Also, I’m digging into the comedy world (late I know 😂) but thanks so much for introducing us to so many badazz women!! ❤❤❤

33:52 I honestly really appreciate how Whitney brought up her episode with Brooke Schofield, and how she recognized why people would think that she was being a little harsh on Brooke as she was trying to be open talking about her borderline personality disorder diagnosis.. as someone with quite a few psychiatric diagnoses myself (specifically Bipolar disorder), it did kind of rub me the wrong way when she was kind of pushing Brooke to defend why she has BPD. I understand Whitney‘s perspective that women are often over diagnosed for mental illness, but I did kind of feel bad for Brooke during that part of the interview bc I personally understand how awkward it is when someone puts you on the spot and it might be hard for you to get your thoughts together to form a good response... Although I don’t always agree with Whitney‘s way of talking about mental illness, I do appreciate how transparent she is, and that she is providing a platform for other people to also talk about their experiences with mental health (also just love Whitney in general)

I haven’t heard that you shouldn’t tell someone they have BPD, but it’s commonly misdiagnosed as schizophrenia and more. Just speaking from experience here as someone who has BPD. I was misdiagnosed for 16 years and was *relieved* to hear I have BPD bc I could finally get the right treatment. Normally you do want to know because DBT is what BPD needs. I have heard you shouldn’t tell someone they’re a narcissist though. Glad y’all are having this convo! I used to feel so alone with my BPD.

Getting diagnosed with borderline makes it worse? Some people feel so relieved with the diagnosis because there are specific individualized tools and resources to help manage the severe mood swings, absence of identity ect. It is harsh to try to negate someone’s experience especially when they have their OWN team of professions and didn’t just self-diagnose. Her saying “Were you just having feelings?” is still coming off as a little frustrating. Especially because most people give Whitney the space to talk about her various diagnoses without people telling her she’s just overly pathologizing herself, because most people understand that we have no idea what is going on with her and her mental health team and it’s not our place to weigh in
