I was young. And look, my favorite artist of all time is David Bowie. Plus, I love Sabbath, AC/DC, The Cure, Zappa, LZ, Jeff Beck, Joni Mitchell, Pink Floyd, Queen, Rolling Stones, Judas Priest, Saxon, James Brown, XTC and many more. But KISS is on my personal Mount Rushmore of artists: DAVID BOWIE BLACK SABBATH KISS AC/DC And all of them, most especially, of the 70s into the early 80s. Anyway, HOTTER THAN HELL is an awesome LP. From start to finish, it ROCKS! Just like the awesome debut LP, Dressed To Kill, ALIVE! and Rock and Roll Over does as well. Love what you said about that excellent Norman Sieff cover (and back cover) art as well. As a kid, those wild photos + the Japanese icing was absolutely mesmerizing. I personally like the production quality of "all three" of the early KISS records! Each of them is unique, disparately interesting and all three, highly crankable! Especially Dressed To Kill and the debut, but Hotter Than Hell's uniquely dark and forboding sound quality makes it a true stand alone LP. Totally unique. But yes, all of the HTH songs performed on Kiss Alive! are superior and wildly fantastic! No matter, I want all three of the "Kiss Originals" (first few LPs) just as they are! So, ENOUGH of this production talk w/regard to those excellent albums. If ANY Kiss LP, from the essential 70s era could benefit from a helpful production change, its "DESTROYER" Marc ⚡ p.s. You're correct about NYC in the 70s. My Dad's business was in Manhattan, and i spent multiple summers there with him for 3-4 weeks at a time. From borough to borough we would travel before going to dinner and back to the furniture'd office w/kitchen. I would have him stop at record shops in Queens, The Bronx, etc. and I got a great feel for New York City then. And in the 1970s, NYC truly was special...gritty, dirty and fantastic! By the stinking mid 80s, they'd cleaned it up into boring, generic any-city-ness. ACE FREHLEY is also my favorite member of Kiss, abd i personally can't stand any version of the band without him (save slightly for the short VV era), but especially the BK years and that ridiculous half a kiss imposter crap. Ace's solos from the 70s are not only awesome, but iconic and unforgettable! 🛸 And his '78 solo album is not only the best one from the band, but it is one of the greatest hard rock LPs of the late 70s... period!
Ya know, I've been major BOWIE fan since 1973, when i was all of 7, after discovering my older sister's "Ziggy Stardust" LP. It was a love at first sight, listen and full experience. And, after gathering all of the previous LPs (including Images w/the cartoon cover, and Space Oddity + The Man Who Sold The World, both in their far superior US LP covers!), I was very happily able to buy each subsequent album as new. Yes, the 1970s was a powerful and very special era for ROCK, and an exquisite time to grow up, loving music, becoming a good guitarist and all else that came within that golden era. All of that said, and as much as I love DAVID BOWIE, I have never gravitated towards Morrissey. I mean, I like a few to several Smiths songs, but I just don't really get that guy. And you might think I would, the way I'm so deeply into David Bowie and his catalog. I also heavily dig Roxy Music, The Cure, Eno, The Stones, Pink Floyd, T Rex, etc. I like Kraftwerk, Velvet Underground & Lou Reed, The Stooges and Iggy Pop...all of 'em, any who seem slightly or more associated with db But for me, Morrissey is just kind of a meh... I don't really like his voice. Or his "look" either. I guess i should apologize, but that's how it is for me. Anyway, I'll be back for my ranking of, imo, the greatest artist of our lifetimes, DAVID BOWIE..... Marc ⚡ p.s. Good for you, talking up the debut LP from '67 and PINUPS! I love both of them as well (although, in the case of the debut, IMAGES 1966-67 is better,, due to it being fleshed out to 21 great tracks. And man, you're the first one who's brought up the great "ROSALYN" from PINUPS. F****** awesome take on that song. And if you look at the excellent God-like photos on the back cover of PINUPS, the shot at the bottom right, with Bowie leaning up to the mic...that image always makes me think of Rosalyn. Him singing it. One other thing, well, two. Firstly, LABYRINTH is not a terrible OST. I think Bowie's music matches the film perfectly. And how could you think that the movie itself is so great, yet hate the music? Secondly, I can tell that you're a big fan, and that's fantastic. BUT what person who calls Bowie their "2nd favorite artist of all time" pronounces the song as TVC "fifteen"?? It's TVC 1--5. But I'm sure you know that. Also, I agree with you about LOW being the best album cover of all. It is! And its hard to say, when there's so.many awesome Bowie covers! But LOW is the best because, not only is the image and color so striking, unique anf special, but the cover "perfectly" embodies the content. Other "fantastic" BOWIE covers: Young Americans The Man Who Sold The World (Black/kick US cover!) Ziggy Stardust Diamond Dogs Aladdin Sane Heroes Pinups Space Oddity (US cover) David Live (which is an awesome double live LP!) Scary Monsters Finally, if you would,, give me the number of that girl you worked with, who loved DAVID BOWIE. Pretty sure we could talk the night away... as well as some other possibilities. 😉 *Strike that with the phone number. My wife...not a fan of that one. Oh well, I'm sure the Bowie girl is married as well by now. Good ranking, btw! Im going to post mine soon.

