I remember watching this at my grandmother's house when it first aired over Christmas break, 1988-89. I have been looking for it forever online. This news documentary did an excellent job showing the various social classes in high school in the 1980s in non-stereotypical fashion (unlike the fictional high school clique movies of the period). Thank you so very much for posting.
This was a horrible representation of South High School. 48 hours was dishonest in so many ways and made South look like a bunch of unruly kids that didn't want to learn or incapable of learning and how much better Grove City was. So much was recorded the days that 48 hrs was at our school and they did not represent us fairly.
Stephen thank you for that response. Did South have it's flaws? Of course it did but I hated how they weren't honest about the good and bad of both schools.
And trust me, Grove City had its flaws too but CBS totally ignored it. I still recall walking into first period and my teacher saying "Wow! What school was that? I wanna teach there!". A few weeks later there was a large drug bust at GC and the rumor was South/CCS were "behind" the bust to make GC look bad
They did it tonboth schools, creating fake moments make each school look at certain way. Even down to some of the kids they picked, the music, the homes they showed, the classes. Very manipulated

I agree. I was a junior at Grove City when this was filmed and after it aired I thought “wow. They really made GC look good”
