If you go frame by frame you can breakdown what happened. He was going 67 mph in the rain and accelerated to over 70 mph while checking his phone. The acceleration caused one or more of the tires to spin out, probably "racing" tires which are horrendous in wet conditions. This caused the car to start hydroplaning and was drifting to the left. He slammed the brakes and overcompensated, turning the steering all the way to the right, and once the wheels finally caught the road the car hard veered to the right across a full lane into the barrier. It probably would've spun out into a donut onto oncoming traffic if the barrier hadn't stopped him. That barrier saved him, his friend's, and probably several innocent drivers' lives from a head on collision and the inevitable pile up at highway speeds since it would be hard for others cars to stop in time to avoid an accident due to the wet road conditions.The speedometer showed 42 mph before the collision but if he was hydroplaning then probably was going faster. He absolutely at minimum needs to have his driver's license permanently revoked. A menace like him can either walk, ride a bicycle, or take public transportation or rideshares.

Damn, that reminds me of my oldest brother. He's over 50. He went too fast in his boat and "crashed" it. His daughter had to go to the hospital and a lot of my family/his siblings in there were hurt, and the way he acted about it showed he had no remorse. He also made a joke out of it. Something like this happened to some guy in my city recently. On the highway there was a traffic jam but the guy didn't notice because he was texting on his phone and slammed into a car at 70 MPH, he's fine but he ended up killing someone in the car he hit so now he's probably going away for 10 years for his negligence.
This is why I hate driving. It's the most dangerous thing people do while still having the level of awareness of a cat sitting on a windowsill
The most shocking part to me is that Jack's friend continued to hold the camera despite Jack not allowing them to get examined despite being injured. That is the most clear indicator that he doesn't care for anything other than himself and his content.

You have to admire the engineering of that car and safety barriers along the road. The crash zone worked as the engineers intended, he crashed at very high speed, entire front of the car is literally gone but his legs are completely fine. That's marvelous piece of safety engineering.

Driving too fast in the fucking rain... The rain isn't a problem if you drive at a speed appropriate for driving in the rainy weather... And you're paying attention to the road and the cars in front of you rather than your phone... You can't just say 'I was hydroplaning' as your excuse... You needed to fuck up to be hydroplaning so badly that it caused the crash... Unless maybe someone unexpectedly drives in front of you and due to hydroplaning you can't stop in time or something... It's also not like he panicked thinking he was gunna crash into some erratic driver and avoiding them caused him to spin out, he was the only erratic driver there...

To be fair, have seen enough videos of exactly this. There is always small part where things just went wrong, but mostly it's legit - too much money to little brain. If you don't understand what it means to have more then 400 horsepower in rwd or even awd, and have a brain of a jackass, you will crush car sooner or later. No electronic driving assists will help there.

Fun fact: due to how conditions needed for tank explosions work, if his tank was actually pretty much empty that *would* have caused the biggest possible explosion should a spark had actually ignited it. So yeah he got hella lucky with that as well.
(for an explosion to happen you need a lot of petrol fumes and only a little actual liquid petrol since gas is much easier and much faster to ignite. You basically can't even cause an explosion with a full tank if you tried)
His awnser should have been, "I'm an idiot and tried to accelerate from 71mph in the pouring rain, in a sports car. Then, when i started hydroplaning, i hit the brakes and fully turned the wheel to the left." Evan, if he regained traction, he would have crashed. If u hydroplane and lose the front tires, keep your wheels straight.
