Your welcome! I forgot to put into the video but it’s obvious is to just cut the bolts if they are too rusty to undo. Cheers.

Hi Steve, hope you are keeping ok mate, I think you were quite lucky with the removal of the exhaust as some of them can be a right pita removing the bolts/nuts and hangers, I used to hate replacing exhausts with only axle stands so back in those days I use to make it last as long as possible then don the balaclava and tell everyone it's not my car🤣
I think the exhaust on my SLK is all stainless as I've had the car since 2015 and it's still nice and shiny so lets hope it outlasts the car, the car will probably be a pile of rust on the ground with a pristine shiny exhaust just laying there🤔😲😂cheers mate and a very interesting video as always👍

@@JohnWD40TC02 Thanks John, all good here thanks just lacking time to do anything along with fighting the weather. Yes it wasn’t to bad of a job took longer than it seemed on the video though!
Is you SLK a petrol? I know modern diesels with a DPF (Diesel particulate filter) are stainless due to the high heats involved when the DPF does a regen. I think your right the exhaust will still be there when the car would be a pile of rust 😂
Cheers mate hope you’re doing ok as well.

I recon it went quite well for you Steve, I've done some right pigs in my time in fact when I got a bit older and a bit better off I started taking my cars to an exhaust centre so much easier😅
My SLK is a petrol with a supercharger it's a pretty fast car but they don't half sting you with the car tax which I think is going up yet again, I don't want to sell it but it's getting more costly to run each year😠we are all good here mate just plodding along👌👍

@ They should be supporting us that wants to keep our car running! After all the keep banging on about the right to repair and stop throwing stuff away then they pull this stunt. It’s not right! Why should you or anyone get rid of a car they like and that’s perfectly good. I could rant about that all day I think 🤣 hope it doesn’t go up to much, I can’t imagine how much your car is on tax every month! Just a joke really and the roads are in a right shit state! Cheers mate glad everything is ok with you guys.

Yeah it's ridiculous mate they are trying to get all these old petrol (and diesel) cars off the road to make us buy EV's but they aren't as green as they say, just making the batteries makes a lot of pollution as I think they are mad in the far east then shipped all around the world then god knows what it takes to decommission them.
I think my car tax was around £430 last September and I bet it will be a lot more this year, my SLK is a 2003 model so it's going to be a lot of years before it's MOT and TAX exempt😠🤬

Definitely Alan! I’ve done mine in the past the difference is the back box slips over the end of the mid section and uses a “U”bolt to clamp the 2 together you can use an exhaust paste to seal the joint up I’ve never bothered as it’s a pitta to get off again, if it does leak it would only be a weep this isn’t a real concern as it will still pass the MOT anyway maybe an advisory if the tester feels, this is a different story if it’s up near the centre section on the entry side, the exhaust would need to be sealed well as the gasses could leak into the car. Cheers mate let me know how you get on with yours.
