      Just found the next interesting drone on banggood: eachine shadow fiend (143gr) and hope to also get a 4S lion pack. did you solder your lion yourself? not sure if 210 gr 3500mah lion will work - weight wise - but I will try!

      @@Rcschim yes I built it myself. Sony Vtc6 3500 4s. 25mins with some adjusting of the sliders in bf it now flies smooth with "enough" power for steady flight. Not an Acro battery. At 143g you should get closer to 30+ mins. My flywoo due to a 20x20 stack (stock was 16x16) a larger tbs diversity nano receiver and the vista comes in at 190 before the battery. So it's a bit overweight.
      But with a 550 3s I get 6 mins which is adequate and under 250g.
      Li-ion is 204g plus the 190 for the quad....
      But as said it flies fine.....
      But from following your videos a while now I'd say your emax 5 inch that you get 7 mins of cruising on would be the "nicer" choice with that extra power when needed. 🤣🤣
      As I initially said I absolutely love it great to be in the air for so long..... not constantly watching the battery voltage.

      @@gmivisualsjason3729 good to hear it works (the 204gr lion). yep, I also needed to adjust a few sliders in BF to get the chimera smoother.
      emax is nice, but I should maybe consider putting GPS on it to make it come home in case of problems. That's the real benefit of the longrange drones!

    What kind of range you get on the video wish I could have seen bitrate! Good video!!

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wasnt brave enough to max out the range. Also I had no idea how long my batteries (all quite old) would really last.
      Max was around 1.7km (still 50mbit there)
      I could also overlay the bitrate in a 3rd layer - but this is time-consuming and I was supposed to release this video for their black friday...
      getting GPS + DJI data into the same SRT subtitles would be possible in theory, but splicing 2 seperate logfiles (with probbably different data rate / lines per seconds) is difficult I guess :)

    Hello Mr Schim. Very good video! I can only get one with the Nebula, I'd like to know how you swapped the cameras? Was it only the camera housing and not the cable?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I swapped the lens-module + cable. you just unscrew one screw on the vista unit, the bracket comes off, the flat cable can be carefully lifte up, then you plug in the new cable. Quite easy, done it a few times now.
      Works also on the full airunit - but there you have to open the air unit case to get access to the cable socket...

    AT 6:02, I noticed you have the antenna on your Tango2 oriented vertically. On the Chimera4, the receiving antenna is horizontal, which is not a good combo.. fine for short-range flying, pretty sure that gives worse signal overall though.

      @Rcschim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reminder. Friends also told me this recently when they saw me flying this way. Totally agreed ;) I think it's just a bad habit of me - since the antenna also doubles as a radio-stand when it's vertically - so that's usually the first thing when I turn it on and rest it on the ground...

  • @rumuru98

    What was your maximum video range with this quad? You think the GPS is correctly installed and doesn't interfere with the caddx? As I know of, all micro long range quads in the market don't put care on GPS shielding.

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From the log and gps coords I see that homepoint is very accurate.
      Since it is new i only had a few flights, max around 1.7km, but still 50mbit there ;) video should be good for 10 or more km. I don't know bout my crossfire range yet. Currently battery range is limited (need a big lion)

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rumuru98 hi, 2km doenst sound that much for DJI FPV.
      I dont think that GPS will interfere with other electronix! It's a passive antenna, right? So it will GET interference from other electrical comps and so the GPS might be inaccurate then. But not the other way round.
      I would check the antenna-placement (both video and CF).
      CF: is it really LQ you're seeing there or is it RSSI? I had some issues last time getting the right CF values to be displayed on the DJI osd. Now I think it's correct.
      If you can, also check the LQ of CF directly on your radio telemetry - so you know it's not an issue there.
      What DJI antennas are you using?

    i'm really liking this 4 inch format, just wondering how heavy can it go to help fight the wind, also that looked like a buzzard, they don't attack anything they are purely scavengers. i wonder if folding props would be ok for these quads, much safer for birds of prey attacks.

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mac, (isnt every Scot a Mac? :)
      Yes, I think it was a Buzzard. Didnt know they are scavengers (but I read not just scavengers, also hunt down small animals like Mice).
      Folding props would for sure work. Are there 4" Dalprops fold available already? Dont know.
      To the 4"ers: yes - they are really fun! I will try to get a LION pack and see how much flighttime I can get. But 7 to 10min on my many 1500mah 4S packs already feels quite long. Can be stretched to maybe 12mins with just gentle cruising.
      Wind: I feel like it needed a bit PID tuning. Increase the D term (wich is stated in BF now as "the dampener") - and that worked. Now it's smoother. Of course, if you fly at Arran over the ridge, you would probbably be in trouble. Speed is ~70kph horiz - so wind speed should be max 50kph...
      greets, Mario

    • @TheMadmacs
      @TheMadmacs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rcschim thats quite a low speed, there are very few windless days in scotland, maybe more weight will help, with a 610g 5inch i was tilted at 45deg and holding almost 70% throttle to maintain a straight line along the ridge, very disconcerting feeling by the way, and yes all scots are macs, only thing we don't like being called is scotch and thats just mildly annoying, the english call us jocks which is also fine.
      so "d'' is the new "i'' term.... i thought d just quickened the response... i have never tuned a quad, i once increased d on the pitch axis to make feel more like the roll axis, and it worked hehehe.
      yes 10min flight is long but remember when you did longer range it takes a long time to get to the target, and that horrible guessing game when you have to return, i flew yesterday and was so rusty, took me 3 minutes to relax and my packs only just lasted 4 mins and also, you remember the guy who tried to steal my camera? e wandered by again and said there was a buzzard on a pole near to me, i had a little look and orbit, it wasn't too bothered by me flying near, they are giant birds, if you came across one in the woods, you'd run for it hehehe i think buzzards are part of the vulture family, they are maybe too big to hunt.... i was just thinking what if i put a 6s lion pack on my 5 inch 2750kv quad,? i think i can fly with 60 amp maximum
