    We moved to Missoula last year in August and went to Glacier National Park at that time, and it was amazing. We want to spend the day there tomorrow but we aren't sure which hikes will be open. I guess we will call up there before we go.

    Awesome video. We are planning our family road trip and were debating spring or summer. This is our bucket list must see trip so summer it is. We can handle crowds.

    We plan to go Sept 21-Sept 30 and read that a lot of excursions, tours and boats are shut down for the season so take that into consideration when planning hikes. We wanted to do Grinnell Glacier Trail. Not able to do the full 12 miles but with the boats now out the question, it has to be done if we want that trail.

    What are the best hikes you’ve found at glacier that may not be obvious/crowded? Looking for day hikes.

      How long are you willing to drive each way, and what's your hiking skill level? Inexperienced, moderate, extreme?

    • @NomadOverNormal
      @NomadOverNormal 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MountForgeMontana Moderate... Day hikes at most. I've never done a 17 mile hike (11-13 ish has been my max so far). But I saw highline and Dawson pass were 17 miles

    • @MountForgeMontana
      @MountForgeMontana  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NomadOverNormal We've done Gunsight Lake out and back, which is 13 (video on our channel). That one was amazing and not crowded at all, strongly recommend. Highline is awesome but also extremely popular. Generally anything on the West side is going to be more crowded, so if you can get deeper into the park you'll find some amazing things and less people.

    I am planning to visit September 6 - 10 2022 but I am worried about the timed entry system. What if I am not able to get a ticket. There are only 1000 entries for each day. Did you had any trouble buying the timed entry ticket.

    • @MountForgeMontana
      @MountForgeMontana  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You'll have to make sure you're online as soon as they go on sale for your date, we haven't had too much trouble. Worst case scenario - you can try to be an early riser and get into the park before they start checking tickets early in the AM!

Did the whole Road West to East, stopping wherever we wanted without any dramas. So many sights !! Took our time then exited and spent the night in Shelby. Had a great 2 week Road trip through Montana, Wyoming, Idaho ,Oregon and back to Seattle where our Son lives. Loved all of it , special mention to ALL the American People we met ( so friendly ).

      @@davesjuricevich Sounds like an awesome and epic time. We'll be doing a 2 week trip to Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier this mid-Sept. I'm glad to hear the crowds were not too bad on your trip. Hopefully we'll experience the same situation. I keep hearing how bad the parking is these days so I hope that won't be an issue. Looking forward to it.

    Hi there, I’m currently planning on taking a trip to Glacier with a friend around April 2023, is it still really snowy there around that time? I went to Rocky Mountain NP around April 2022, and only there did I discover it was the snowiest month of the year for them.

    • @matthenry7651
      @matthenry7651 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're looking to go into Glacier - a vast majority of the park will still be snow covered and inaccessible in April. I've had success seeing the Polebridge area and North Fork region of the park in that month - but a lot of the winter snow is still around at higher elevations and plenty of snow still falls!

    Sept 3-13. 2022. We have a National park pass. Can we stay outside the park and still do High Line trail etc. We will fly into Whitefish/ Kalispel. Any suggestions?

    • @MountForgeMontana
      @MountForgeMontana  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great time to be in the park as it's right after the peak tourism season. That time of year there is no guarantee you'll be able to access the High Line trail though, since it's such a high elevation it can be snow covered if the weather hits. We have an Airbnb in Polson you can check out! There are several great options as well in Columbia Falls, Whitefish, and the surrounding areas. Check out our website for tons of local recommendations!

      It depends. If going to Logan Pass or hiking the Highline trail is a must see, then probably not because there's no guarantee that you'll get there. But if you want it to be more affordable and less crowded, there's some amazing things you can do in May!

  • @ihypour
    @ihypour 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m planning a trip with my dad however because of school and Covid and just all of that, it’s like stupidly restricted. We might have to rely on going in the Summer when I’m free from classes, just needing to deal with the virus. Are there any good spots to stay in if we don’t plan on camping? We might want to also visit Yellowstone (he doesn’t mind driving that much) so is there a good town in between the two parks that would be reasonable to stay in?

    • @MountForgeMontana
      @MountForgeMontana  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would strongly recommend breaking your trip up into two separate legs if you'd like to visit Yellowstone and Glacier. It's over 5 hours between the two parks, so you'd be driving half that if you stayed in the middle every day, plus the massive amounts of driving around each park you can expect to do. You're best bet is to stay close to Glacier (Whitefish, Columbia Falls, West Glacier, Hungry Horse, etc.) and then head down closer to Yellowstone (I do not know that area well). This sounds like an amazing trip!

    Thanks for this breakdown. I'm Going at the end of May and very disappointed to hear Highline trail and others like it will be closed. My girlfriend and I are staying for a week at a hotel in whitefish. We are both moderate hikers - any tips for trails that should be available for us?
    I'm frustrated because alot of the hikes we've picked out are probably going to be closed.

    • @MountForgeMontana
      @MountForgeMontana  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best advice is to keep an eye on the park updates and road conditions to see what will be available, it's really dependent on the weather as your trip approaches! There should be a lot of trails open on the western side of the park, like Apgar Lookout, and up towards the Polebridge area too you can try.
