Great job, thanks for commenting on bits and pieces as how to clean pistons with sandpaper.

Oh, by the way. When polishing the pistons with sandpaper you could jerryrig an adapter to a drill to fasten the pistons to it. That way you can just hold the sandpaper to the piston and wroom wroom! :D

Thanks for the video! It really helped to prepare us for what to expect when disassembling the SMC and reassemble with a Honda SMC rebuild kit. We couldn't get the piston to budge with a rubber mallet, so we used compressed air to blow it out just like you did for the filter. The inside was the opposite of yours - the bore was perfect, but the flat surface that the circlip seals against looked corroded but felt smooth, so we just sprayed it down with brake cleaner and reassembled with the new parts. The piston moved freely and even popped itself out if we pressed it in too far. Reinstalling the circlip was the hardest part.

Change that brake fluid every 12000 miles or 2 years which ever comes first.

Yup! That`s roughly 20 000km to us metric people! ;D

Sometimes the SMC repair kit won’t fix the problem and you need to replace the entire SMC assembly. There is a tiny pin hole that clogs up if fluid isn’t changed and this is near impossible to clear again, so your piston works in pumping fluid to the rear brake but if that hole is clogged up when you release the brake the fluid can’t return… and you get a binding rear brake again, even with an smc repair kit used. Only way to fix is to replace the assembly and ensure you change fluid every 2 years otherwise you end up in the same mess again!
I had a repair kit installed on mine and it didn’t fix the rear binding, had to fork out for the assembly 😢

Would an ultrasonic cleaner bath be useful for stuff like this ?

Good job cleaning it out . My piston was out of round causing binding . Buy a rebuild kit and get the entire piston assy.

Yes, you can find all matters of binding issues with this thing. The reason I did my repair the way I did was that I could not get my hands on a repair kit.

Did cleaning the bracket parts solve the rear brake dragging problem?

Well.. I did more than just clean the bracket parts. I also gave the rear brake caliper some much needed TLC. But the bracket parts were completely stuck on my bike, so yes. It works now. :) You will always have some contact between the disc and the pads, but the drag is at a "normal" level now.

Hey there! If I understand you correctly you have no power to the fuel pump? Checked fuses?
