    As a reviewer, there are things that i can’t control which comes under subjective matter.
    1. Your personal taste and preference
    2. Your ear (Shape, size, sensitivity, ear canal diameter and path)
    3. Your gear (Source of audio output)
    4. Each brand’s sound signature
    All these factors plays a major role when you are selecting the IEM you think the best. Everyone is different and a single person can’t say what actually is the best. The best for someone can be the worst or average for another person when considering all these subjective matters.
    When it comes to the the objective side, it is a whole different story. The technical stuff which requires better engineering. But still there can be people who doesn’t require great technicalities (When one person needs the actual best soundstage, another person doesn’t even care about how wide the sound sounds for him/her)
    So, when doing a review, personally i mainly target on the objective side, highlighting its technicalities more, then giving the conclusion based on my taste and personal preference. But, still I point out how good it can be for you and for another person.

    I really don't understand the hate for KZ products for their price range they are making some of the best IEMs and are definitely better than just about anything you can buy locally around the same price range.. they are what they are they're decent cheap IEMs very good for beginners in general.

    • @weirdear95
      @weirdear95  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's mainly because of their track record. They have the worst reputation in this chifi scene, mainly due to QA & QC issues. Also some false advertising. But, personally i haven’t found any issue with them and i love their products for the most part.

    Your preferred SQ is aligned with mine. I currently have the Castor Bass as daily driver. Bang for the buck. The sub bass is there when you need it. Doesn't bleed through the lower mids thus no muddling. Mids are present and not laid back. Highs are not tinny. Overall a detailed musical experience. @@caesarkuno5110 ok so I just got these. So here's some of my takeaways. First thing, is it's a beautiful iem. Really an eye pleaser. Looks and feels high quality.
      Now on to the sound. I set the switches to 1100. It's really damn good. First thing I was surprised by was the bass. I didn't expect much bass, but the bass is very nice, since you know this is supposed to be the silver non bass version, so it makes me wonder how much bass does the black castors have. It's a detailed iem. I've been testing out electronic, rock, metal, and some rap on it and I've come to the conclusion they're very damn good for music.
      Now, last thing I'll add is this. These require some power. So, the DAC inside my Macbook Pro makes these sound heavenly when it's wired and wireless through bluetooth testing on my KZ AZ09 pro and TRNs. But I noticed on my phone, it sorta lacks something, so just buy the $5 CX31992 or the ALC5653 dongle dac, and you'll be solid if you plan to use these on your phone.
      I'd say don't overthink it and just buy it, they're ridiculously cheap, you can't regret it. Also the foam tips that come with them are really nice.

    Basically I am new in this world.. I have done some research according to my budget, came up with
    Kz castor (both), moondrop chu 2, 7hz zero 2, tangzu wan'er.
    My playlist mostly contains electronic, dance, pop & indie...
    And I have used sony and Sennheiser before, and like Sennheiser signature sound with mild base and overall quality.

    • @weirdear95
      @weirdear95  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The thing with this is first of all we have to understand our preference. No matter how others says it is the best, it will depend on their taste and ear. Chu 2 is musical but shouty(elevated upper mid range 2k-4k region). That will create issues for the ones who are too sensitive.
      On the other hand, Castor bass is more fun and engaging. Personally i like the Castor bass over Chu 2 as it got more impactful low end. Overall Castor bass is balanced, you won’t miss anything.
      You can go to squiglink and compare the IEMs you want. Castor got so much low end and also got elevated 2k-4k region. As it got so much low end, that elevated upper mid range gets a good balance and doesn’t sounds shouty as the Chu 2.
      Always do some EQ to boost some low end and cut some highs over 3k if you are too sensitive. And also i recommend to purchase the Tangzu Sancai wide bore ear tips, they usually fix those shout issues and balances things out.

      As Castor Harman is tuned for harman target, it lacks some satisfaction in music, it is accurate and clean, but less feel-full. Castor bass got the energy and it makes things more enjoyable and fun, but can be too bassy for some.
      But, as you asked for the genres like Pop, R&B, Funk & Soul my recommendation is the Moondrop Chu 2. It is more of a musical set and things sounds more beautiful. As it is a neutral sounding set, the fun factor isn’t there, if you are an analytical listener, it is great. If you want the fun, go with the Castor bass or 7Hz Zero 2(which is $25). Castor bass is for bass heads and 7Hz Zero 2 is for the most balanced fun sound.

