UPDATE: After careful consideration reading your comments, delving back into distant memories, and consultation with a GOATed influencer from Tenncom, I am moving the Radicals into the B-Tier for comfort. They are decently jarring and definitely not as comfortable as other rackets in the A-Tier.

I have the current Rad and also the 2021 version. They're not uncomfortable but neither should they ever be in a comfortable racquet tier list ever.

      Hi
I like your videos in general but I have one question :
Why you never talk about Prince ?
In this tier list, the phantom line is S+ tier in my opinion

For an intermediate level player pov, I believe it's a mistake to associate stiffness and confort, especially when talking about the Pure Drive.
Here's why : low stiffness frames generally have smaller sweet spot and don't give you much power for free.
So when you manage to find the sweet spot, yes, it's buttery smooth ( I'm thinking radical mp and blade 100 here). But every time you won't (and more often than you'd like), you will get a not so sweet harsh vibration in the arm. Plus, low powered = you'll have to swing harder, so without really good technique = arm fatigue = injuries.
On the other hand, the pure drive gives you easier depth, so you can play more relaxed, and last, because of it's large sweet spot, off-centered shots won't happen as much.
My personal pref : soft poly at 22-23kg on my PD, and it's confortable and controlled enough.
Lastly, having play several time with the blade 100, although it was very appealing, I'd place it no higher than B tier at best.

Love your videos and usually don’t comment but I had several (mild) beefs with this one. I think the strike (at least 3rd gen), boom pro and ezone should be at least one tier higher. They may have higher stiffness ratings but have thoughtful designs and/or technology (larger sweet spots, excellent dampening, more flexible/thinner faces, etc) to create a very enjoyable and comfortable hitting experience. Welcome feedback on this!

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I think the Boom Pro could maybe go A-tier but for the Ezone and the Strike, despite the dampening (which I agree is effective) they are still stiff and can have a rigid flex with their beam designs so you should be a little more careful. The Strike also combines that with a pretty hefty swingweight which also adds to it. But keep in mind, the B/C tier of today are nowhere near as uncomfortable as some that would have been there 10 years ago.

    My tiers.
    Vcore 100 = S
    Blade 100 and 98 = A
    Pure Drive 107 = B
    Pure Aero 100 = C
    Vcore 98 = D
All stung with gut/4G. Strings are currently in the mid to low 40s for tension, with the exception of the VCore 98, which is about 46/47 pounds. Take it for what it’s worth.

The Radicals above the Extreme Tour in comfort ? Have owned twice and found the opposite. The Gravity MP caused wrist issues proving the flex ratings aren't a true measure of comfort. From testing rackets with hitting partners we also found mixed opinions about comfort. The reason demoing rackets is vital before purchasing

To be fair I didn't put a single demanding control racket in the S-Tier and explained that they are in the A-tier because of this exact reason.

i agree, radicals are way stiffer than TW lists them. I've got them measured out a lot of time (Pro/MP) and they're relatively stiff frames around 68-69 RA. U can feel this also, with full bed of poly and a small sweetspot it's by far no comfortable frame....

Hello, I am a subscriber to Rackets & Runners, watch your videos but have never commented before now. I just wanted to say, "Thank you," this was very insightful to me. I see that the rackets I gravitate towards are in "S" and "A". More importantly, your final table helps me filter out rackets I most likely would and would not enjoy given what currently works for me.

No, it's rated stiffer and I can say from experience that it plays much, much stiffer. Before I switched to the Ezone 98, I played with the TFight 315 (stock) and the TF40 305 (with added weight). I still have the TF40, and the Ezone 98 plays very similar to it, just with a touch more powerful serves from the Ezone. The TFight is terrific for power and spin but it's quite unforgiving and it can jar your arm on off center shots--great racket on the days when you are feeling dialed in and are on the attack but for me it's a poor racket for defending. I loved the way the TFight felt but I had so many fewer errors with the TF40 that I had to give up the TFight. If you're Iga, your results may be different! The TF40 is very forgiving, much more so than the Ezone 98. If you don't quite gel with the Radical MP or Pro or the Ezone, give the TF40 a try.

the racket that gets the most comments about players arm's falling off gets B tier? I was suspicious but now I am curious in the Ezone 98 again. However, it was not able to dethrone a big rival and the racket topping out my most wanted list by making this S tier and meaning the Speed MP is the biggest outlier and figuratively in class of its own! I want to demo one more than ever now. I looked through the comments and no one challenged this with the exception of one saying control rackets can't be the most comfortable rackets as well (perhaps it will break reality as we know it) and I say.. just why not!? This super racket sounds fantastic for someone in their mid 50's and still breaking polys with 2012 Roddick PD's...
