Excellent video. For those of you torn between buying the two machines, I recently saw a video by Seven Hill Crafts where they used the press plates with a manual die cutting machine by simply adding an additional flexible mat that cost £12 on Amazon. Then if your budget allows, you could purchase the hot foil machine and get the best of both worlds.
I don’t have either machines. Guess I am not sold on either. I wanted to know more about these so I appreciated this video. It helped me to process. I know I like to experiment with different techniques but I think for me these products would take me away from what I enjoy most which is coloring, cutting, gluing, glittering, and in general inkyness. Thanks Justine
Love the cards Justine. Gorgeous! Thank you for showing mistakes. Watching you problem solve issues is extremely helpful and reminds me not to become frustrated if I don't get perfect results the first time. 😊
I love foiling best. I don't have the betterpress but I'm not sure it's worth the money. Here in Canada everything is alot more expensive especially the shipping lol. Beautiful cards!
I have a Glimmer machine and am unsure whether I'll get the BetterPress. I might invest in a few BetterPress plates, though, after seeing how well they foil.
I haven't jumped on the Better Press bandwagon but I have bought a few of the plates to use in my hot foil machine. They make beautiful Better Press plates that are really hard to resist so I'm glad they're perfectly lovely used in the foil machine. I also feel I can basically get the same look with my hot foil using the matte foil that's available.
Good tips. I have both machines…haven’t played with my Better Press that much. I’m not sure how much of an impression I should be getting and it’s hard to tell from videos. Maybe I’m expecting too much. I use the cotton card stock provided with the machine. I do love the detail.
I love the Shiny Side Down note.😊 It will save me a lot of "oh craps" in the future. I have both and liked the hot foil best, but this puts another spin on the better press for me.
Just bought the Betterpress system (birthday present to me from me)! Initial results are excellent! Great detail and SO VERY EASY! BP is only $62 on Amazon now, which I felt a reasonable price. Tested watercolor paper I had on hand, and they worked beautifully...which had been a concern. Also have the Glimmer machine, which hasn't had that much use, but now that I have the BP system and those plates work with Glimmer, it will motivate me! Love your examples in this video...that cover plate is especially nice!
SUBSCRIBED! I don't know why I wasn't LOL Love your tutorials and loved your presentation at Card Makers Summit!! Thank you for this tutorial! I need more supplies for both machines but will now focus more on Better Press Plates since they work for both machines!
Your cards were beautiful love the foil on cards! Enjoy the video you give great instructions! I had Subscribed to your channel before do know what happened though but have Subscribed again, thank you for teaching and sharing! Hugs Liz 😊
Hey Justine this is such a helpful tutorial - thank you 🙏. I am new to card making but I jumped right in and bought the Better Press, Glimmer machine and a die cutting machine. Now I need to learn all the techniques! I love yours idea of cutting an all-over design into segments or using to make a pretty frame. Happy Birthday - hope you reach your subscriber goal ❤
Beautiful cards, however, I cannot afford to purchase Hot Foil or Better Press plates. So I will not try any ideas on this video! It's nice but I just cannot keep purchasing the next new idea! Too expensive for my blood 😥😥
I feel similarly. One can only make so many cards with the same patterns of (expensive) plates! I do have a mini minc machine and love to foil with it! Crafty Critta in Australia ( great folks, pricing and shipping to US), and Pink and Main have great quality foil and printed toner sheets as well as colored toner sheets. You can get 2 card panels from one piece of foil, lots of variety of graphics and much less investment! Gina Knslso has new polyglaze sheets of designs that work great. Just fyi …..
Hey Justine, loved your comparison. Great information!! I am interested in the foiling video you mentioned but didn’t see a link for it anywhere. Could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks so much for all of your tips and tricks and helpful information!!
The link appears on-screen at the 10:48 minute mark. It's on the top left-hand side of the screen, and you just have to tap or click on it for it to play automatically.
Very annoyed with myself that I gave in and bought the better press. I only bought it because the web site said you could use a big shot as well as the spellbinders…however it doesn’t work. My images look like a stamped image, nothing special at all, plus I don’t like that you can’t die cut most of the images. Never got into the hot foil…too many mistakes when I see you tube videos of it. I don’t want to have to buy extra tools just to take care of the mistakes in hot foiling😢
Justine, if you want to use a thicker sentiment, just dust with cornstarch or baby powder and it will get rid of the stickiness. Blessings!
Very helpful, gorgeous card fronts

I absolutely love when you review things or compare products... it really helps me decide on my purchases!!

Better yet label it pretty side down lol. Some foils are shiny on both sides

I have both, and your tips were great. You will get to 100K for sure❤
When foiling, do you use the better press paper or card stock?
normal cardstock
Just subscribed, also an April birthday. 100K birthday gift to you!🎂
Better press is too expensive at least for me. I have a Minc. I use embossing powder with colors.
