Really nice! Thanks for the additional informations. In case it is interesting for some of you, I am using the Aquila red strings on both, Chonguri and Panduri. Usually the discant strings for a usual classical guitar. In my ears, it is an improvement in sound and playability. As always, a matter of personal taste of course.
I know what you mean. It's always personal taste. The original low tension strings make it sound more traditional. Using guitar strings can of course improve the sound.
Great performance! It's very delicate and beautiful. Where did you buy this Chonguri? I play classical guitar. Does this sound just by changing the Chonguri strings to nylon strings?
@@markuswach Thank you. I emailed the shop. The high and delicate sound that flows in 1 to 2 seconds of your video is beautiful. I feel that it's a different impression from the traditional chonguri sound. Are you doing anything special to chonguri? Are you changing strings or tuning to something special?
@@markuswach By the way, I first learned about you as a musician today. I also like traditional musical instruments, and now I am collecting old musical instruments. It's nice to meet a great musician like you. I am very happy.
Hey I just came back from Georgia and got a couple Panduri and chonguri, I'm scouring the internet looking for proper tuning of this thing and found nothing. What do you know about the tuning of this thing? I've read that even the Panduri doesn't have a standard tuning. But rather tuned per song.
@@markuswach wow that's so interesting, thank you so much. I play bass and guitar but never fretless. I almost got chonguri with frets because I was scared but wanted traditional fretless. Where does small string begin, 12 fret?

music is good
Thanks Monika
Might be great having a coffee and sitting there while you play that instrument
Then I would probably have to stop playing and also take a coffee 🙂

I play classical guitar.

Thank you. My friend from hangebi.ge got it for me. It's nowadays actually always equipped with nylon strings. Long time ago horsehair was used.

@@hitomihiguchi2064 maybe you're mixing it up with the georgian Panduri, that has a much stronger and high pitched sound?
Never seen one before. There is one of these selling hair in West Jordan Utah in 2021 for $300

Yes, there are different tunings. Standard would for the chonguri be FAC main strings and small string F or E.

@@jamespapiashvili8127 the small string starts about between 4/5th fret
@@markuswach so low? It's so much higher on the neck for me. Both my chonguri has very high
@@jamespapiashvili8127 sorry, yes it's about 6th or 7th fret on my Chonguri, about the note A
