Appreciate the comments. I have a 30G Fluval tank and my fish love the Bug Bite Granules so I purchased the Bug Bites Tropical Formula Flakes - I don't see the same reaction by my fish to the flakes. The flakes just float to the bottom and fish don't go for them much but they still dive for the Color Enhancing Formula Granules. I'll keep watching and maybe my fish will come around to the flakes as well.
I was surprised to see this in the store when I got my new betta. I didn't realize it came in flake form! I've been having fun tweezer feeding my little guy with this.
BENTLEY!! I found you! I have been away from fish keeping for a few years….and omg, I think I have forgotten more than I ever knew…so, I absolutely love your information and the presentation…thank you so very much, and your laugh makes my day brighter! Keep fishin’ and take care
Betta formulated Bug Bite flakes are a major part of both my betta fish's diet and my fish are so lively, energetic, and healthy. They love their Bug Bites. I have no problem getting my bettas to eat them. 🤣
Bug bites is one of my favorite foods to feed my community tank, as well as my African cichlid tank. I've been using the color enhanced and the spirulina versions in my community tank. They make a great combo!
THANK YOU!!! I have 4 precious goldfish that are literally my babies. One of my little guys has been sick for quite a while, not eating and barely moving. I've been devastated. I grabbed some FLUVAL BUG BITES GOLDFISH FLAKES on a whim - and this stuff is MIRACULOUS!!! My little guy is looking so much better and all 4 of my kids get SOOOO excited for mealtime! I am so thrilled to have found this extraordinary food. I LOVE THIS STUFF - just like you BENTLEY!!!
Happy to hear your goldie turned around!
I was not aware of this food before you mentioned it. Thanks for putting it on my radar.
Great video man. Subbed before the first video ends haha, there's not enough personable aquarists on here so it's good to find your channel. Just bought the flakes and pleco formula on offer and ended up here after seeing my fish go crazy over it haha
I too mix foods for convenience of feeding. I haven't tried these flakes, but am open to!
All my fish love these flakes including the rams. Most surprising is that my two adult turtle Red ear sliders do to.
I fed Tetra flakes to my community tank for 3 years and recently switched to Xtreme. It took the fish a few weeks of trying for them to eat Xtreme without hesitation. But, I threw bug bites in on the same day I tried Xtreme and they went nuts for it the second it touched the water.
Bentley makes a video? Is it any good? My review says heck yaa! Haven't tried their flake yet but want to soon. Thanks for putting in the hard work Bentley
I have used the pleco and the color enhancing version and I agree everything from my rainbows to guppies go crazy for this stuff!
All the fish of my tanks absolutely go nuts for the bug bites flakes, more than the bug bites granules. Even my timid German blue rams go out of their way to compete with rummynose tetras to go get them right at the surface of the water.
I am using a lot of Fluval products now. Their chemicals and additives did more to help me over an ammonia spike i fought for over two months, and my little aquatic friends seem to be happier. I also use Fluval C filters on my tanks, even my 5 gal. And I feed my fishes Fluval Bug Bites (I will look for the flake) and they go nuts when I give them that food. I do have Aqua Clears for the two 10 gal tanks I have but I am not changing over just yet.
I got juvenile assorted endlers and 2 platinum guppies. The color enhancing flakes were my choice after using the betta and shrimp granules with success. These tiny guys have grown up and just keep getting better. Not sure if I can contribute it all to Fluval, but the absolutely go crazy for it and will even choose over frozen blood worms. Great coloration and super healthy, can't ask for much more.
Picked up some of the colour enhancing flakes last week. My rainbows love it as well as my plecos and corys.
My fish love all the Flake Bug Bites, from day one they have taken to it super well. I feed a mix of the varieties as well as the granule versions. Between Bug Bites / Xtreme / Northfin / Sometimes Frozen / Sometimes Repashy foods my fish are all very happy. Variety is sometimes the spice of life.
My praecox rainbow tank has cory's which I try to feed the bottom feeder formula to. The rainbowfish eat as much as they can as the food sinks to the bottom. Will try the flake next time I'm in need of more fish food. Love the content on your channel, Bentley.
Bentley, after this review Fluval is going to send you more flake food. Good review my man.
I'm trying spirulina formula flakes and my angles, pletie and Corey's loving it
I use the NorthFin Bug Pro Crisps!!! theyre awesome cuz even though they say they're 2mm theyre flat so even smaller fish have no issues eating it. I bought the 3lbs container of this stuff.. all my fish eat it, at all different sizes.
