Vixen are great. Probably have one of the best mounts around. The Tripod is the most important part of a telescope. Binoculars should be your first telescope, You should also look at Dobsonians from taiwan. They make quality ones. Cloudy night are a good website. Join a club is also good. But research first look around. Dont rush save up. Think out it first. Making a telescope is an option too. You can get a very cheap telescope for about $20 it was available a few years ago. Play with that see how that works then work up. best place to look at the stars in my opinion is alice springs around ayers rock or Uluru, Amazing skys. Or If you are Elon musk buy your own space telescope. However I'm not. Dreams are Free. Main thing have fun.
Ps Im thinking of touring around Japan for 90 days next year assuming r Ok p. Im thinking of Bringing a scope to Japan what is the best option. I know its coals to new castle. Ill be trekking long distance. So itkl get loads of abuse. I thought a 70,, refractor with a light camera tripod would be good. Or should I just stick to &x %0 binocs. Weight cost are my major concerns. if youve seen wild you know what I mean.
Though theres laid back camping the anime. Im thinking of my options. Though I could just save my money and just buy it in Japan,,,, Decisions Decisions....etc etc etc..

Vixen has expanded their line up of premium made Japanese optics to include common rebadging. That is to say, stamping their name on to products made mostly in China. Far from criticism, the Chinese have really improved engineering over the years, & this scope is just one example of how good they have gotten. It is getting harder to justify the price of custom high end optics as that the visual margin is getting more & more narrow.

I nearly bought one of these but went with the Vixen 130mm reflector. The mount is the best mount of any telescope I have ever bought. And I own several Meades and Skywatcher scopes. The only bad thing I have to say is the star finder is crap I binned it straight away and replaced it with a 9x50mm Saxon finder withch is brilliant.
