    I know it might sound silly but the level of attention you pay to how the boys play, and the amount of thought you put into their presents so that it’s stuff they’ll enjoy and play with is amazing. ❤️ thanks for the inspiration!

      Aw thank you. I think that's born out of being very tight with my money. I don't mind spending it as long as I know it going to be worth it.

    You are amazing for finding time to do these videos. Even though we dont celebrate christmas, I watch your gift guides to purchase presents for my own 4.5yrs old and 15months old. We have bought some of the winter/Christmas books from your suggestions and my kids love them.
    I love how everything on thsiblist is so practical, useable and adaptable to a range if ages...must have taken you ages to think uo this stuff. Thank you so much x

    I'm rewatching this for 2022 Christmas and I love the ideas, particularly around the amazing outdoor climbing frame. But I'm shook that a dentist said electric toothbrushes aren't for under 3's! I'm a DH and I bought my son a Bruan/Oral B brush when we was 18 months. Cheap and cheerful! I'll be getting #2 so one as soon as a tooth pops through. Kids generally (there are some exceptions) love the sensory aspect.

    Hi Jemma, I get very excited every time I see you post another TH-cam video. Thank you for all these ideas. I’ve never heard of a Christmas box but thought that was a sweet idea. And Christmas bedding really takes it to another level. I need to look around for some.

    • @TheHiddenGem
      @TheHiddenGem  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have magformers (the ones that are the shake but an empty centre) and Connetix. Magformers are only good for very small constructions. There’s no comparison, Connetix are the best magnetic tile out there if you actually want to build with them and build high!

    Educational books are nice gift ideas to kids if you ask me. At a young age below 6, they are at best in absorbing almost anything, and what better way to facilitate that than learning books? if you're worried about fun factor, there's options to have it tailor made into their own *personalised childrens books* and theme it to their liking

    Hi, I likes video, so nice :) I have question, I hope you read this.... so I can not decide between Magnatiles or Connetix tiles or a big set of Grimm woodenblocks. My children are 4,5 years old and 18 months old. We have wooden blocks but they are the old style small ones, too small for my 18 months old. My son loves to build, but we dont have any magnetic tiles. I can only buy either the wooden set or the magnetic tiles.... which one do you recommend?

    • @TheHiddenGem
      @TheHiddenGem  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you DM the same question on Instagram? If so, then I think I answered this one maybe.
      They’re both played with daily here by all the boys. Connetix are maybe more preferable to older children. But with a younger a child I would probably go for the Grimms large stepped pyramid and Connetix next year. They’ll get loads of use if you’re children are use to open ended toys. Years of fun!

    My twins are 3.5. All their toys are still joint gifts, apart from a few stuffed animals. I'd guess in another year or so, it'll be important to get them individual gifts, even if they end up sharing the toys, but they wouldn't care or understand now. It's handy to share everything. Although obviously it's tough to know the right balance between sharing as a family and promoting them being individuals. I'm sure you know the feeling.

    I love the video, thanks for all the great ideas!! You did mention craft activities with glitter though and I wasn't aware of this until I started studying environmental science so I wanted to share the info with you and the community in case you also don't know this: glitter is microplastic. If kids inhale it, it might stay in their bodies and the additives that dissolve from the plastic can act similar as hormones or cause illnesses such as cancer. Instead, you could use paper confetti as well as coloured sand or rice. I don't mean to offend you in any way by sharing this, it is just meant to be neutral information for everyone :-)
