    This method will not give you the dimension you are looking for, it will always be a bit smaller diameter than you trying to achieve. When you measure from the points of the arc that intersect each of the radiant lines that are drawn, you are essentially cutting of part of your ring and reducing the diameter of the circle. This would work accurately if you used it differently.
    If you were to start with the ring diameter you are look for and then draw perpedicular lines at the intersection of the ring at the three consecutive radiant lines, you would be creating the outside of the ring, measuring how long the perpencular lines are from where they intersect each other would give you the true length required. The template created here is great and would work well if done a bit differently. (This twelve segment example is much like the Unit Circle that many of you may remember from your high school Trigonometry, I may use this as an example when I teach it later this year in my classes. I am always trying to find different examples of what I teach in action!)