Wow I'm shocked, we got the same least fave album, Hours is dull dull dull. Totally with you.
Thought I was on my own here
I had a stoke when you said February 27th 2029
Ha! I know, I caught that when I went back and watched it. I’m an idiot!😂
I think you're ranking of JT, AB and Zooropa are WAY too low. Your ranking of October is WAY too high. I think there's a general consensus that Pop is a very underrated album (I also think Rattle and Hum is underrated too) and it's ashame that the band has shelved that era as well as Rattle and Hum due to their backlashings respectively. I can't argue with you on the album Boy. It is a genius of a debut album. Personally though I wouldn't rank it that high, I'm more of a Unforgettable Fire through Zooropa snob fan. I also think you ranked ATYCLB WAY too low as well. To me that album is top 3 in their catalog. I do agree that production wise or more or less sound wise it's a little flat, but lyrically and musically genius. Couple of songs you mention especially the song I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy Tonight, that and If God Will Send His Angels, both single versions are "jugular". Me personally nothing compares to JT though. I get how some of those songs have been played over and over again and you could go the rest of your life not listening to some of them ever again, I can go the rest of my life not listening to Pride and I'd be happy but Where The Streets Have No Name is and will always be my favorite song ever! I can easily listen to that song over and over again as well as every other song on that album ( yes including Trip Through Your Wires) and never get tired of them. EVER. What I find amazing and I wish you touched on it, was all the B-sides and Singles that was released with Achtung Baby are just as good as the songs on the album themselves. I think that matter alone shows how solid that album really was and artistically I would put that album as their #1 album in their catalog, personally though nothing tops Joshua Tree though.
Awesome comment!!! Thanks so much! I have to admit that I’m a little bit surprised that you would put AYCLB in the top three. I don’t think that it’s a bad album, I just think that it lacks the identity that their classic albums possess. Also, I think if you listen to their catalog in chronological order, it’s so much more safe and less interesting than POP, Zooropa, and Achtung Baby.
P.S. JUGULAR!!!!!😂😂😂
Huge U2 fan here. Seen them live over 20 times. Top 3 for me are 1) AB 2) JT 3) Pop. Point of reference, Im 45 so grew up with them. Saw them at the Sphere last year. They played AB in full and 3 songs from R&H (All I Want is You, When Love Comes to Town, and Desire). Perfect setlist. For me.
Your description of Brentwood Tennessee is spot on. Had a good laugh on that one
I’m glad that someone understands my pain!😂
Miss Sarajevo and My Blue room are epic
I really do like My Blue Room!
I've been a diehard U2 fan since 1984. My personal ranking (not necessarily a definitive list - just my favorites in order): 1. Achtung Baby 2. Boy 3. War 4. Pop 5. Joshua Tree 6. The Unforgettable Fire 7. Rattle and Hum 9. All That You Can't Leave Behind 10. October 11. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb 12. No Line on the Horizon 13. Songs of Innocence 14. Songs of Experience 15. Passengers
Nice list! I like that you have POP in your top 5 as well. Horribly underrated record.
For me: Joshua Tree, Unforgettable Fire, War, ATYCLB, Achtung Baby, Boy, Zooropa, Rattle and Hum, October, Atomic Bomb, Pop, No Line on the Horizon, Songs of Experience, Songs of Innocence, Surrender
Nice list! I’m a little bit surprised that you had Unforgettable Fire as your second favorite, but I can dig it!