    • @weirdear95

      At the moment i did the comparison i didn’t have the D-fi. But now i have them and i can give you a quick comparison.
      Sound quality wise, both are really good, but Castor sounds more natural, D-fi got some artificial colour to it, not in a huge amount, but when comparing with each other it is noticeable.
      Both the castors got better low end and treble. D-fi got better mid range. Mid range is more forward in D-fi. Technicalities wise, Castors are better options. Build quality wise, D-fi is better as it is made from metal. It looks and feels premium for the price.
      Overall, i prefer the Castors over D-fi, but whether you buy any of them, for the money you get insane value.

      Mm, i think it can be too much mid bass. You can use the switches to adjust the amount and the quality of low end is really good on them too. But i have a feeling that, it will overpower to some extent. As I'm not a musician, i don’t have enough knowledge to give a right answer for you😕

    • @woocifer
      @woocifer 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't get them...I have a pair, plugged them into my external sound card, it was awful. They digitized, fizzled out, has minimal separation and you couldn't hear solos in songs because of how poor the drivers handled what was going on. And I wasn't driving the bass to the 2nd level, as these reviews tend to blow their load over. I boosted the mids and highs and still the upper register was lost. So if you have any cymbals going on in a song, you'll lose the rest of the song under them. And if you're jamming with music, they are AWFUL. I can't say how TERRIBLE they were for this.

      I can't say exactly as for a percentage, but if a $100 one compared with a current $20 one, the $100 one definitely won’t perform 5 times. Can be about 2.5-3 times better. Upgrade will be mainly on the technical performance.
      As for the sound signature, there are a lot budget ones that sounds better than expensive ones. Expensive ones are more refined in resolution, clarity, naturalness, details, smoothness and more.
      Choosing the one for your preference is the most important in my opinion. Nothing else matters if it matches your sound signature. Budget ones are a good start to understanding your preference. Actually the value they deliver is insane.

      Wan'er is coloured, so you won’t be able to take that sound signature by EQing. If you are an android user, Use the Wavelet EQ, it is really good. I haven’t used the Poweramp eq so I’m not familiar. You can use the built in EQ of your player.

      Yeah, my review of the Wyvern pro is on work. Wyvern pro is a good IEM, build quality and the cable are so good for the price. Sound quality wise, it performs good. Whole frequency response is forward and doesn’t sound anything recessed. Definitely a coloured sound signature for fun listening. Layering and separation is pretty average where it can struggle on busier areas. Things getting pretty unclear at higher volumes. Low end is good but not impactful.When compared to castors, castors are better than the Wyvern pro when mainly considering technicalities. Castor bass is actually unbeatable at this $20 price range, wyvern cost about $28.

    These are *Hzsound Heart Mirror Zero*
    I gotta tell you, it's more fun listening compared to EW200, your best set under $40 (and Heart Mirror Zero also has similar price as EW200). Heart Mirror Zero has more punchier mid bass but lacks of sub bass rumble. It makes female vocals more engaging tho. EW200 has more clarity but for overall technicalities, Heart Mirror Zero is slightly better IMO. Hzsound Heart Mirror Zero also fits smaller ears as well as EW200.

    Hi. What is meant by
    1.sound-stage,
    2.imaging,
    3.separation,
    4.layering,
    5.resolution,
    6.clarity,
    7.air,
    8.timbre and
    9.naturalness as you mentioned in 3:18
    and is meant by coloured, sibilance though. Insights on these will be appreciated.

