I'm 77 and I have as much energy as a lot of 30 yr olds. And I hsven't had any serious illnesses, other than cataracts. I ride a bike 25 miles or more at a time, at 15-16 mph average. I think you get old if you think old. i worked until I was 74, and worked harder than the 20 somethings. I taught fencing until I was 72, and fenced with younger students, and could hold my own quite well. Just keep moving, you'll feel better, lol.

It is amazing to see the difference in people as the age. Some people seem really old at 60 and other people seem relative young at 80. Diet and exercise make a big difference but having something to live for or having a purpose seems to really make a difference as well.

Makes sense to me. I adopted a vegetarian diet at 52, ran three miles a day and biked to work. After I quit wage-slavery at 55 to live on a poverty level pension, I switched to mixed martial arts. I quit martial arts when I got to 70 for fear of haematomas, especially in my brain. I still stand on my head in the morning, do 30 sit ups, 30 bar bell raises, 30 squats and trot (aka jog) for 30 minutes on grass. I read great novels, "The New Yorker" and the current online news and am still active in the retired members division of my union. I do continue to drink real ale (Coopers Mild Ale) and have an occasional toke. I'll be 79 on January 8th 2024.

The way I look at it is you have to really enjoy whatever you do Biking,Swimming, Running etc. I don't do those, I lift weights and to me it's fun. I got to hear good music. I'm 65 been lifting for about 30 years. the important thing is don't make it like I've got to do a certain amount of reps each time that takes all the fun out of it. Obviously, 1 or 2 days any weak you are going to be more tired, stressed, and not as strong or focused. just do lighter weights and feel it.

Mick had heart valve replacement surgery in New York. I believe it was in 2019-2020. Aortic stenosis, calcified heart valve. Mick Jagger suffered from aortic stenosis, which is a narrow heart valve. The aortic valve is responsible for managing blood flow through the heart to the rest of the body. Jagger’s aortic valve was calcified which limits its ability to open-and-close. I love The Rolling Stones and I still listen to them. It amazes me that Mick can still dance and move around after having heart valve replacement surgery.

Starting in the '60's, Americans like Richard Hittleman used television, books, lectures, etc. to teach many Americans how to do yoga; he was very popular. In addition, the hippie counterculture, New Age movement, and others, helped spread this practice dramatically by the late '60's, so by the "80's, when VHS and the whole workout movement exploded, yoga was well implemented and alive in America. It just hadn't swept the nation I guess., I later took Kundalini yoga at a college. Yoga's been around for thousands of years, like in India, so I think it began in the 60's, probably with the hippie movement.
