I have one of these beautiful beasts in 45-70 with a 10 inch barrel. They're not exaggerating about the quality either. It is solid, smooth and finely finished. Best revolver I own by far.

The Magnum Research BFR short cylinder is a rough copy of the Freedom Arms model 83 field grade.
The first Freedom Arms model 83 came into production in Freedom Wyoming in 1983.
I own a Freedom Arms Premier Grade model 83 in 454 Casull with accessory cylinders in 45 Colt, 45 Winchester Magnum and 45 Automatic. Now this a an excellent made revolver.

    Hi Alexa.
Hello to the folks at Magnum Research.
I just wanted to say that I absolutely love my BFR, in 45-70.
    10 inch barrel.
It was my first handgun purchase.
It is a magnificent piece of machining.
By this point in time, I have polished it so much, it has a mirror finish.
In 5 years I have put everything I can get my meathooks on through it.
I work in a firearms store, so I have my choice of ammunition.
    Including some pretty incredible handloads.
Modern Marlin loads included....no signs of over pressure.
300 grain up to 540 grain hand cast.
I have never experienced anything other than joy while I've owned it.
As a mechanic, heavy duty, automotive, commercial transport, and, machinist, I compliment you folks on this piece of hardware.
I have purchased several handguns since, but, this is still my favorite.
    From Tokarev to Rugers.
    Black powder Pietta.
    .44 magnum Super Redhawk.
    My B.F.R, is my favorite.
    I wanted a T.C. in .45-70 so I could match my rifles.
Upon stating my wishes to the owner of the store, who is now my boss, suggested you product.
I jumped on that instantly. ...
A decision I have never, in any way regretted.
It never fails to elicit comments of wonderment and awe at the range.
I let anyone that wants to, fire it.
    This gains more comments.
    Thank you folks once again...
A diehard fan, here in Canada.
    Joe...

500 Linebaugh 5.5 from the factory. Noticeably beefier frame than Ruger SBH and RH. Smooth trigger pull, very accurate and recoil is manageable. Light enough to carry on my hip cross draw all day. No fear of grizz, mountain lion or Sasquatch. Love it.

Single action design is useful for bigger powerful calibers because the simpler action is more durable, plus you don't risk double shots that happen under intense recoil like with a double action. Not to mention the ability to have every shot be as precisely placed as possible, because of the finely tuned trigger.

    • @thomaspeters5889
      @thomaspeters5889 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ok. However you can treat a double like a single simply by cocking the hammer. Same behavior.

    • @diktatoralexander88
      @diktatoralexander88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@thomaspeters5889 even with cocking it back, the mainspring is still light enough on a double to go back twice by the extra recoil. It's a real risk with the big caliber double actions.

I was going to buy a second ROA,but price point made me decide to get a 10" BFR in 45-70.I plan on mostly plinking with Black Powder loads, from 192 grn collar buttons,to 350 grn cast.Very similar to my Walkers for powder capacity and gun weight, but able to throw much bigger lead, more comfortable to shoot, and residue is confined to barrel and cylinder, not thrown into the lock and hammer mechanisms like cap-fired BP revolvers,so cleanup should be much easier.
Thanks for making a great US made revolver at a working man's price point!

I left the gun dealer and ended up driving back that day to pick it up. My only wish is I could've got the fluted cylinder and barrel. After owning the 10" barrel i now want to have a custom short barrel 45/70 built in the future. Also love to look of the 45lc/410 with the vent rib on the barrel.. Great video and keep up the great work.

I don't lown a BFR but I DO own two Desert Eagle's which are made in the same facility; a TiN .50AE (gorgeous!), and an early five digit serial number sold in 1991 .44 Mag DE. I can attest the customer service is second to none. They'll take the time to communicate, ask questions and get done what you need. For me it was a simple tune up for the .50 just to make sure it was perfect as I use it in a chest rig for the Bush here in Alaska, and the .44 for new springs and cleaning from the bottom up; it was kinda nasty inside.

I only own two BFRs, both are long cylinders chambered for 45-70, the first is the Standard 7-1/2-inch barrel and the second is the Bisley 7-1/2-inch. Both 7-1/2-inch revolvers have a balanced feel, shoot great, and the trigger pulls are crisp. My only real comment (complaint) is out-of-the-box, there is no pistol case included with either revolver and only the cardboard shipping carton is what all new buyers receive.
On the KAHR Firearms Group, BFR website, there is no aftermarket case offered for any BFR revolvers and the prices are on the higher side of retail with no customer consideration of sales prices offered for new handgun purchases or seasonal discounts for Memorial Day, Fourth of July (Independence Day), Veteran's Day, Black Friday, and even the Christmas Holiday Season which other firearm manufacturers do offer to their customers and also offer to the general public (Beretta, Mossberg, Remington, and Ruger). When someone spends in excess of one-thousand dollars for a handgun it sure-otta come with a lockable protective case; even the standard two-holes, one on the top and one on the bottom are sufficient for a small TSA 4-combination lock (with shackle or cable) to satisfy most restrictive state legislation and also to keep small-curious hands away from the contents.
I sure hope KAHR Firearms Group reads this comment and pays attention, that all handguns should come inside a lockable protective case, and at a bare minimum, a plastic case with the ability to be locked from the outside like other reputable firearm manufacturers include with their quality handguns including the likes of Beretta, Colt, Glock, and Springfield Armory to name a few. In addition, the inclusion of a one-piece plastic cleaning rod and combination barrel and nylon-cylinder brush would also be a thoughtful and considerate touch to customers. In many states, when being transported, firearms have to be unloaded and inside a locked case.
Since this quality single action revolver is made in the USA and should be compliant in nearly every state, I was rather surprised that there were no specific instructions on how to lock the cardboard shipping carton.

They dont seem to be reading comments and dont reply. Maybe drop them a letter. A little spent on a bunch of nice cases and a few sales holidays could really boost sales. You might sell 100 at $1000 or you could sell maybe 800 for $900 on a sales holiday and make many thousands more in profit.

I read that I personally couldn't just order a 450 marlin cylinder for interchange in my 4570 marlin that the tolerance would have to be matched with my pistol at magnum research. I would order one today if I didn't have to ship my gun back to M.R-BFR. IM afraid to attempt shipping nowadays with this fake virus besides I live on fixed income now. I wish you could say, yeah we will ship you a 450 marlin cylinder. Ive these 2 guns since late 90s. If the right person reads this message maybe they could help me. Thanks folks. 50yrs trucking an Im retired with arthritis and I dont get to shoot them without wincing a bit although im big an tall with baseball glove hands. I wish you folks could fix me up. They were $80 a cylinder then. Have a merry merry Christmas 🎅 good folks an your family's. I love guns as I have over 50 assorted pistols, rifles an shotguns. ☺😁

These guns are way to much 4 gentle female hands. The highest caliber a woman should go up to is .32 S&W long.
