It is a pleasure having found your videos and following along on your bike journey. My partner and I also did a bike tour from Northern Europe and left Spain and entered Morocco from Almeria to Melilla by ferry. We also biked a bit on the Via Verde Del Aceite and learned the hard way about the special hell that is the southern Spanish clay mud. The pandemic ended our tour and I have been very nostalgic for that life ever since. Safe travels and hope to see you on the road someday!
Cheers Daniel, thanks for watching and commenting! haha that mud is crazy man, fun times :) Glad to hear you came through Melilla and went on through to Morocco...I am still hoping to do this some day as the land border here is still closed. Hopefully you manage to get back touring again soon and for sure, hope to see you guys too out there!
Summer 2020 would have been at the tail-end of the very bad period of the pandemic. No surprise that all the towns and roads are empty. 7:46 - the sign translates as Source of miss-steps. Pretty relevant! Your bike.... is a Thorn Nomad? Yes, pretty heavy to go lifting it over a 1.5m locked gate. I have the Thorn Nomad MkII. Hate having to do that.
Yes, it’s a Nomad MK2 🙂and yup, as you know, pretty hefty! I was lucky I could stand on that gate to just about get it over, luckily it has so far been the first and last time I’ve had to gate hop 😅the emptiness was definitely noticeable in the cities with virtually no tourists about, the countryside is typically beautifully deserted.
Must have been a great trip. Amazing how beautiful Spain is, but bloody hot in the summer. Liked it. Very motivating, this makes me want to go out on my bike again.
Cheers once again for watching Jay! Glad I could enable a trip down memory lane :) I am off to Malaga tomorrow to start my next tour so it will be a few months until the next parts as that summer I looped back to Malaga from the east side - you may have cycled those hills too. Safe riding Jay.
@@kvbcycles Yeah, it was definitely nostalgic. However, at that time I was heavily into tennis and hadn't been cycling for a while. I took the opportunity to play a stack of clay court tennis while I was there.
Love the scenery and your photography and the tour - not so keen on the loudish music though! Seen quite a few of your adventures and they look fantastic- Thanks for sharing them and the inspiration
Thanks for watching and the feedback Andrew, much appreciated. Noted re music :) you make a good point, something I need to work on during filming, capturing footage with good sound quality, be it voice or natural environment, I struggle with that at the moment. Going to work on it this summer on my next tour. Fingers crossed :)

haha indeed Eric, bloody bloody hot in the summer. Thanks once more watching and comment, now, go ride! :)
Lived down the coastline from Malaga ten years ago. What a place and this brought back some brilliant memories. Thanks :)

@@Biking360 no way! I used to be a massive tennis player, always wanted to play on clay.
