28:53 Minor correction when I was talking about multiclassing here - Barbarian actually just requires you to just be non-lawful, not to be chaotic. You still can't multiclass Barbarian and Monk though. If I get anything wrong at any point feel free to correct me in the comments!
This is very very good. I almost wanted to start a YT channel just for this. We need fresh account gameplay and guide for new players, I hope they pin this in the forums etc..!
I love the series so far Axel! My completion OCDs always activate whenever you pass an unbroken barrel, crate or pass over a potion, pile of coins or a treasure/collector bag! LOL Oh, and I always target the casters first to mitigate getting held or fear cast on me.
lol, I do miss remnants sometimes by accident. I sometimes feel the impulse to break every barrel I see too but I'm not going for ransack at all for the most part so I try to not. I will usually pick up items I see dropping from barrels on this character, just because I need all the platinum I can get. I am trying to not miss the collectibles, hoping I can trade in for augments eventually.
Hey, just wanted to say that I am loving this series-- The last time I was really playing was as a kid back when Faerun was brand new. I've been collecting all of the expansions the last few years but never really jumped back into the game, until I saw this series! Been subbed for awhile but thought I would leave a comment saying thank you for this!
31:42 this part you mentioned can have a rare there as well, so two chests can be available to get so if you want to swim under the water as the spot you shown to get a GREATSWORD hmm it would be worth it
Super stuff this Axel - brings back plenty of memories when i started with a paladin trapper build for new players i found in the forum. Ahhh the joys of early ooze - in the caster life i just did i was hopeless against them as they were totally immune to both cold and fire & that's all i had to offer at that point :) I think you could have been ok using that unholy great sword - afaik it's just -5 hp and -1 attack? I like the discussions on helpful items for the build and defences in general.
@@airedaleone5542 Yeah, I should have held onto it and just dealt with the neg level. I just was not expecting the greatsword drought to go on this long. Oh well. It's kinda nuts how unlucky I've been on greatswords. I've looted a dozen greataxes. There is a named ML 6 keen great sword I may end up farming out in the Tear of Dhakaan quest here soon.
@@AxelAlexK From my own experience in a past monk life it's just always the case. The instant you state it as a goal to look for x type of weapon that type just deserts you, end of :) In my case it was shurikens - ran 2 full chains looking specifically for named ones in end rewards - snow star and whatever the one from STK is - and total blank - it became pretty much a running joke that life. Why the no auction house policy btw as new players would have access to that also & might be nice to show them what can be found & the more desirable things to look for on a weapon. The Tear brings back memories for me also - got torn apart in there on hard as a genuine first lifer back in the day - that was the day after a 'friendly' paladin invited me into the pvp area & proceeded to demonstrate the effectiveness of his guards as i promptly suicided on them sigh...
@@airedaleone5542no auction house is just for a personal challenge. New players should totally use the auction house. I may change the title of this series. It started out mostly as a free to play guide series in episode 1 but has evolved into more of a let's playvseries at this point.
@@AxelAlexK Re title there's no reason imo why one option should exclude the other - i haven't had chance to see them all yet but from those i've seen you've had loads of nice things to share with new players, not least the quest chains they have access to. One thing i do like from watching your progress is the attention given to any chest or end reward list, which reminds me it might be nice to try a life one day (maybe something i've little experience with & no gear for anyway) using only what's collected along the way. Of course that boosts the challenge factor but also the relevance of random loot found, as well as providing ample opportunity to discuss with folks the desirable gear attributes for your build.
Sometimes if you uncheck box in settings to get quests items for your class to off you might get a sword other classes do use great swords instead of keeping the box check for your class
Would you recommend a subscription or just purchase the Adventure Packs? I noticed that the expansions are a completely separate purchase if you are subbed or not, and some have really expensive options.
I've debated this and it all boiled down to for me "If I ever can't afford to make the VIP payment I'll lose access to everything." Looking into sales and DDO Point bonus days I've decided if I spend money it'll be better to just buy things. VIP doesn't offer anything a player like me anything of value. Maybe buy it one month and then favour farm your heart out on all 8 servers, farming all 8 servers to 1000 favour would net you 6000ish DDO Points and would be EZPZ while you can unlock on elite and have access to all the packs + you get the 500 DDO Points + 500 more for 'finishing' the first VIP month.
@@boxerboss5284 Depends on how much you play and what you're looking to do. If you didn't claim the free coupon code promotion, I would probably say VIP for a new player. It gives you access to any difficulty, which is huge and gives you access to all quest content other than expansions. Watch out for Black Friday and holiday sales for expansions. They always get put on huge discounts. I would not be surprised if they bring the free coupon code back as well, so jump on those.

Oh wow I've been picking up collectibles all over the place and didn't know you could get pots like that from some of them. I'm looking at the Wiki now and only seeing Xovun Chalk gives you Medium Experience Elixir for 3 Small Eberron Dragonshard Fragment. Good to know and keep in the bank for when I TR. Edit: Tara Wightraven gives a Major Experience Elixir for 3 Medium Eberron Dragonshard Fragments. Bowdlin gives a Lesser Treasure Hunter's Elixir for 3 Large Eberron Dragonshard Fragments.
@@boxerboss5284 No, but once you unlock veteran status you can start new characters at level 4, and level 7 for vet status 2. You can choose to skip korthos for that. You can also start any iconic at level 15.
Sadly you can't get a thief hireling till lvl21, wish the game would let you buy at a hireling vendor a thief to help with traps for a free player so you would have a bit of easier time doing elite
And what about the yellow dragon shards for binding your weapon I know low LVL stuff is replaceable, but I see you're not collecting items to sell and if you use these yellow shards and go to market to use alter to bind them they don't get destroyed by mobs like oozes they are repairable not red OMG there destroyed
Yeah that's not a bad idea. I could show how to bind at the stone of change, if I have the fragments for it. Permanent damage typically isn't a big deal though since you pretty quickly out level random gen gear anyway. Also I appreciate all the comments but no need to make a dozen separate comments every time, just edit your first comment and add to it. I'll read it all.
21:19 there is underwater option here wear there is a chest hmm lol, and it seems you're still playing like a veteran now truly new player would be collecting every thing he can to make cash and red bag items etc

I love this video format bro
Enjoying the series fun to watch - I have played ddo on and off again since it came out - always nice to refresh my memory on how things work thxs
Cool glad you like it. Haven't uploaded a new episode in a little bit just busy with other things but I want to do more of them.
I am currently playing a 4th level rogue and he is mirroring your videos. Thanks for this guide!

25:22 here underwater room where a rare is and another chest one of two spots the koldot rare can be found
For your toon looking for a great sword, passing up chests like the optional spiders has a chest
As well in setting you can change the colour or design of your dice
Sometimes even the bags give you a chance getting a dragon shard
The sexy bald man of DDO
Sometimes if you uncheck box in settings to get quests items for your class to off you might get a sword other classes do use great swords instead of keeping the box check for your class
Cause as you know when you turn in red bag items you can get (blots, arrows, and healing pots) which can help a new player
