  • Certainly the longest video I've made to date...
The following is basically a supercut of footage I took throughout the day of 26/03/23. As a volunteer at the Umgeni Steam Railway I get to experience all of the sights, sounds and smells that comes with helping to run a steam train.
This is still only a glimpse into an average day and I hope to show a lot more content in the future along with the great people at USR!

I did not know we had any working steam locomotives left. This was a amazing thing to see

Unfortunately it is a rare sight these days.. Only Umgeni Steam Railway and Ceres Railway running regular trips at the moment. But there are a few more out there that pop up now and again

Simply fantastic SA steam. The 19D whistle is so unique and special. The absence of music or commentary allows raw appreciation of the sight and sounds. Thank you so much for the close ups, cab work, points and sidings coupled with the start and finish of the day. A real visual treat and an encouragement to keep steam alive in South Africa. Thank you for sharing this video.

Thank you so much for your comment, really appreciate it! That was kinda my aim, just throw together a whole bunch of videos of a typical running day so that people can get a glimpse into the sights and sounds that I am fortunate enough to experience on the regular 🙂
