Go Won's crunchy voice probably comes from the fact that she like chews her words. Like when she talks and sings you can see she doesn't open her mouth very much which leads to her unique vocal texture.

Hey! Been lurking for a long time but I want to say I love and appreciate your reactions so much. I have to say yyxy (pronounced why why by why) is my favorite subunit because of the setting and core message. Much of it is the idea of escaping a perceived utopia (Eden, where the subunit originates) to gain true freedom and acceptance of oneself. If you get the chance, watch the short video "One" that talks about the lore of yyxy!
Yves, as the first girl, takes a bite of the apple and gains knowledge and freedom to escape Eden, hence the song named "New". You see her transform into a freer, happier girl after biting the apple.
Chuu, of course admires Yves and follows soon after, taking a bite of her own fruit, and then Go Won after. Both of them are marked by the idea of accepting themselves and their true emotions.
The only outlier is Olivia Hye, who is rejected by Yves and not given the knowledge to escape Eden. In her anger, she decides to escape Eden herself without the rest of the girls' help.
This plotline is played out not only in the music videos, but in Love4eva as well, so hope you enjoy it if you rewatch it!
One of the things I like about this subunit is that all their videos depict events that are happening simultaneously! You see the big picture in the yyxy video of Yves deciding to leave, Chuu and Go Won following her, and Olivia Hye getting left behind. Yves solo video is about her deciding to leave and eating the apple (there is also part of her journey of trying to find other members once she leaves Eden, hence the shots of her doing stuff like picking up other members' representative animals with the claw machine). Then in Chuu's solo video we see her following in Yves footsteps (literally trying on the clothes Yves wears in New, practicing the New choreography, and copying Yves' golfing). In Go Won's we see her deciding to eat her fruit as well while Yves and Chuu lurk in the background of shots, and then they all run down hallways together like they do in the yyxy MV. Finally, Olivia Hye's solo shows her being left behind but deciding to love herself anyway, eating her fruit not because of Yves but because it's the right choice for her and she deserves better than Eden. So the solo videos give us the detailed personal journeys and the yyxy video gives us context and shows us the whole story!
Blockberry Creative is their company, but their videos are actually done by a group called Digipedi, which have done MVs for other groups as well. Their videos are always amazing.
LOONA is the most "complete" group in kpop by far . they can really do it all, AND they got a whole cinematic universe too. well worth gettin into

Well, a curious fact is that in So What Olivia is the one who burns the moon. As in Egoist, she burns the swan that is the representative animal of Yves, she also burns the tapes that she and Vivi had in their MVs (In case you didn't notice, the girl who is with Yves in New Is ViVi). Lastly, Olivia is said to be angry at Yves for leaving her in Eden, this is why she also burns YYXY's uniform.
Yet another fun fact about Gowon: The official digital audio for One & Only was mixed in 3-D.

blockberry creative the selves describe gowon’s voice as “crunchy,” and it sort of become an inside joke with orbits. my favorite member is yves and her solo song is so unique! i think all of the videos in this video are really great and this subunit has some of my favorite loona songs!
Definitely my favorite sub-unit out of the 3! If you ever catch any behind the scenes footage, they're all chaotic lunatics and I love them for it. Olivia is my favorite out of Loona yet the other 3 YYXY members are always knocking on the door.

Keep in mind that lotssss of things are connected in Loonaverse. You guys noticed that they keep hitting things with the golf club, but do you remember when heejin was sitting on a pile of golf balls, and they were coming at her at all sides? Everything is connected. :)
If Gowon's voice were raspy it would be described as raspy. I think there's a quality to her voice that's not easy to describe by pre-existing standards therefore "crunchy" was chosen and most people agree that it fits.
Yo guys idk if you've seen this yet but Day6 had a comeback and it's main title track is called Zombie. They have a English and Korean version and MV but activities for the comeback got postponed because the members were suffering from anxiety and depression but they are slowly coming back.

