Pastor Blakes, complex developmental trauma has a profound impact on the developing brain, which changes the trajectory of life from day one. As one certifying in trauma counseling alongside my graduate clinical mental health counseling program, I must say THANK YOU for bringing awareness to this issue, especially in utilizing your life experiences. People are simply uninformed. You say you're no counselor, yet I beg to differ! God is using you mightily! 🙏

I can't explain how much you've helped me see the light these last few months. My entire perspective has changed, and when I started reading the Bible I found wisdom I had never experienced. The shift in how I view my past now that I've begun my journey through the word of God is a miracle in itself. I listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit now. It was always there, but I know it will get louder!
God bless you and yours, Pastor Blakes, and keep on spreading that good word!!

Such a wonderful preaching today on trauma. It has been a series of tragic events in my life including career, other overwhelming issues. And to add to that, I’ve recently lost both my son and Mom in 2022 and this has impacted deeply on me. The heartbreak is overwhelming and I can attest it affects every aspect of one’s life. It spills into one’s entire outlook to life.
Make matters worse, during traumatic events, we ‘lose’ family, friends and associates during traumatic experiences. The society doesn’t like or doesn’t know how to be supportive to traumatised people. The society can be cruel!
We end up being forced to ‘move on…be strong…’ . The society doesn’t know how or doesn’t care to anchor those overwhelmed by sadness and heartbreak…..
So we force ourselves to smile, put on a brave face etc. in order to please the society. We learn to pretend and project a different picture of ourselves to the pleas the society, to fit in. Tho we’re bleeding, paining from the inside. The isolation can be tormenting, confusing and more pain too. Until we realise God is here.
From such traumatic experiences, we either become miserable, bitter, angry mistrusting of others for the rest of our lives, OR learn to focus on our healing and begins with forgiveness of so many…..
I chose healing. This led me to seek God. To look for faith. Seek God’s healing. Find new hobbies. Align with nature etc.
Heartache traumatic shuttering experience is a solo journey. We learn to be gentle on ourselves, to be alone in the midst of a crowd and closest to God.
I’m totally grateful to God for my faith in Him as it is keeping me going. I’ve learnt to get closer to God. My spirituality grew in ways I can’t describe. I feel I’ve grown so much, overnight. Trauma can change our lives to become better from the inside.
You’ve put it so well, it is so timely I can’t describe how uplifting listening to you here. Thank you and may God bless you and your family🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

As 64-year-old woman who is the child of an abusive, alcoholic (pastor) father who abandoned me ( youngest of 3) and my mother, this is my story.
But my godly mother used to say “he sits as a refiner and purifier of silver”. She taught me that when the heat comes up, the impurities rise to the surface to be skimmed away. Repeated until there are no more impurities, the silver becomes as a mirror, reflecting clearly the face of the Refiner.
I have struggled my ENTIRE LIFE with guilt, shame, relationships, and am in an emotionally abusive one now, where I am shamed and belittled.
Thank you, pastor, for calling to mind the wise words of my precious mother.
My painful journey begins now. Pray for me. Lisa

Wow Bishop! This was an extremely POWERFUL message. Words escape me to describe the impact this message will have on those with ears to truly hear.
"When I forgive you, when I choose to forgive you, I just simply release you into the hands of God so that I can move forward into my destiny."
I love that truth! We can forgive and move on without allowing others close access to hurt us again.
This message was chock full of truths, especially the part about being transparent vice hiding things that have caused trauma.
Blessings upon you Bishop from the crown of your head to the souls of your feet! I'm passing this message on in the hopes that many will be delivered and start healing from past trauma 🙏🏼

It’s sad that ppl try to use information that you freely tell. Those Christian’s who try to make like they never lived a life and are perfect and never do wrong. To me a man can’t show non believers that God is able if they never been through anything to show them he’s able to do the impossible. I appreciate you talking about these topics that most churches shy away from. Trauma is a major problem in the black community. We all need some form of therapy.

I really do believe you going through your recluse stage also is what THE LORD used to help heal you. Sometimes you got to get away from it all, especially if they're not safe (healthy) spaces for you in the first place! Get acquainted with your First Love to find out why HE'S exactly that--your First Love (THE LORD). When you see how much HE LOVES you and just for you, you can't help but to see the world in brand new eyes and oh yeah, and also to learn to love you just for you too! I AM SO GRATEFUL everyday that THE LORD saved a wretch like me!! ❤❤

I have a question. So it sounds like you are saying that a person should forgive the person that hurt them and then release them so that the Said person who was hurt can ultimately find their destiny elsewhere. Knowing your own story and outcome, can that outcome apply to other men?? I've listened to enough of your lives now in past couple weeks and they are very informative but rarely have I heard you encouraging a woman to give the broken man a 2nd chance so long as they are doing the work or done the work. Or anything uplifting to that broken man. Is it fair to call them clowns just because they have trouble communicating? I am all for the healing myself but I don't feel good bashing a person that I love or loved. I don't even think that is godly.

I think not all our occurrences are testimonies I think some are victory and some are personal victories. Some people over share and people aren’t ready for that and then gossip starts. And there is also the sharer whom is like a parrot just repeating the same tradegy. I think we all need discernment on when and whom to tell.
For example, a young in a church I used to go to part of his testimony was that his mother was I a prostitute of years and over shared of his mother’s life then people were looking at him bad and then when the time came for him to look for a wife all parents prohibited their daughters to date him/marry him. Then another lady her testimony was how she was a pastors mistress and she aborted his children ummm…..let’s just say no one talked to her…..people were def not ready for that. I’m just saying there is a time and place and whom to tell. And people need to glorify the deliverer not be soo detailed of the sin or situation.
