@@christurbo951 the 911 seems really prone to the dash peeling issue, I looked away from it long enough for a good 1.5 years then I decided to replace it, since I am staying home and had nothing to do. :-)
Nghi Tran I agree. The leather wrinkling looks bad on such an expensive car. The leather dye is coming off the steering wheel and wrinkling on the A-pillar
Please can I ask you a question. Im trying to remove the trim section up beside the windscreen that has the alarm light on it in the center. Im wanting to remove the complete trim section all along the top of the dash. You show two screws you remove. is that for the dashboard or the top section?
Very useful - thanks a million. I don't suppose you know where white connector X2/4 is do you? It carries the spoiler retraction/extension state from the rear and feeds the spoiler motor relay on/off outputs from the blue instrument cluster plug. It's on sheet 8 of the wiring manual, but I don't know where it's physically located! My guess is behind the dashboard somewhere. Thanks.
Hi mate - my rhd 996.2 has the passenger side sunroof drain tube hanging down. Do you think I’d be able to remove just the airbag to access reseating the end of the pipe to the lower A pillar?
Great video. Do you know where is the electronics ground strap is? The wiring diagram shows it on the support bar across where the dash is so I presume that means it is a dash out job to get to it?
I think there are a few ground points behind the dash, most of them can be accessed by removing parts of the dash rather than the whole thing. There were a couple behind/below the instrument binnacle and I think others could be accessed when the airbag was removed.
Well, why are you at it? Why not repair the foam that surrounds the heater flap? Since the heater is most likely twenty years old, the foam has disintegrated, causing bits and pieces to be spewed throughout the dash and floor. It is easy to remove and replace with newer materials and adhesives.
Good question. They were the only major part that didn't come with the interior I bought. I will be painting them black like I did the centre console pieces.
Thanks for doing all the hard work for me!!! First time pulling dash was a breeze because of you.
thank you dearly. I finally can remove my dashboard to redo the leather for it. so much detail and helpful information
Thanks, glad it was useful.
Nghi Tran I agree. I bought a used vinyl dash to replace my peeling leather dash on my turbo. This was very helpful.

good video, but power tools will make more easy and faster job......
how long did this actually take you? I have a black dash to install and wondering if I should wait for the winter to do it.
I think it took me around 2 hours to remove the dash and another couple of hours to fit a new one.
Yeah do it in the freezing winter. Much better way to work.

Did you encounter the airbag controller anywhere?
It is underneath the centre console, in front of the gear lever.

Why did the B pillar covers stay beige?

@@PerformanceEV Ah that makes sense! I was thinking they could not be any more difficult to remove than the dash!
