    These fragrances were so strong back then, you could smell the perfume before you saw the person that was wearing it! So beautiful but so sad that those scents now are shadows of their former selves.

      I adored Love's baby soft as a kid. It made me feel grown up but the fragrance was appropriate for a youngster. The old ads are creepy if you haven't seen them. I would have not given it one mind as a child though. Heaven Scent was a popular perfume in Jr. high.

    I was an outlier in those days, wearing Chanel No 5 and Oscar de la Renta as a teenager, while my friends wore Charlie and Jovan Musk. But my great love was Opium, so luxurious, so opulent. It was a spectacular fragrance!! And no, the current rendition of the old Opium, while similar, is not the same.

    • @buddy-yn9bd
      @buddy-yn9bd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wore opium in the 80s in Jr. High and got so many compliments. I remember a teacher being upset because it smelled too heavy on her. I don't know why but that one worked for me. I then moved on to Clinique Happy and Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers. I de-evolved ! I prefer less sweet fragrances now. I guess I should retry Opium!

    I’m a 70s baby. The non perfume smells I remember were Ann French cleanser, roller ball strawberry lip gloss, astral hand cream ( the advert used to show a dried out leaf that, once coated in Astral, became as supple as a baby’s bum and YSL without a doubt! Loving that 70s vibe outfit! Your ideas for videos are amazing!

    A lighter, creamier, smoother, slightly sweeter dupe for YSL Opium is Café by CofinLuxe (1978). Very airy & skeletal, but not long-lasting, from the same nose responsible for Must de Cartier. Much cheaper than Opium. Many prefer Café to the current-formula Opium (has nothing to do with coffee).

    I really enjoyed this video, brought me back in time. ❤️ My very first perfume was Anais Anais. ❤️ After that, I loved and wore Rive Gauche for years and years, it was my signature scent. ❤️ I miss it so much. Later I also liked Eau de Calandre by Paco Rabanne. ❤️ My mom liked YSL Rive Gauche and Ysatis by Givenchy. ❤️ Have Anais Anais and Rive Gauche been reformulated? Do they still smell the same? What does it mean when a perfume is no longer produced for decades, but someone is selling it on Amazon? Thanks in advance for your response.

    I remember some 70s fragrances...I was born in the early 70s. My mom wore YSL Opium for years; then she switched it to Guerlain’s Shalimar, which was better than the intense Opium scent. I also remember a Gucci flanker, which was strong & that came out in the late 70s/early 80s👃🏻👧🏻

    Blimey this was a blast from the past and had me revisiting my late teens/early 20's. The perfumes I wore before I could afford the more designer ones were Faberge Kiku and Xanadu, Coty Masumi, Charlie and Worth Je Reviens. When I started working I wore a few of these you mentioned, loved Aliage, Diorella and Rive Gauche. I did have Opium but in all honesty I hated it and still do, way too overpowering for me. Really enjoyed this trip down memory lane❤

    In the 1980s, my lovely Auntie used to buy bottles of Yves St. Laurent's Rive Gauche for me. The first time she gifted me one, I thanked her. She thought I liked it and kept buying bottles of it for me. I absolutely DETESTED the smell of it the first time I used it, and never even opened any of the subsequent rive gauche bottles she bought for me. I thought it had the most disgusting smell, like stagnant pond-water.

    For me the iconic scent of working class West Yorkshire was Estee Lauders Youth Dew. I saw a bottle in Malta a few years ago and I had to buy it be transported back to the 60/70’s. Walk by the crowded pubs and clubs at that time and all you could smell was Youth Dew. Living in Castleford as a kid, my next door neighbour, Aunty Mary, would ask me when I was going into Leeds to call in at the department store Lewis’s to bring her a bottle of Youth Dew. You could smell Aunty Mary before she appeared. Fantastic memories of a past filled with love and community.
