Traxxas Sledge | Can You Race It? Taking the Sledge to the RC Track.

- The Traxxas Sledge (www.avantlink.com/click.php?t...) has certainly made waves in the basher RC world!
Question though - how does the Traxxas Sledge race? Is it competitive in the e-truggy world?
I take mine to the RC Farm in Crossville, TN ( / rc-farm-105135097764710 ) to turn some laps and find out!

Real good video! Just picked up a sledge and plan on doing tires and servo to start. There’s nothing like beating just a few high end trucks with a RTR truggy. Reminds me when I raced 2wd slash at OCRC and somehow got 3rd in the amain. I was so happy lol

Hello Troy again. Im now happy with Typhon 6S on the track but want also adjust Sledge for track. I have Response pro tires, but also hesitating about change all diff oil for lighter.
Reason why is, better handling. Because Sledge by default has 20 million oil in the central diff and many users keep it for not balooning tires. But competition trugges has much lighter oil, there are oils bellow 20k for example. What is your opinion on this? I think, lighter oil must lead to way better handling on the ground and also in the air.
Yes - I agree. You will want to copy normal diff weights from race truggies.
However, I tried...and Sledge is still very slow on the track. Just too much weight compared to other vehicles. Plus, suspension alignment is not great.
Hello Troy. Have you got stock or faster servo for this attempts? I have now 0.06s 30kg servo on the Sledge and stock is 0.25s on 6V so its 4times faster than lazy stock one. Again really good content from you. Im thinking about Typhon 6S, but already bought 7years old TLR22 SCT 2.0 2WD without electronic and i plan to give there super light e-revo 1/16 batt. You can do it also. Faster servo if there is still the stock one. And try some 4S super light battery. Because you do not need long run time for the few rounds. There can be 4x lower mAmps, than the standard bash setup :-)
You are correct- I am still running the stock servo. Could feel the slow speed in 2 corners, but otherwise was fine.

Hello. Why do you say that you can compete with 4s? Isn't it better with 6s?
The rules only allow 4S. 6S is not allowed in racing.
You can build a TLR eight-t for the same price in Canada which is suited for racing.
That makes sense to me!
I really like all your videos and I try to watch the majority of it. Can you invest $800 and have one 1/8 scale Truggy to do everything? The answer will alway be NO. Racing kits are a complete different animal. If you really just want to race, please do yourself a favor build a kit from one of 10 chassis manufacturers out there. Every single one of them are better then the sledge to race. Please don’t take my post on a negative way. I think you do a phenomenal job, especially for beginners. Keep it up!
