There's a BIG difference between GTA, and IRL. His father is talking like he was in a car that was not involved in the racing, but the news report says "he was a passenger in one of those cars". It's best to choose your friends wisely, as the wrong one may cause your demise, I knew to keep out of some friends cars as they were prone to totally acting the fool when driving, but, surprisingly nobody i knew back then ever died in a auto accident.
Hopefully a lesson was learned they shouldn't be street racing just because it was in a movie. Where were the parents?

@@dstaff7373 I’m making a point because the dad seemed to make it as if others chose his fate. I’m not being insensitive. It’s horribly sad…but we have to own our actions. All of us, so others may at least learn from them.

It goes to say when you don't warn your Kids enough, that being around stupid will end LIFE faster than you know it. Stupid is not smart, it's not cool to be dumb. Now this poor young man is gone for what "cheap thrills" hard lessons for young folk to learn.
You can warn them until you are blue in the face, they are going to do what they are going to do. Nobody ever said parenting was easy. Especially when they become teens and young adults. As a mother, you do your best, you hope for the best once they are grown that they make it to their golden years. It is cringe worthy to say the least. Hang onto your hats mamas, its going to be a wild ride.

according to what i heard, the victim in this story was a passenger in a car that was RACING. the two cars collided with each other and he died. So he was a passenger, or friends with, those in the car including the driver who was racing. He died because he was a passenger in a car with someone he trusted to drive and drive safe enough to keep him alive. He made the wrong choice. People constantly racing, driving too fast for whatever thrill, not thinking about the consequences. He made his choice to ride with someone who was willing to race another. Had his whole life ahead of him which wasnt but a few minutes apparently. He CHOSE to get into a car with someone who was supposedly a safe enough driver. He apparently hung around the wrong crowd. Dad is proud of his son. For what? For making the wrong choice of friends that got him killed???? Make stupid choices, win deadly prizes. No sympathy from me. Yes a life was lost. BUT totally preventable!!!!!
This is heartbreaking… a good young man with a bright future taken away far too soon. I’m so sad for his Father and family.

Okay I was all for this dad bc it sound like he was taking responsibility for his child back saying that his son chose to do something wrong but then he said other people don't care about safety what other people your son was racing but we know that his friend did not kidnap him and make him raise with him down that road know your son Cherokee Drive dangerously and thank God no actual innocent people were her thing. It was him and not some innocent family coming home from the night at the movie with their kids, now don't misunderstand me I know he was young and they saw they were just having some harmless fun at 18 you know better and it's really unfortunate he had to pay the ultimate consequence for his actions I have four children to them being boys in HR boys are silly they do crazy s*** that I would never try to blame someone else for my son's actions because make no doubt about it this young man unfortunately chose to act recklessly and unfortunately he didn't have time to correct those mistakes
Not enough information... but I felt father was accepting some responsibility. We may never know if his son was willing participant or not.
The 'other people' may be referring to the two racing drivers?
Too often the grieving family blames anyone & everyone else, but I didn't get that vibe from this father... likely discipline he acquired while serving in military.
