On this episode of Verified, the North Carolina rapper breaks down the inspiration she garnered from No I.D.’s advice, Eminem’s honesty, and Ms. Lauryn Hill’s rawness. She also explains why she’s reintroducing herself on this record.
“I wanted to introduce myself as Marlanna and not Rapsody," she tells Genius. "Marlanna is a human and being human can be scary. It’s taking off the shield and letting you know this is where we going y'all. So buckle up.”
