Great clip to start from. For a bit of context, Fr Ted was made in the 90's about 3 Catholic priests on a remote Island off the west coast of Ireland. The reason they're there is because they are totally useless priests. The show was written by Irish writers and mostly starred Irish actors but was made in England due to the isish state broadcaster refusing to make it due to its very controversial theme of making fun of priests. The Irish Catholic church tried to have it banned and denounced it as pervasive resulting that when it was shown in Ireland it was shown at 12 in the morning on a Monday night. The are an entire generation of Irish adults now who remember making all sorts of excuses or sneeking down stairs to watch Fr Ted on low volume soas not to get caught watching it. The thing was it was just so funny it's now considered a classic comedy up there with Fawlty Towers. There is even a Fr Ted festival out on the Aran islands on the west coast of Ireland where the filmed the opening credits (imagine an island where everyone is dressed as a priest or nun, the pubs dont close and there no police, that's Tedfest).
Oh come on, Irish people where not sneaking downstairs at Midnight to watch it. Ireland was not that bad. The show was available to most Irish people on C4 anyway and it was hugely popular in Ireland and not controversial at all.

The Ancient Greeks (about 2,200 years ago) were an amazing people who gave rise to most of the philosophical ideas which still influence western civilization (Socrates, Plato, Aristotle ... many, many more). They were often openly homosexual/bisexual. Also you may have heard of Sappho, she lived on the island of Lesbos ...
In ancient Greece, homosexual lovers would be castigated if they were too similar in age, but pederastic relationships with a significant age difference were considered socially acceptable. They were incredibly common. Historians have described these relationships as “the principal cultural model for free relationships between citizens.” Pederasty was a social custom in which an adult male would court a young Greek boy to become his model, guide, and initiator, and would become responsible for the evolution of his chosen young counterpart. The younger man, or eromenos, would only enter such a relationship once they had undergone puberty. In antiquity, puberty occurred somewhat later than today, usually starting around 14 for boys rather than 12. The older m The older man, or erastes, was generally in their mid to late 20s. The erastes would always initiate the relationship, and they would do so by showering the eromenos with gifts. The pederastic relationship was a rite of passage that would last for several years. Pederasty was viewed as the masculine analogue to marriage, the rite of passage that Greek girls of the same age were subjected to as well. Ultimately, pederasty was a passing stage in which the adolescent was the beloved of an older male, and remained as such until he reached a certain developmental threshold. After reaching that threshold, the young man would in turn take on an adolescent beloved of his own. The pederastic relationship was a part of transitioning to full adulthood and citizenship. Additionally, in ancient Greek relationships, it was customary for partners to adhere to dominant and submissive roles.
The bit at the very end, added by TH-cam (after the sketch), is a running gag where the priests' housekeeper, Mrs Doyle, always INSISTS that every visitor accepts a cup of her tea, like it or not. It’s three Catholic priests (Ted, Dougal and Jack) living together on a tiny Irish island called Craggy Island… part of the humour here is it spread so quickly because it’s such a tiny and close knit population where everyone knows everyone else’s business, and also it’s way too tiny to have a hitherto unknown ‘Chinatown’ area… 😂 It’s a work of comedy genius.
It’s still a country in Southern Europe…
I am about to binge on some Father Ted tonight. Brilliant series. Yes I think it's from the 90's
It's Irish comedy lads. We do love it over here in England though. So much that I married a Mrs Doyle 😂
Father Ted is one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. Every episode makes me laugh until I cry!
I still laugh to this day to think craggy island has a whole Chinatown.
The bit at the very end, added by TH-cam (after the sketch), is a running gag where the priests' housekeeper, Mrs Doyle, always INSISTS that every visitor accepts a cup of her tea, like it or not. Here, the gag goes to extremes, where she keeps saying "Go on, go on, g'wan, g'wan, gwan-gwan-gwan-gwan..."
Looking forward to their reaction on this one. Well actually I look forward to all of their stuff. They’re flipping hilarious.
4:25 No, she literally just meant Greeks, as in people from Greece 😂
if you lived in Ireland you would know how rumours spread so fast, you really should watch more episodes of Father ted, a group of dysfunctional catholic priests hidden away on craggy island.
I always love that scene of Mrs Doyle and her friend in the tearoom fighting over who gets to pay the bill
It's the same in many small towns all over Europe. I'm from one. Even if you keep your nose clean, everyone still remembers what your parents and grandparents, etc did and you will be reminded of it.
