When I grow up, I want to be able to watercolor the way you do (by the way, I'm a couple months away from being 75). What lovely cards you made with the BetterPress and thanks for showing how to use other cardstocks with it. Great video.
This is one of the nicest comments I've ever gotten. Watercoloring definitely takes some practice to get the feel for it, but once it clicks it's a piece of cake! ❤️
@Studio Kato • This was a very helpful video. The tips on using the paper towel & pre-moistening the cardstock can be used for any card from just the outline to coloring with any watercolor, ink, etc. Your comparison of the cardstock properties as well as the different skills for embossed versus debossed images is exactly the type of information that prevents us from making errors that frustrate us because the results are less than stellar. Great job & beautiful cards. Thank you! 👍
Thank you so much for these videos and especially for the suggestion to use a paper towel backing. That one suggestion has opened so many possibilities for me with my Betterpress. All your comments are very helpful and I appreciate your sharing them with us. I don’t watercolor much but I am going to try your ideas. I might mention that I have had good success using the Lavinia Elements ink pads with these plates. The Betterpress ink is the best, but the Elements line is a close second.
Oh that's interesting to know! I've since experimented just a little with various dye inks and if they have a felt pad, it's manageable to use them with the BetterPress (but I still need to learn not to overink my BetterPress plates if I use regular dye inks).
Oh I'm so happy you're having an easy time watercoloring these! 😁 for me it was a little bit of an adjustment, I definitely colored outside of the lines a little more than usual 🤣
Oh I love the Ecoline watercolors, hope you enjoy them too! I'm very much enjoying the Betterpress but yeah, I don't think it's for everyone. 😊 if you have a glimmer system, it's a little bit less of an investment since you can also use the betterpress plates for foiling. 😊
Thank you so much! This is a number 4 Silver Black Velvet brush. These are definitely an investment, but they last a long time! If this is outside of your price range, I'd recommend going to a local art supply store and asking about natural fibre brushes, still not cheap, but usually not as expensive! And just like the Silver Black Velvet brushes, they hold their shape/fine point better over time!
I use a new one each time for the betterpress because it flattens out a lot once it goes through. I do keep the used pieces for cleaning or watercoloring etc...
I think that would defeat the point, because you'll raise the debossed outline again. In any case, it's impossible to emboss with the Betterpress ink, you would be able to heat emboss these images if you inked it up with embossing ink I suppose. 😊
I wish spellbinders would offers more plates! I love themALL!
Absolutely stunning cards!!

It's never too late to learn something new!

@@StudioKato It's more fun to be nice and say how you feel about someone doing something awesome. It's wonderful to feel appreciated. Thanks.
This was a great and informative video, especially about water coloring. Thank you so much. The panels are just gorgeous.
Thank you! I'm so happy you found the video helpful! ❤️
Beautiful cards and great instructions
Oh thank you so much 😍

Yes, I am finding these images very easy to watercolor and I really wasn't into water coloring before.

Beautiful cards
Thank you so much! ❤️
Absolutely beautiful cards.
Thanks so much 🥰
Love this!! I am impatiently waiting for the delivery of my betterpress system!!! Thank you for your tips with Canson XL which i have a lot of!❤
Oh thank you so much! I can't wait to see what you'll make with the Betterpress system!!
Your coloring is beautiful ❤
So pretty! Thanks for the info regarding papers and water colours.
So pretty 😍
Oh thank you so much!! These detailed Betterpress plates make it easy!
These are gorgeous!! I can't wait to try out the EcoLine watercolors. I'm still undecided about the Betterpress system. 💕

Beautiful! Thank you!!
These are gorgeous cards by the way.
Thanks for this video and for the paper towel hack! Your watercoloring is beautiful. What brush did you use? I really liked the fine point.

The cards are gorgeous! I wish I could see them in person as I found that the pictures don't do the debossed justice
Pictures really don't do BetterPress cards justice, they're so difficult to photograph. 🤣Thank you so much!
Beautiful. What brush are you using?
Thank you! I'm pretty sure that was a Silver Black Velvet brush number 4 🥰
@@StudioKato Thank you!
Do you use a new paper towel behind the paper each time or can it be reused?
I use a new one each time for the betterpress because it flattens out a lot once it goes through. I do keep the used pieces for cleaning or watercoloring etc...
@@StudioKato Thank you! I figured they would probably get squashed, but I don't have a Betterpress yet, so couldn't test it out for myself.
Beautiful coloring. FYI, cotton paper isn't really referred to as cardstock. It's paper or rag. :)
Oh thank you! That's so interesting! Now watch me know this information and still misspeak in my videos... 😂
Is it possible to heat emboss the image prior to coloring?
I think that would defeat the point, because you'll raise the debossed outline again. In any case, it's impossible to emboss with the Betterpress ink, you would be able to heat emboss these images if you inked it up with embossing ink I suppose. 😊
Im surprised they havent created different sentiments for the center by now.
