I love how the entire mod has a community easter eggs and references, like the Yunru/Yunri-like characters referencing a certain modder that makes Pirates and the Luddites way stronger and based
Even after giving Runi the ship of her dream, I also give her IS - 20000 3 UAF Semibre so she could enjoy herself to the fullest. A dozen friendly ships and 3 allied stations were dead in blue-on-blue accidents, but that's all worth it. Truly one of the mods of all time.
This mod can only be described as that astronaut meme where they're looking at earth. Astronaut 1: "It's just fuel?" Astronaut 2 *loads fuel gun*: "Always has been."
I sincerely appreciate this video. I'd written off this mod as a meme as well. My first reaction upon seeing was to think it was a simple re-flavoring of SD into "The Gas Man". Really, the credits list of a bunch of legendary SS modders should've tipped me off, but I didn't look too closely. What I've been looking for most in mods lately has been character interaction and *deep lore*. And after watching this review? I can say with some measure of certainty, that we are truly one step closer to VN sector.
Another mod review to sell me on, keep giving me more anime women to add to my game. In all seriousness, I always look forward to these reviews, they're a blast to watch and revives my desire to play starsector again.
I have never heard of Starsector, much less anything with this channel. And yet this is probably one of the best video's in editing and writing that I've seen that has made me want to buy a game on sight. I love it all, thank you for the hour of entertainment.
I highly recommend the game, I... I don't think I can describe how amazing the modding scene is, or how exciting it can be to explore the farthest depths of the void, or... I have two things to say though. 1-Get the Nexerlin mod, [among other things] it lets factions go to war and conquer planets, build alliances and generally makes the sector so much more dynamic because you can influence all of this! 2-There exists a certain African warlo- **cough** TH-camr by the name of Ssethtzeentach. If you want a [dev approved*] 'free trial' of the game, have a look at his review of the game. Just make sure to buy the game if you like it, the devs deserve it for what they've built. * If I remember correctly. (Edit): Formatting attempt. (Edit2): oh hey, it worked.

I gotta say, you're easily becoming one of my favorite TH-camrs. Seeing your videos show up in my sub box gets me excited for more Starsector content. If the mods aren't on the mod index page, then I wouldn't even knew some mods existed or for this mod, I overlooked it because it didn't seem interesting and I'm glad this video proved me wrong. It's obvious you love making these videos. Your style of comedy is fun and refreshing and even though these videos can be over half an hour long, at no point does it feel tiring or get boring. I have no clue about Starsector or this meme-turned-reality, I just stumbled upon this in my recommended list and the title made me somewhat curious. So, I had never heard of this game before but this mod review convinced me to get it (I love mods and the fact that mods like this exist shows me that there is a dedicated modding scene to this which is all I really need).

This must be one of the craziest mods I've ever seen. You've sold me on another great mod, which means its time to start up another campaign! Honestly wish the other mods had as much great writing as there is here.

For anyone who's going after Yunifer, I offer a single, game saving hint (So important that I had to abandon a 10 hour save because I jumped the gun so hard that I only have myself to blame): Don't be pushy. If your only option left for recruiting her is through Kween, you already lost her.
@@absolutelydisgusting582 Alright here, the explicit spoiler. You keep Yunifer as a contact, up your relationship to at least 25 or 50. You ask to hire her on the first time, but reconsider. Wait until a few days pass, you should be able to ask again, and the dialogue will be different, with her acting a bit more confident. If not, up the relationship from 25 up to 50 or from 50 up to 75. I upped it to 75 right off the bat so I wouldn't know. Once she sounds more confident, go for it, and when she asks why... Not sure about this, but honestly this is probably the final "do not be a jackass" check. Let it be her decision. Then bam, lvl 10 officer with busted stats but a horrible Timid disposition that you *can* mitigate to Cautious at the cost of losing elite skill status on every single skill she has. Honestly just let her do her thing, even if she's in the back all the time those guns do good work (or you can micromanage her into being more aggressive with direct attack commands).
Ironically, the funniest thing about this review, which speaks volumes about this mod, is that as extensive as it is, you *still* missed a character. Namely Karlos Pononzi, Chief Executive Officer of the Nachiketa Fuel Traders Incorporated, and Philip Andrada's hated nemesis (well, from Pononzi's point at least). You find him on Nachiketa, and though I haven't digged too much in the character interactions, one thing is certain: do NOT mention Andrada in his presence. Seriously.
This has to be my... Twelfth? Something like that, time watching this. You have a voice that's just... Listen-able, even when I'm not actually paying attention.