You need to understand that black mark on the window! Please watch MORE father Ted ✅✅🤣
I have seen Father Ted SO many times and it ALWAYS makes me laugh!
Even Doogle knew it was inappropriate
Only those of us who have lived in a small population area can truly understand how fast embarrassing crap spreads.
What are the bro’s on, talk about mellowed out 😆 ? Most chilled reactions I’ve ever seen 😂
Funny clip. Irish actors. The actor who played Father Ted died when he was only 45 years old.
The day after the short the last scene of the the last show in the 3:rd season.
I live 10 mins from Father Teds house! And yes over here word really does spread that fast 😂
I love that the guy asks Father Ted if they’re all supposed to be racist now, “what’s the church’s position?” and then points out that the farm takes up most of his time and at night he just likes to relax with a hot cup of tea so he wouldn’t be able to be racist full time. 😂. I’m not sure that guy understand how bigotry works. He seems to think its some sort of hobby or skillset.
The Blues Brothers have left the building, welcome the Baked Bros.
Daniel Tosh Happy Thoughts stand up special
Great suggestion
Yeah hopefully they find somewhere to watch it not broken up into parts
@@Takingback816 is it permitted with copyrights? I think that’s partly why they’re broken up, for legalities. It would be great to sit through it uninterrupted though
@@WinterSo1dier yeah you’re most likely right. Hopefully it’s cut better than the first Daniel tosh special cuz it would cut in the middle of jokes
These guys are in space, there so high! Bud + Father Ted is a great combo!
Oh shit, getting into Father Ted?? That whole series is on Dead Parrot's TH-cam Channel!
Father Ted was an Irish sitcom done by the same guy who did IT Crowd and Black Books. Hilarious.
@@jansenart0 Right? .. Broke my ankles a few years back and had to spend 3 months off my feet at home.. The kids and I spent the whole time Binge watching Father Ted, the IT Crowd, Black Books, Peep Show, Spaced ... Loved them all
This was the best show on TV at the time in my opinion. I looked forward to it each Friday night it was on. I'd definitely recommend watching the whole 3 series of the show.
It's Irish, not English. But it was made by a British TV channel. But the 2 countries share a virtually identical sense of humor.
Not really, the Scottish, Irish and Welsh all have a far superior sense of humour. And they are welcome back in the EU.
English can stay home and enjoy their xenophobic sovereignty.
UK tv sit coms don't use laughter tracks, we play the whole show live to a studio audience. Laughter tracks is a very US thing. Love everything you watch, you got good taste. Gotta agree with other commenters, you gonna get flamed alive calling Ireland English....lol Bit like saying Canada in America....Keep it up guys.
English humor has always been my favorite. They are INSANELY hilarious. They don't hold back: Black Addar, Faulty Towers, Benny Hill, Monty Python.
Just a heads up: the Irish don't like being called British, but they really don't like to be called English.
This is Irish not english
@@tmsplltrs By definition Irish people ARE British. Ireland is a British island. The British isles is an island group which consists of Ireland, great-britain (the largest island) Shetlands, Orkney, the hebrides, isle of Man, guernsey etc etc. They ARE British.
@@Mrs.Karen_Walker I like your confidence, but no. The English called it 'the british isles' out of imperialist ideals and the term is considered dated. Other suggestions like the British-Irish isles have since been made.
Guys you must do more Father Ted, its amazingly clever comedy.
They missed the best part of this episode in this clip. He ends up being mistakenly seen as doing a nazi salute with a Hitler moustache.
The dirt on the window, lol. Genius
@@NathanBarley1 Up with that Chekhov’s gun sort of thing.
Recently found out Amber Heard was a Father Ted fan since all of her charity money was "just resting in my account." A well known defence by Father Ted of his own charity fraud accusations. Lol
Father Ted may be a British production but it was written by Irish writers and reflects Irish humour as much as British.
British and Irish humour are pretty much the same. Whatever some Irish people like to say, we are pretty much the same. Same culture, behave the same way, same language. It also helps that we are located right next to each other.
@@stretfordender11 Irish humour IS per definition British humour. Ireland is a British isle. Irish people are by definition British.
@@AffectionateBambooForest-hj8uj you obviously dont know ANYTHING about geography. Ireland is by definition one of the British isles. It is part of the British archipelago. If you deny this then you are no different from a flat-earther.
Father Ted is BOMBBB... Old but worthy of a big binge. You guys are top too
I think you guys should react to "the Whitest Kids You Know" Abraham Lincoln skit, in honor of Trevor Moore who just passed. That shit funny as hell.
