Brilliant Hils. Although we lived about 3 miles from Reading station, I could hear the Basingstoke Thumper clearly from my bedroom at night, happy memories 😊. Don't want to fuss, but I hope that you have someone with you when you shooting at night?🤔
Wonderful video.....well up to your usual standards, despite the jobsworth at Wandsworth Road! Doesn't the unit look strange with the wider-bodied 4-CEP (Class 411) and 4-BIG (Class 422) vehicles in the middle?.....a bit like two of the old "Tadpole" hybrid units that used to work the Reading - Redhill - Tonbridge services. When I was a guard at Brighton in the mid-eighties, we used to work the six car Hastings units between St. Leonards Depot and Havant on a Saturday - en route to and from Eastleigh Works before or after overhaul and they were very noisy in the guard's compartment, right next to the engine room.
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 Too right they didn't...... and that's one of the reasons that I'm half deaf now! (The other reasons being classes 33, 37, 47 & 56!)
It must be the same bloke at Wandsworth Road who was sniffy about someone else's tripod a little while back. Obviously has fond memories of working for British Rail, where jobsworths were right at home
Interesting !
Great video Hils, and Merry Christmas!
Thank you Simon. Happy new year to you! 😊 Hilary
Ah yes the sound of a Thumper - lovely - thanks Hilary :)
Cheers! 😊Hilary

Thanks, Roger. Yes, I'm usually with someone else :-) Merry Christmas!

Thank you. Wow, that must have been something. I bet they didn't give you ear protection.....

Ha ha, yes! You’re spot on there. 😊 Hilary
A carbon copy of my Ravensbourne shot from last year, but with the set the other way round!
Oh yes, it's good spot just there!
Doesn't the nice warm lighting inside look cozy.
It certainly does. :-)