Been using the Fluval colour enhancing flakes my fish loves it!!( Livebearers ) only down fall is that the flakes go to powder too easily.
Bentley watch Randy’s latest Fish room update🤣🤣
I have 3 different "versions" of bug bites (spirulina, bug bites tropical granules and bottom feeder) and my fish love them all. I used to have algae wafers and my fish loved those too, just trying something different with bottom feeders formula.
Stay true to yourself, Bentley. The reason I trust your judgement is precisely because you are not sponsored, you are under no obligation to give something a positive review unless you actually believe in it. If you review something that doesn't float your boat you will say so. There are some other fishy youtubers who are sponsored and when they review products by their sponsors they are, how can i put it, maybe less than objective.
Thanks for the info will give it a try just bought the granules so will order some flake this week 😀
It is VERY good! I buy the regular bug bite flakes as well as the color enhancing ones. Very good! I mix it in with all other flakes and I make the Emeril “BAM!” when I do it 😁
Hahaha oh lord Emril
Thank you master Bentley! Agreed on all points here 100%. Running 20 freshwater tanks with 20 species - all are fed on food rotation that includes Bug Bites flakes. We mix color-enhancing+tropical+spirulina in each feeding. All fish eat all three flake varieties hard.
I've tried the colro enhancing bug bites flakes, all my fish love it as well. I've raised Molly fry on that and they're plump and colorful!
This is also an excellent food. My fish love it. You sold me on the extreme krill flake and my fish love that as well
When I first tried Northfin my fish weren’t going for it, after a few days they started going crazy for it and they’ve gone crazy for it ever since. Not sure why that happens? But I will say, without a doubt, with about 12 tanks, the fish got better color and longer fins after feeding Northfin. I still feed multiple brands; NLS, NORTHFIN, Fluval bug bites, Serra O nip, extreme, Ocean Nutrition, etc, etc
I started giving my betta Fluval bug bites and bloodworms for variety. Shortly after that, he stopped eating his pellets. I bought him Nothrfin Betta bits and the same thing happened. He would not go for it at first. Now he loves Northfin food.
Northfin is great food but i think their advertising department needs work. Start with packaging
I use Bug bites algea waffers they are great! and my pleco seems to like it more. With spinach and cucumber 2 or 3 times a week
Hi loving your show , first time I have seen you , I have been using cichlid bug bites for my big American cichlids and love it , big tank had to temporary shut and now going to eartheaters and rainbows so looking forward to trying the flakes, keep safe loving you from the uk
Thanks as always for a great informative video brightened up a wet & windy uk.👍🐡
I really like the bug bites flakes as well. My fish love it and I appreciate how widely available it is. The pleco sticks are also a huge hit with the loaches and cories lol
I feed my betta the Bug Bites Betta formula once a week. He really loves it. My only complaint about the Bug Bites for Bettas is that it sinks very fast. My fish will go poking through the substrate looking for any food that sinks. He's very food motivated. I feed him Hikari freeze-dried bloodworms once a week and Northfin Betta bits the rest of the time.
Like to hear about the Rhad Rainbows! I have not heard or seen them before
Look up Roseline something on AquaBid. Have had some nice uncommon Rainbows for a few decades. I personally don't like the constant motions of the blue eyes and such but am more open to that now! Kinda like Africans.
Didn’t know they’d made flake! Liked the granules, but went to the bottom too fast. Will get this. The Pleco formula sticks are popular with my fish, plecos, guppies and female bettas who live with them
Great review. I have not tried any of the flakes yet but will be soon. I too have not had any fish not go just nuts over the granules.
I usually mix the bug bites flakes/ mealworm flakes from Walmart with extreme krill and spirulina flake
I always enjoy your videos, Bentley! I’ve never tried the Bug Bites, but I’d consider adding them to the rotation. I like the idea of serving a flake blend on days I don’t feed frozen.
I started using Bug Bites color enhancing flakes in my 5 tanks only a few days ago. With the exception of 1 fish, everyone smashes it. Big hit:) Have used a variety of flakes over a few years but hadn't found one that was a hit including Tetra and Omega One. Bug Bites flakes for the win:) Love that it's made with soldier fly larvae - considered making my own soldier fly fish treats, but this is a lot easier and the soldier fly larvae in my backyard are probably thankful:) Side note, I have a rescued 6" Peacock Cichlid and he doesn't usually want any flakes including these - he likes his 2 regular foods plenty - but he is going after "Cool Cichlid" by Aquanix? I got a sample baggie, and he is loving it. Will be watching your video on understanding fish food quality next.