We kinda need fuel convoys that can supply you in remote areas in the game. I mean, it just makes sense. You're in the depth of space, you are running out of fuel... just call your colony and ask them to send you 3000 units of fuel. Wait a bit und wham, you got delicious fuel again.

Nice little mod review. Granted I probably won't be playing it any time soon. Even still great mod review and looking forward to yet more factions being looked over in time! Also wondering if you are going to go over just faction mod's or other mod's that add content like the Secret's of the Frontier as you mentioned in the video? If you are going to go over some of those content expansion mod's. Might I recommend doing an overview of Arma Armatura? It adds some rather interesting things while adding a bunch of content where applicable. I get how faction mod's tend to offer more to make a review video on, but content adding mod's like ArmaA and other similar mod's could be worth doing smaller review videos if you feel like it. In any case you keep making great review videos all the same!
I'd love to, in time of course. I was actually using Arma Armatura in this video. I have a pretty gigantic list of videos I'd like to make at this point, so I can't make any promises (Iron Shell being high on the list but for CERTAIN REASONS can't be done just yet). These huge in-depth videos take months to make, and I'd honestly love to do shorter videos so I can have more consistent releases. At some point I'll get to non-faction mods, I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the comment!

A big problem I see for character interactions in starsector is that the background during conversations is always the same, limiting all visual input to the portrait or a small side image. In similar fashion the text field being always the same and not supporting more rich text options/images. Lastly there is no proper index for looking up all the npcs you had contact with, their conversation logs, and so forth. So it gets quick and confusing pretty fast. Also that 5 contact limit should be disabled by most mods by default, since its just not viable.
The 5 contact limit makes perfect sense for vanilla Star Sector, but I'd agree that a mod (or the base game if the devs decide to go that route in the future updates) focusing more on character interactions would definitely benefit from expanding or removing that limit.

We kinda need fuel convoys that can supply you in remote areas in the game. I mean, it just makes sense. You're in the depth of space, you are running out of fuel... just call your colony and ask them to send you 3000 units of fuel. Wait a bit und wham, you got delicious fuel again.

Nice little mod review. Granted I probably won't be playing it any time soon. Even still great mod review and looking forward to yet more factions being looked over in time! Also wondering if you are going to go over just faction mod's or other mod's that add content like the Secret's of the Frontier as you mentioned in the video? If you are going to go over some of those content expansion mod's. Might I recommend doing an overview of Arma Armatura? It adds some rather interesting things while adding a bunch of content where applicable. I get how faction mod's tend to offer more to make a review video on, but content adding mod's like ArmaA and other similar mod's could be worth doing smaller review videos if you feel like it. In any case you keep making great review videos all the same!
I'd love to, in time of course. I was actually using Arma Armatura in this video. I have a pretty gigantic list of videos I'd like to make at this point, so I can't make any promises (Iron Shell being high on the list but for CERTAIN REASONS can't be done just yet). These huge in-depth videos take months to make, and I'd honestly love to do shorter videos so I can have more consistent releases. At some point I'll get to non-faction mods, I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the comment!

And I can imagine how much time must be spent editing all those videos and appreciate you putting so much time into it! In any case I'm sure you have plenty of things to do and look forward to when you work on doing mod reviews for yet more mods!
A big problem I see for character interactions in starsector is that the background during conversations is always the same, limiting all visual input to the portrait or a small side image.
In similar fashion the text field being always the same and not supporting more rich text options/images.
Lastly there is no proper index for looking up all the npcs you had contact with, their conversation logs, and so forth. So it gets quick and confusing pretty fast. Also that 5 contact limit should be disabled by most mods by default, since its just not viable.
None of those limitations are hard ones. People have displayed larger images and done more dynamic things, but not en masse due to effort.
The 5 contact limit makes perfect sense for vanilla Star Sector, but I'd agree that a mod (or the base game if the devs decide to go that route in the future updates) focusing more on character interactions would definitely benefit from expanding or removing that limit.
