I'm not a car person at all and this helped me avoid paying someone else to do what felt like it should be a simple job. For a Citroen Berlingo 2009 I used these parts from amazon and they were all I needed for the full install I think (Aside from a screwdriver to push the grabby bits on the radio frame to hook in): 1. Car Aerial Adaptor For Car Radio ISO to DIN 2. Alpine Electronics Bluetooth Car Radio (The first photo shows it with blue lighting) 3. Car Radio Removal Tool Key by Keple | DIN Release Keys for FORD: B-Max, C-Max, Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Galaxy, KA, Kuga, Maverick, Mondeo, S-Max Head Unit CD Player Pins | Pin Stereo Tools (4pcs) The only issue is that steering wheel controls won't work with just those 3 items, but I've never used them anyway so all good for me. And the install was as easy as you made it look, cheers 😀
Thanks. Although it is straight forward, you told me several things that will make my radio / tape removal easier and I now know more about making a decision to replace it.
Little jobs like this that add to your quality of life with the car are so satisfying. The patch cables make life so much easier and as stated below you can probably get the patch cable that allow them after market stereo to work with your existing controls on the steering wheel too. Keep up the content fella!
I would love to own a Berlingo. It would be a really good camping car with a bunch of head space and storage space. The stealing of the radio seems to be a world wide problem before. I live in sweden and we also had that problem when I was younger. So my dad would always take the front of it inside when he left the car.
I got the exact same unit for my Peugeot Partner. Tho my car is a very basic van. I also order a set of speekrs, jbl stage 1s 16cm. Old once are done. I love how it sounds 10x better then the old mercedes sound 10 i had before (w cassete player lmao)
Hi Danny. Great vid. Inspired me to swap my radio. Struggled a lot getting the plugs out of the old unit, I had to take the back off to release the catches. Your old wiring looks exactly like mine, phew. Two questions though. 1. You did the inverting yellow and red wires described in the manual. I assume this is essential. 2. Like mine your's has more wires connected to the power side than are available in the wiring adaptor, the handbook refers to these as 'numeric control' (?), did you loose any functionality when you installed the radio? I've also gone for a Sony radio, best price with the functionality I'm after. BTW I also have a fondness for Belingo's but don't treat them as well as you do! All the best, Matt
Hi I've just watched this video and learnt a lot but my question is will it mess with the digital screen because I have a Citroen C3 picasso vtr plus 09 plate and I don't want it to mess with it or make it not work. Thank you
Hi there, cheers for the easy to follow run through. Would you mind sharing the link for the wiring harness and aerial adapter that you used? I'd be using a Kenwood radio instead, it's just to double check the Citroen end of the wiring. Cheers!
The wiring harness came with the stereo pal as I'm not sure the multiple that goes into the back of the stereo is the same for kenwood and Sony. As for the adaptor it's a female to male adaptor pal you need 😉
What happens to the display on top of dashboard when new one was fitted as this displays radio station etc. Also what's the Bluetooth for phone quality like, is it loud enough? Can the steering wheel controls still be used as before?
The display at the top just displays the time and date as the new stereo has its own screen. Bluetooth phone quality I have never had an issue with. I believe the steering column controls can be wired in but won't work when using Bluetooth to play music which is what I use so not to bothered. Cheers ✌️
Has anyone found a link to the converter clips? I need the same ones for my Peugeot partner 2006, i need that converter doing this as a gift for my dad
Hi mate, enjoying your berlingo videos got a 2005 multispace modutop myself. With the stereo change does your little display with the time and date still function as it should? I'm not really bothered about the steering controls but I'd like to keep the display
I've just fitted my upgrade, a Sony MEX N7300BD, very similar to yours. The only problem I seem to have is that it retunes every time I use the car and doesn't save stations. Im thinking that the constant live feed and the switched feed are wrong. It maybe needs a constant live to retain the info whereas the old radio- cassette didn't. Im guessing here!
I'm just going through this myself, I'm guessing he had the same issue and has not mentioned or posted it. Currently sat here trying to find the constant live feed , I'll keep.you posted of you did not sort this out
Thanks for this, appreciate the help, I've just installed my new Sony DSX-A410BT stereo! Woo hoo! Question.. where did you buy the radio ariel converter? Many thanks.
@@projectfearn it is important to fit a converter kit OR create a new lead. The standard connector has data connection from and to the BSI and if you'd plug an aftermarket radio right on there it will eventually destroy the BSI resulting in weird failures and at some point the car won't start anymore.. It's a reason my previous Berlingo went to the scrapyard. If you can't find a converter kit, make sure the BSI pins are NOT connected to the aftermarket radio. In my current Berlingo i've made a new lead for the aftermarket radio. The original radio is under the floor of the loading space (i've got the van version), connected up to the original plug. After the bad luck with my previous car i wanted to make sure it won't happen again. Original radio does not have an audio lead, just power and BSI. Switched off, so the display will still show time and date. All that because i couldn't find a converter kit, lol.
I would recommend the 2.0 HDi. I've two Berlingo friends - one has the 1.6 engine and he loves it, but the other used to have the 1.6 and had no end of trouble, so changed it for the 2.0. My wife had the 1.6 HDi in her C3 and had no trouble with it, although I blanked the EGR, which many people recommend. I also had the wheezing 1.9D years ago. The 2.0 is a great engine - I've been running mine on 100% biodiesel for four years without a hick-up.
@@projectfearn Mine is a 54 plate on 167K. A couple of months ago there was a lady on Gumtree selling her 2.0 HDi 07 plate, only 67K, for £700 because the internal electrics were faulty. She thought it was the 1.9D because the HDi is 1997 cc! I told her she would get much more if she advertised it as the 2.0, which it was. She was dersperate to sell it but I'm in Scotland and she's in Kent, but I now wish I had bought it (I'd have given her a good bit more than the £700). I felt sorry for her - an easy fix too. So many people are looking for the older Multispaces to convert into wee camper vans. I still wonder how she got on.
Hi Alan. I bought the Red (1.6HDi) one with 60,000 miles on 4 years ago. Its now touching 140,000 miles and still drives like new. I bought the Blue one (1.6 16V) in May last year. Granted this one needs a few few jobs doing but it is mechanically sound and has 150,000 miles on it, one owner from new and full service history. Just be prepared to get the timing belt and water pump done and potentially a clutch 😎

What’s the link for the cable would i need the same cable for every aftermarket stereo