My fish really enjoy the bug bites, I’ll have to give the flake version a try!
I just tried the color-enhancing bug bites for the first time and all my fish loved it except for my dad Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish. Have you heard of that before? They went after it like crazy but they would put it in there mouth and spit it back out. I love your videos, keep up the good work. I just subscribed and hit the bell notification icon, looking forward to seeing more videos. I saw your patience video, and for the first time ever I have a quarantine tank set up, what is the shortest amount of time I have to keep fish in there before putting them in my 200-gallon tank?
I would suggest at least 2 weeks
Use the granules. Definitely going to give the flakes a try .Especially for my rainbows. Thanks for the info!
I switch between the Bug Bites Spirulina Flakes and the Color Enhancing Flakes. My fish are crazy for them! My betta isn't as pleased with the Bug Bites Betta Flakes, but he's a totally spoiled diva and only takes pellets. Planning to grab him some bug bites granules next time I'm pet shopping.
Are the flakes really small? I prefer really large flakes that I can break up to the size I like for my fish
They are pretty easy to grind up small. I just open the container and seals, then close the lid and shake vigorously for a bit to break the flakes up.
Would this be better than Tropical Supervit?
I have pencilfish/rasboras/corydoras
About the same
I got pleco so I'm going to try the one for bottom feeders
My fish don't seem to care that much about the krill flakes, it does have kind of a weird consistency once wet. I find pieces of it sitting at the bottom of the tank, like some fish can't even tell it's food. I'll give these a try.
Hmmm never tried this, but will have to get some for my rainbows, guppies, and angels.
Great information, once again!
How does the color enhancing formula compare to the krill flakes? Does one produce better color than the other?
Th last again for all you do for the hobby!
You know that could be a really fun side by side experiment.
@@BentleyPascoe I love comparisons! They help me make better choices.
@@BentleyPascoe any updates?
I was really hoping my Betta would like Bug Bites but he eats it and spits it back out. My Betta won't eat dried blood worms either. The only food he will eat is Omega One Betta Buffet flakes. He just must be a really picky eater. I will try the Extreme brand flakes also. I heard really great things about their fish foods.
The different voices were just to funny.
I got it because everyone has been recommending bug bites my fish love It !!! The small flake works well for my fry.Ty for the mix idea for all fish 🐠 I got the little cute can definitely need the big can.Have a Blessed Day.
Spirulina bug bites is amazing! Spirulina as the first ingredient followed by mealworms and solider fly larvae! Cannot best that
so do I, I am yet to find any of my tank refuse bugs bites. even shrimp love them
my guppies go crazy for the spirulina formula!
I did not know they had flakes - I’m going shopping now!
I wish Fluval made larger containers of the bugbites; even the bags aren’t very big. Having said that, since I didn’t know about the flakes, maybe I better search for harder for larger containers.
My white clouds go to ground and nipple at bug bite pleco. Everyone fights over all the bugbites.
Xtreme sinking wafers most of my bottom dwellers ignore - even my garbage disposal clown loaches.
Omega one shrimp pellets are eagerly devoured by all as well. Xtreme & NLS pellets/flakes are loved by most... as is the Aq Co-op fry food.
Bananas and plantains are surprisingly popular with most fish... and snails and shrimp... um... er... go bananas over them!
They do have larger ones in the flake
@@BentleyPascoe I can’t find anyone that has the 180g size in the flake... is that what you bought or the 90g?
@@catfishcave379 90 I think
Can't wait to see your repashy blends. Think I'll pass on the bug bites flakes, though, merely because they're redundant to what I already have. Great review as always.
All my tetras love bug bites flakes
Count me in if you find a blend of fuval krill and veggies for my community fish pleco, cory and tetra's!!
My only complaint is the flake is too thin/fragile. They break into small pieces just sprinkling some out of the jar. I now have half a container of 'dust'. The fish do like the flake, but the 'dust', just so its not wasted, will be used as fry food.
Can minnows eat bug bites
@@Amandarobertson-d7o assuming you get it small enough
No, I have not seen them yet, I love the bug bites for bottom feeders
What’s a SAE???
Siamese Algae Eater
@@BentleyPascoe do you find those to be aggressive sometimes ?
