    Very nice. I like how simple and straightforward you made Thule assembly of the barrel and gas block.

    Work of art! For some reason your build segment reminded me of the Nutcracker opening but instead of a wooden figurine it's a Galil 😂

    I laughed a bit when I saw the ginormous crescent wrench nut, you’d be amazed how many smaller gun producers do the same, even gun do that if it won’t damaged the weapon. While installing barrels on the M1 Garand and M1A’s down in Devine, TX we had one that’s 3 feet long! First we’d scrounge up some cheap plastic, like the kind for credit cards then we’d put the small piece of plastic between the wrench and the the barrel and it worked all the time, same for installing new barrels but you have to make sure it’s timed and headspace is set.

    Beautiful, the music fits perfectly. Like a European painter carefully planning his brushstrokes, the American headspaces and welds his art together.
    Sometime I might try putting together something cheaper and easier like a Pps-43, but that’ll probably be after I get reloading under my belt.

    • @bluekouki86
      @bluekouki86  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pps43 is harder than a galil I think. The bolt and FCG for the pps43 are very difficult to convert to semi.

      @@bluekouki86 what makes it easier is cost, I’ve seen parts kits go as cheap as $50 so I can mess up a kit and not hurt my wallet at all.

    • @bluekouki86
      @bluekouki86  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s true. I have a few more pps43 kit videos I’m working on. Keep an eye out, might have something that can help you.

    Premier choice my good man. I have to say, you using a hand file to make the handguard retainer grove is dedication. I just marked it and used a Dremel and round gring stone

    • @bluekouki86
      @bluekouki86  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I just use what I have. You can accomplish the same thing with next to nothing, or a million dollars worth of tooling. Just comes down to determination and availability. Hope you enjoyed!

    • @shawnwillis7561
      @shawnwillis7561 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluekouki86 yes sir. When I run the charging handle a few times the lever on the retainer does like to walk up and let the handguard loosen. I probably should have been patient and hand filed. I'll probably flare the pin in the retainer to give it more tension or make some kind of detent. I intend to get a micro galil parts kit and put whatever I can on my SAR so it's not gonna be a big concern

    I know this video has been up for a while but I would absolutely appreciate a reply. Did I miss the part of drilling the gas port? I have a M64 parts kit and some experience gunsmithing, even if it takes me years I would like to reweld and build my kit myself.
    Any help is appreciated, thank you.

    I'm usually pretty wary of resting all of that pressure on the bullet guide like that. For my stamped AKs I have a 1/4 piece of plate with a clearance cut for the other side of the top of the trunnion ear with the left side of the trunnion sitting on the arbor plate and the other side is supported vertically by the 1/4" plate, essentially creating 4 points of contact to help evenly distribute pressure if the barrel component wants to fight it's way while being pressed on. I'm assuming you didn't have to take too much, if any, material off the barrel shoulder to time it?

    • @bluekouki86
      @bluekouki86  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nothing was touching the bullet guide, it was supported with a home made copper puck on the barrel face. I had to barely touch the shoulder with a file to get it headspaced.

    • @provenancemachining
      @provenancemachining 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up having to do the same thing with one of my FAL barrels, though I did the old orbital sanding pad trick and slide it over the chamber threads, took material off that way. I heard guys used to do that back in the day when Type 3 kits were cheap and plentiful.

    any one calling the Russians dumb really needs to rethink that, sorry to say 'but' here. but.. holy crap that thing is chunky ' guse cause Russia was never really strapped for resources the only scarcity they ever saw was created, history reads that way anyway. don't know why they never sought to streamline them after the conflict.