Father Ted is a sitcom created by Irish writers Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews and produced by British production company Hat Trick Productions for Channel 4.
OMG. It's Irish! Not English :)
The show was Irish but produced in England. Irish actors and Irish locations.
Best TV show in the history of TV shows
It's a great scene that really shows the absurdity of bigotry. Just a shame that Dermot Morgan died shortly after this - he was a brilliant comedian.
It’s three Catholic priests (Ted, Dougal and Jack) living together on a tiny Irish island called Craggy Island… part of the humour here is it spread so quickly because it’s such a tiny and close knit population where everyone knows everyone else’s business, and also it’s way too tiny to have a hitherto unknown ‘Chinatown’ area… 😂
It’s a work of comedy genius. The actor playing Father Ted, Dermot Morgan, died of a heart attack, aged 45 in 1998, shortly after filming had been completed on the third series.
I feel like a weirdo for fixating on that unbelievable background transition - from a whole Chinese family passing close by his window to the lush meadows outside. Damn, age has changed me. 🤣🤷♂️
@Necramonium You're a breath of fresh air! Thank you for the explanation. 😉👍
Every episode is an absolute gem ,but my favorite has to be when they went on holiday and had to share the small caravan with Graham Norton .
The full scene also has him doing a Roman Salute with ash on his moustache washing a window and it builds up more 🤭
This show is amazing, super funny and lighthearted to just watch and forget about the day.
Yo y'all gatta do a live stream marathon!...make a playlist and go down the line with a timed 2 minute break then on the the next video...yall should host a live ama too. peace n love been a fan since the early daze.
guys this may be owned by an English company but it's actually an Irish production. Written by Irish people (Arthur Matthews and Graham Linehan) and acted by Irish people.
Boys! Can you pleeeeaee ready to a Pingtr1p video already! Lol. Do Pingtr1p’ “Joe Rogan completely loses his mind”. I’ve requested it like 25 times, I earned the reaction 😂
Father Ted is a brilliant series, anyone who hasn’t, watch it, you will not be disappointed.
The funniest British show I ever watched was faulty towers, the episode is called The Kipper and the Corpse
Well worth a watch. funny as ...... This episode is a lot more than this clip.
You guys should watch some Nuke's Top 5 again. I miss seeing the spooked reactions.
and kingfrostmare
The only time their eyes are wide open.
It's an IRISH comedy show from 1995-1998 set on a fictional island off the West Coast of Ireland 🇮🇪
Father Ted was played by Dermot Morgan who sadly died on the 28th February 1998, he was 45 years old 😥
1952-1998.

One of my Absolute Favorite Sitcoms!!! Great show!!!
"Laugh track" - most of the indoor scenes were done in front of a live audience so it's real laughter you can hear - LOL!!
It's Irish, not English. It is based on a fictional island in Ireland.
More Father Ted, Please!
When you wondered how everyone in the town found out about the priest being racist so quickly (2:38), there is good reason for that. In the full episode, there is a big chunk of time that was cut out of the clip we all watched with you guys. If you watch the full episode I added below, you'll see that between this time here (8 : 42 - 10 : 33), this all happened in between the priest getting busted through the window by the Asian family, and stepping outside. This clips full episode: (S3 Ep1) th-cam.com/video/QcBTTL9_bgI/w-d-xo.html
That man looks like he is half asleep😂
It’s an Irish sitcom from the 1990’s. Should check more of it out. Really funny.
You need to see the full episode if you can, it is hilarious, like all the episodes of Father Ted!
It's an Irish program and takes place on a tiny island off the coast of Kerry in Ireland. It's called father ted.
You guys need to watch more Father Ted. It’s older but really funny! Not sure where to start to recommend an episode as they’re all so funny!
I love the Cat asleep on the back of the sofa! :)
Big Bang Theory was the last successful sitcom made with a laugh track, I believe.
Blooming brilliant lads! If I was ever to do a reaction to a reaction this would be the one! 🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Father Ted is set on a tiny island off the west coast of Ireland (representing Ireland). There could not conceivably be a china-town on such a tiny island, but "I hear you're a racist now Father" is such a classic line!
People heared he's a racist so quickly because the writers were just playing on how small the island is. Father Ted is brilliant.
To be fair the clip shown edited that. When Ted runs out after the Chinese people he catches up to them and tries to apologise. The scene with the farmer and the woman was the next day.
@@karlbassett8485 yes, of course, but everyone knew in that short time, is what I meant. It's a classic and still shown on T.V.
