This is a phenomenal subclass and to be honest a 10/10 is so fitting for the clockwork soul sorcerer with that said it's time to "do the time warp again!"
The only sorcerer I would perhaps multiclass with barbarian. (It's a bit specific of a build though) It's also great with a dip in order cleric (VoA is better on sorcerers anyway. And 2 lvls of stars druid dip to spread the love/healing a bit more)
Coming back to aberrant mind sorcerer, DnD shorts made a short on vegepygmies and showed in the skit that the DM is planning giving the Terrask flametrowers. Some other comment talked about how you could make it a scarier encounter by letting an elderbrain possess the Terrask. I went a step further, since if mindflayers can become an Alhoon, an elderbrain should also be able to become 1. If they possess the terrask, it now has spell casting. Of course, if they elderbrain has spellcasting there could develope a culture where alhoons are appreciate and bred for instead of expulsed. If an alhoon is a mindflayer wizard, other mindflayer (multi)classes would be even more scary? Barbarian mindflayer (all the mindflayer abilities working while it's a beefcake and no longer frail with few hp, but takes little damage and dishes it out all the time), a mindflayer rogue (bonus action mindblast into sneak attack😮😅), a mindflayer sorcadin (aberrant mind of course) or a mindflayer bard (super persuasive, good at disguises and infiltration/espionage {disguise self to look like a human} suitable/scary subclasses would be whispers [don't let them multiclass with warlock], lore or elloquence). Which mindflayer+class(es) would you be most scared of? 🤔🤣😜
Could be a goliath for even more damage reduction. The standard strategy would be casting aid and armor of agathys + bastion of law (warlock abjuration spell) on yourself then rage and go crazy. Barbarian subclass reccomandation is ancestral guardian for better "taunt" (going upto lvl 6 rest in sorcerer for metamagic points) and if you want/can spare 2 lvls you could always dip paladin. I think however that my own preference goes out to mark of healing halfling with the mounted combatant feat. Now you also have some handy healing spells and using a spear (this is more just my flavor) to polevault onto the shoulders of the squishy ally they want to protect. 😊😊😊❤

You now also get access to arcane ward which could be fun depending on circumstance and the metamagic that you add.