Oh it's easy. War 1, Joshua tree 2, everything else, 3500 and beyond.
Ha Ha Ha!!! Fair enough! There was a time that I wouldn’t have disagreed with you.
Jamie, sorry
What for???😂
Achtung baby and Zooropa aren't bad but the only three albums I still listen to are the first three releases and like you Boy is my favourite. Never knew the US had a different cover but it still looks good. You could see why they were compared with the Bunnymen back then and I stuck with the Bunnies. Just in case you don't know search out a U2 song called A Celebration. It's not on an album and was released between October and War. It's an absolute cracker. Thanks for another great post Jaime
Yessir!
It was good to listen to someone else's picks. Notes: you don't like the gospell album, the christmas album, the country album. Strange, cause Elvis was half country and half gospell. Love lettets is as country as Elvis country (by the way a very good concept album), and was cut during the same sessions in Nashville when also studio recordings of TTWII was cut. Elvis Now had a lot of leftover from his earlier sessions (even from 69 Hey Jude thats probably the worst pick from the American recordings), but still a lot of country and gospell on it I think that's a much weaker album as Today for example. The Fool album includes mostly jam session leftovers some materials had to be released after the success of Aloha - shame on RCA. But anyway, congrats to the chanell. Elvis forever!
Great video!
Thank you so much!
Jesus, who's got an hour!? - Revenge Is Sweet is best. :)
@@nickjackson2421 Short, concise, to the point…….I like it!
I don't think Morrissey has ever played Miserably Lie solo. My most played Smiths albums is the debut and Queen is Dead aesy. Strangeways the least. It just sounds like songs bunched together. Not a bad album but it doesn't do it for me. Sorry. Don't think many will disagree with Andy's Barbarism baseline. Totally hypnotic. I too loved bootlegs . Unfortunately I chucked my vinyl when moving to small apartment though of course I kept my Bunnymen/ Smiths/ Morrissey and couple others.Retiring early shortly and plan is to buy a turntable and buy the odd album but stick mainly to cds. I have same Cure t shirt you're wearing today though I rarely play anything after Kiss me album. I don't mind Disintegration but it seems a bit prog rock to me and was the beginning of long winded intros. Head, faith,17 seconds , 3 imaginary boys, pornography easy winners. Wish onwards big Z's. I'm sure you disagree but that's part of the fun.😊 Thanks for another fine video
Actually, I completely agree with your assessment of The Cure. The first half of their catalog is the JUGS!!! The second half……..not so much, it gets really spotty.

I totally agree that Let Me Go, Rock ‘N Roll is easily the weakest song on the record. To me, it’s the only really shaky track.
I used to not enjoy this track. For decades even. Until I came to the realization that Peters drum rolls throughout are absolutely stupendous.
Yes, you're right, for the most part, about the studio version on HTH. BUT....the live version which ends KISS ALIVE! Is awesome! It's twice as long and completely ROCKS, with ACE FREHLEY tearing it up and the band as a whole jamming exquisitely in the later part of the song. M ⚡

New subscriber here (via Interbang video). I was so thrilled to come across this Possum Dixon profile. I discovered them when I happened to see them open for my beloved Dead Milkmen in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the mid-90s. I was blown away by their performance and immediately bought their CD. You're absolutely correct; this album is a gem. Every track is catchy and pleasing. "Anxiety attack" is a perfect descriptor. Other words that come to mind include frenetic, neurotic, punchy, and clinky. (I'm not sure where that last word came from but it refers to the actual sound. Plinky could stand in for a similar reason.) "Watch That Girl Destroy Me" is the song that first came to mind as you began to discuss these guys. "Your Emergency's About to End" is likely my fave. Thanks for publicizing this band. I didn't realize they had faded into such relative obscurity. I suspect the usual death blows of inadequate/insufficient promotion, manifestations of poor management and ineffective distribution. There's nothing about the band or their music I can critique or blame for the matter. Thanks again. I'll be watching you! 😏 KD
Wow!!! Thank you so much for the lovely, thoughtful comment! Welcome to the Archaic family of aging punk rockers!!! 😂 I really can’t fathom how this band has vanished into relative obscurity. They were far superior to so many of their contemporaries…….most of which still enjoy much more notoriety than Possum Dixon. Simply unfair.