    • @weirdear95
      @weirdear95  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Actually you are asking almost everything you need to know when entering into the audiophile world. There are more things, but these are like fundamentals. I'll explain in simple form.
      1. Soundstage is about how wide things sounds. Think about a sphere around your head, larger the soundstage larger the sphere. Different instruments and sound elements can be placed in that sphere.Then you’ll get that 3d immersion.
      2. Imaging is the exact place where the instrument is placed. Better imaging means better accuracy where each instrument is placed. This is important when things panning and so much important in gaming to locate the footsteps. Soundstage helps to identify how far the footsteps or gun shots are coming. Soundstage is the depth and the imaging is the exact location.
      3. Separation is about how separate each instrument sounds in a mix. There are many sound elements in a song or any production. Drums, guitars, synths, leads, piano, vocals and so on. If there isn’t better separation, things will sound congested. With better separation, everything sounds spacious. In movies if you can clearly hear vocals, then there is great separation. Kicks don’t bleed into the mid range, treble won’t overtake the other frequencies like so. Better the separation, very easy to understand each sound element.
      4. Layering is also a part of separation which helps in better spacious sound. In production, layering means stacking different sound elements(like synths, leads) to get a different sound. When there is better layering, we can understand "ah they used these kind of sounds to create this sound" like thing. Also layering plays a major role in reverbs and background sounds. If you can clearly hear background sounds and feel the immersion in reverbs, there is better layering.
      5. Resolution is how quality the product sounds. You'll get better details with better resolution. In displays, higher the resolution, higher the details you get(HD vs 4k). It depends on the source and also the quality of the drivers inside the product(IEM, speaker, headphone). Driver quality, material and the acoustics matters. Good quality source is based on the bit rate and sample rate basically. Higher the bit rate and sample rate, higher the quality in sound(more details).
      6. Clarity is all about how precise the audio production in the mix. How clearly you can hear things without any distortions(clean and clear audio signal). High-resolution audio equipment and well-mastered recordings tend to offer better clarity. Also a part of transparency. Means that the signal you get isn't coloured. Naturalness is also a part of this.
      7. Air depends on the treble extension(above 10k). When there is more treble extension, you’ll get more treble details as well as it helps everything to sound more open and spacious, more airy feeling.
      8. Timbre depends on the instrument. We can play the exact same note on different instruments to get a different sound. Timbre depends on the material. Solids(wood, metal), string, membranes, air produce a sound unique to the vibrating source. Flutes based on air. Guitars, violins, pianos depends on strings. Drums depends on membranes and crashes, hi-hats depends on solids. Timbre is the uniqueness in each instrument.
      9. Sibilance is about more pronounced s, ts, tch sounds. Happens in the 6k-8k region. If there is a peak at that range, there will be more pronounced sibilance.
      Hope this will help you.

      Details and soundstage wise, they are pretty close. Sound signature is the biggest difference.

      Sorry for the late reply😕.
      Yep, buy the harman version. You got a lot of choices with the switches and also narrow bore ear tips will give more low end.

    I have ordered castor bass version. I’m totally new to IEMs. Is it possible to get V shaped sound signature in Castor Bass by adjusting the switches ? Also I have apple lightening to 3.5mm adapter is it sufficient for the gain ?

    • @weirdear95
      @weirdear95  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      How is your experience now. Is it not what you like. Actually the Castor bass is U-V shaped IEM. Do you need more treble? If so, switch ON the 3 & 4 switches.

      @@weirdear95 haven’t got the iem yet. Want to know if the bass overpower treble and details ? Want to experience all the details in its glory. Here Castor normal ver is out of stock. I need to figure out what is my taste, am I basshead or not. Ordered this because of switches. Just want to know is it possible to get balanced and neutral sound through switches. Thanks man

      @@maaranvenkat Castor bass version got really good amount of treble extension and details to balance out the boosted bass. You won’t feel treble lacking. Yes the switches helps to improve bass or treble as for your liking. For the money you spend, you get so much. But don’t expect the very best in everything as this is a budget set.

    hello, i just want to know if it sounds clear and the separtion is good than the wan'er? i kind of like the clean sound of zero so do you think i'll like it too? (kz castor harman silver)

    • @weirdear95
      @weirdear95  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It won’t be that clean like the Zero as the Zero doesn’t have much low end. But, everything sounds so clean and clear on Castor Harman. Personally I like the Wan'er due to its coloured and fun sound signature. There is more treble energy on the Castor Harman that I personally have issues with, but everything sounds airy and spacious(due to the vent).
      Technicalities wise these doesn’t have so much differences, but your purchase decision will be based on the sound signature. Somehow the sound signatures of Castor Harman and the Zero are so similar. Buying the Castor won’t be an upgrade. Zero is slightly more cleaner than the Castor Harman. Castor have a bit more low end impact.