@@Aquatic_Amigo regular SAE yes, reticulated a little less.
Love these videos
I love the sustainability aspect to Fluval. I really do think all companies need to be more transparent with their production so we can hold them accountable if they are sustainable or not. I’m willing to pay more for sustainability because money talks. We need to do all we can as a hobby to support sustainability because the factory produce has impact on the environment.
Next time you do a fish food review, you should video fish eating it. Just a suggestion
I've not used the flakes yet..but it maybe better for my mid size fish... I've been using Aqueon flakes I got a large tin in lockdown for $4...I change my fish food every few months apart from bug bites it's the only thing my angel really likes..apart from fry..
My Leopoldi angels took really well to zoomed spirulina flake, from there they learned flake is good and take dang near anything now
@@BentleyPascoe he will eat flakes..he just wants bug bites..lol....most of my fish love tetra pleco wafers...so maybe I need an algae flake..also mixing garlic oil into the food for the guppies is a big hit..
Lets be honest Bentley, rainbow fish go nuts after any food put in the tank. I have to wipe water splashed onto my floor every time I feed my rainbows...lol
$16 for a large jar is too much. I can get them for $8. I think your local store is gouging you. I also use the Spirulina. My fish love the stuff. The color enhancing flake that I got was super fine. Maybe I just got the tailing from a batch. It's fine for nano fish but my bigger fish won't go for it at all because it's just too small.
My fish don’t like bug bites for some reason
My fish love it.. The only down side of it is that its just way to thin...
I tried both and my fish just don’t want it
The only food all the fish my tank faster, better, and fist is X-treem's nano pellets.
👍
think shrimp would like it?
I think so, but might do best with a more veg formula like pleco.
@@BentleyPascoe thanks i bet my embers and triops will would like it btw i've been using passive co2 where do i get a diffuser bell that doesn't look like trash? I was thinking acrylic pin holders held down with suction cups.
@@arachnoskull6311 I haven't looked too in-depth into bells, I'm sure there's some nice glass ones out there
@@BentleyPascoe there's 1 and it's to little
any tips on what Suction cups will last longer?
It seems Fluval doesn't want to introduce that amazing food in Europe, only hardware. Tropikal and Azoo are the best foods we can find.
Thanks
Pets at home sell it in the UK
@@TheReaper1981 You're lucky!
Food is food as long as the fish are happy they have survived this long without it. I like the idea of a varied diet for my fish as I would not want to eat the same thing every day unless it was pizza 😃
Amazon.co.uk has the entire range; they will ship to anywhere in Europe.
Pretty sure xtreme is making something that sticks to the glass 🤞
I love bug bites.
*high pitched whiney voice* are Fluval paying you Bentley?
*also high pitched voice* wish they had it locally here in Japan!
Pardon my interruption but Bug Bites are a big hit with my fish! They told me! Not really.
Mr. Bentley. I got layed off again after 16 weeks and could not get a better pic of the M. Komeng but Hoon Aquatics gave me a reference to someone on facebook who was involved in the collection of these but I decided to just wait and see what they look like! Sad thing is alot of us don't have time to correspond with people with like interests untill we don't have a job! Anyway I would like to reiterate that they take on a golden hue with a pinkish element kinda like M.Kiunga if you ever had those. If I can get a means to take a good pic I will send it but I would definitely try to get these. I seen you trying to get some M.Kali Mosi and if you couldn't I would recommend those to! Only one female now.
I was able to get some Moysi, they're already coloring up and a video is coming in them soon
@@BentleyPascoe Cool! In my group only one was showing any color forever and now they are all showing. Pic of Marcel's was pretty wild. Rainbows are something else. You have to keep them to ever really know all the looks they can have! Got some Morehead River from Eric Bedrock away back. Those have been hard for me to put in right light and surroundings to see them colored up best. Well, have to watch Dallas lose again!
You state Fluval bug bites is good because it's made of sustainable ingredients. Then you suggest mixing in krill which you say is questionably sustainable? Contradictory. if it needs mixing with other foods then it's not as Flugal state "a complete food"
A mixed diet is good for pretty much every living animal out there. Do you need to mix it? No. Do I prefer mixing it in some rotation to keep my feeding varied: yes. There's a difference, it's not "you must mix it" it's "I prefer..."
Two thumbs down and three thumbs up 👍 lol. Interesting thanks.
Too much ranting.
All my fish love these flakes including the rams. Most surprising is that my two adult turtle Red ear sliders do to.