When I first listened to one and only it didn’t stick, but 6 months later and it’s in my top 3 Loona solos, I absolutely BLAST it in the car on repeat, I think that song goes absolutely insane
Same with me honestly, I think I preferred most of the solos on first listen more than One&Only, but over time it's grown on me a TON and now it's by far my favourite solo and one of my favourite songs in their entire discography. God it slaps so hard lmao.
One&Only is definitely one of those songs that is whatever on the first listen but then grows on you like crazy the more you hear it

Thank you for sharing this third part! Yves song is my fave and it's what got me into Loona, I really love it so much. The other two I also listen to a lot are Eclipse and Love Cherry Motion.
You mentioned SUNMI, shes having a comeback at the end of the month I hope you'll check it out! I finally saw her in concert last year when she became the first female kpop soloist to do a world tour and ugh she truly is something else. btw Egoist is *extremely* interesting and ties in with the yyxy's whole bibilical concept, many have theorized that Olivia is a fallen angel, more specifically she embodies Lucifer and we can see that in the beggining where she's lying down surrounded my feathers as if she's fallen down (fall of Lucifer from Heaven), this talks about how she felt betrayed and is ready to live on her own terms instead of someone else's who is "supposedly" superior aka God.
The MV for heart attack seems it was loosely based on the little match girl story. The little match girl sells matches but no one ever buys them, she seeks for someone’s attention but everyone ignores the poor girl, since she has no home she sleeps in the cold outside, to keep warm, she uses her matches, and day dreams of having a home. This relates to chuu being that she is in the snow outside dancing to get noticed by yves while doing that she daydreams of being with yves but she ultimately gives in the cold. Going back to the little match girl, she runs out of matches and ends up freezing to death, but afterwards she “wakes up” to a home and a meal (probably meaning she went to heaven). I’m not sure if this means chuu went to “heaven” but once she passed out from the cold yves shows up and finally recognizes her and they end up being together just like chuu wanted. But if this truly matches the little match girl’s story, that means the yves didn’t end up showing up and seeing chuu passed out. Chuu never got the attention she wanted from yves.

Hey guys! I always enjoy the input you guys have about all kinds of musical genres esp w/ the Loona Series. Not sure if you're gonna see this but, if I can suggest an artist to react to, I would like to recommend 'Bursters'. They're a K-band that I think would be right up your alley! I'm curious what you guys think about them since they are also musicians in the metal genre. My faves are 'Barriers', 'Lost Child', and 'Colors', but just recently came out with an album with 'Smell the Rot' as the title track(I think). I would recommend watching the lyric videos or at least look up the lyrics for 'Barriers' and 'Colors' because their songs tend to be "statement" kind of songs. But either way, thank you for making great content!

Do you guys know that they logo at the beginning changes color based on who’s solo it is. I think it only does that from Vivi onwards though. Because their colors were still getting situated at the time.

Though Yves did confirm the Chuu song had nothing to do with lgbt, but it's fine if people take it that way. The song is about longing and the girls are just acting out the parts themselves rather than bring actors in.

I find Love4eva actually quite unsettling (in a good way). It’s cute but with a slightly ominous undertone, especially paired with the visuals of the three girls abandoning Olivia with the evil teacher.
Heart Attack is perfect. Chuu’s cuteness and killer vocals are amazing. I love equally love Egoist, the breakdown is so great.

By the way their subunit name "YYXY" is pronounced "why why by why" and it stands for "Youth Youth by Young", each letter represents a member of the subunit in their respective debut order, so they are all "Y" except Gowon who is the "X" (-:

I think why people get sucked into Loona videos so easily is because of what you guys mentioned that even if a song is cute in appearance and even the lyrics it's to distract you from the darker side of it, in Love4eva they all leave Olivia Hye behind and ostracize her because of the whole Eden thing they have going on, and even on their teasers for the song they were super dark and talked about the theory a lot more, they really give an insight into why the music videos are how they are :p One & Only also has an underlying creepiness to it because even though it's seemingly a cute song that talks about how Gowon loves herself for who she is her shadow/part of herself she still hasn't accepted is constantly running away from her and when she's singing in some scenes you can see Yves and Chuu standing behind her motionless just watching or passing by her while she curls up in the shadows seemingly with a pained expression and they do nothing. If you guys are really invested I'd highly recommend looking up their theory, Twinfish has made really good videos about it and there are whole Tumblr blogs and Wiki pages dedicated solely to the Loonaverse that explain EVERYTHING from the color theory to the mobius strip, it'll keep you entertained for days and now is the perfect time to dive in lol
