People with an irregular heart rhythm, called atrial fibrillation (AF), are about 5 times more likely to have a stroke compared to the general population.
Researchers at the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) conducted a trial that found a safe, simple procedure during heart surgery prevents stroke with patients with AF.
