I was f2p but brought content so I owned it if you subside is vip unless you used the DDO points to purchase DLC you would go bk to f2p . Just what worked for me 😊
Thank you ! Appreciated. Hey, yes, sort of, the premise is the same; the main difference is in the ruleset; BG3 is based purely on a modified 5e, while DDO is based on a modified 3.0 (over the years they've added elements of 3.5, 4, and 5) - from a ttrpg perspective 5e is vastly different than 3.0 - for example there's no advantage/disadvantage rolls in 3.0. The way some classes play is different, for example paladins in 3.0 function different being keyed around lawful good where in 5e they are keyed around an oath that could be any align (generally); and many of the racial abilities are different; but you can certainly make similar characters - so if you had a wild sorc in bg3, you can make a wild sorc in ddo; cleric, rogue, fighter, etc its all the same - i played a drow fey pact warlock in bg3 and i play a drow fey pact warlock in ddo.
@ I watched your video on new player classes. The cleric seems like a solid choice. Played Shadowheart as a strictly Light domain cleric. Also did a lot of multi-classing with other characters (bard/fighter) so just looking forward to playing with the older rule set - thanks!
@@scrims83 yes, you can do a shadowheart build with her in light domain; i actually made a shadowheart build for hardcore; i likely will update all my builds in 2025 since we got a level increase.
Hey thanks, I implied it in the talks about microtransactions, but it is something that I could probably make a separate video about; I skipped iconics completely so when I do their video, I will add the racial/species lockouts. I really think DDO should adopt PoE's monetization model - I really do think PoE has one of the best on the market - the game's completely free, but you can buy cosmetics and conveniences - nothing that boosts your power - but there's lots and lots of cool things to buy to support the game. Many of DDO's a-la-carte pay items are very dated from when freetoplay was new and first introduced, the market is vastly different now thanks to games like Genshin Impact and other gatcha games - Genshin is also totally free, but they monetize characters, weapons, cosmetics, conveniences - so its 100% pay to win, but you could still play the game 100% for free - all the gameplay systems are available.
what do you mean artificer was dropped know they're still making content for it in 5e and for D&D one they will probably come out with it later when they get to ever on like they did with 5e.
This fall the new 2024 books are releasing, DM guide, player handbook, monster manual, etc - what I read in the article from wizards of the coast is that artificer was dropped from this new players handbook. That doesnt mean its removed from 5e or existing modules or campaigns, obviously any DM can home brew whatever and allow classes/races from any ruleset. I haven't seen the new players handbook, but was surprised by the news because artificer is pretty fun. I think it references what we know from DDO though, that Eberron and the quasi-steam-punk-robot-magic-gun-powder fantasy is way less popular than the traditional quasi-tolkien high fantasy of the Forgotten Realms. Likely there will be more news about these new books and I will cover it.
Hey, welcome to DDO - you're fine, luckily fighter is pretty basic; you can always 'lesser reincarnate' which will allow you to rebuild your levels and feats from scratch, making all your own custom selections. You could also talk to Fred in House Jurasco to swap out individual feats if you did not want to spend money on the lesser heart of wood for the lesser reincarnation. There presently is no way to earn lesser hearts in game (a massive grip of mine) but something you could do too, if you are planning to reincarnate at all and acquire heroic past lives, you could just do a heroic heart of wood and reincarnate and take the fighter life, then if you do another fighter or any other class you know now to select custom. Any questions ask, I'm happy to help.
i think you can have up to 20 quickbars, here's the link to the wiki ddowiki.com/page/Quickbar there's a small arrow on the side of the bar you can tap to expand to another bar. Another idea is to look at the DDO uis at this link ddowiki.com/page/User_interface
the character you showcased at the beginning of the video, which doesn't flap her wings, which just glides everywhere like a freaking 2d sprite in a 3d game with zero animation could be the best choice to make a person pass on this game. if i didn't know this game, i'd say "wtf is this LOL."
Those wings are very soyboi, but they are one of the most sought after Hardcore League rewards behind the bloody footprints which makes them FOMO, though that footage used for the video was not selected for FOMO, but because it was from the Ilithid event, since statistically ddo traffic increased by people having played BG3 looking for more D&D in a video game. Also, I agree with you that the wings could be more animated, however, of the DDO wings, they are the most animated, followed by the year of the dragon blue wings, and the Reaper wings (which do not move at all no matter what you do)
50th anniversary of D&D I showcase the roots of the original books by inserting images from the pen & paper to emphasize the rich roots of the video game we have that comes from the 1970 og group created by Gary Gygax.
Commenting for the algo. Really useful video for players and well bookmarked.
thank you !
Wow this is quite a thing you did 🤍 sharing with my group! Thanks as always Mary.
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic guide - nice job as always!
Thank you kindly!
I felt like the Dylan quote: Take me on a trip upon your magic swirling ship. Good work!
Thank you!
Thank you for all your hard work as always :)
Thanks for watching !
This video is a complete masterpiece! Thank you.
thank you!
insane work. thanks for your effort to make this game more appealing to new players :)
Much appreciated!
My first character in Dec of 06 was a warforged cleric.
nice! My first was an elf sorcerer, though when the dragon raid came out i switched and ran an elf cleric as a healer.

solid
I found it easy to make friends in game just by joining lfm groups, as I knew no one who played irl 😊
Nice video. Strong work. What is your name on the DDO forums for your builds? I couldn't get to the DDO forums via your links.

So I could kinda make a build from BG3 here? I’m extremely interested in that.
