I don't always play High-Tech factions, but when I do, I play ScalarTech Solutions. In this video, we take a closer look at one of my favorite "smaller" faction mods. Consider supporting ScalarTech development and the IroncladLion channel.

Other fun facts:
The EMP relay on the Filament actually puts out a fixed number of arcs per second distributed across fighters, so fighter count doesn't matter. Very clever coding, not so clever Ironclad. Nia has also informed me my pronunciation is terrifying.

I haven't update Scalartech Solution for nearly a year now and I finally realized what I've been missing out on. I also learned a lot about the faction and noticed everything wrong with my playstyle as the faction. Man, this is the time where I wish I'm not a modder and just a simple player.. I need to do another Spindle run.. GAHHH!!
I went though my old family photos and found an aurorean supercapital. Help.
This and UEF aesthetically are like sister mods, I can't play without either.
Says the person who makes the entire faction by accident 😂 i still have them to this years and still playing that iconic Cruiser.. It best ship but end up became the enemy because of Pirates attack.. Lol

Then you see the Sateen kimono edition. We've just doubled down on meme ships.
So yes, pairing up with the UAF is a no-brainer.
The ‘accidentallying a faction’ is surprisingly common, most major mods I’ve seen started as only minor changes.

There is less content on Scalartech compared to UAF but you're handling these mod reviews consistently. I enjoy the discussions on the background of the mod, the ingame lore, and the tiny details such as the weapons and frigates.
I cannot wait for you to finish the holy trinity of anime faction mods.

@@toastbrains1471 uh they all have different authors but they share the same portrait artist (for most portraits at least). Iron Shell is made by Tim the IRS agent and Scalartech is made by Nia.

I'm really enjoying this mod review format IroncladLion, have you considered doing one for Diable Inc? Literally the cornerstone of a great many Starsector modded playthroughs and even seen in SsethTzeentach's Starsector review.
It's quite literally the bread and butter of Starsector mods alongside Nexerelian and Industrial Evolution.
It's a fantastic mod, an absolute StarSector classic. I'd love to cover it. However, my production schedule is getting rather... Stuffed, at this point, much like Nia Auroria, so I don't want to make any promises at this time. Happy you have been enjoying the format!

Can you recommend any good channel playthroughs/walkthroughs for this game ?, I a bit of new in this game and only know through Sseth review here ? (since I busy with job so doesn't have time to find which channel are decent and don't have those common 'idiot/blind youtuber' sickness that are common nowaday here, it doesn't have to be 'Completionist/perfect' type as long as he play decent enough and do learn from mistake, and bonus if he do edit out the repeating scene that doesn't show anything new/interesting, for example 'Pete Complete' editing style here, too bad he didn't play this game yet)

Duuuuuude. That carrier wormhole idea with the fighters being teleported to the fight sounds SO cool. That's pretty unique and crazy. I love it!
I'm not so wholesome. I heard "increased fighter replacement rate" and clicked Download. More meat for the grinder! You can't shoot me, I'm behind a thousand strike craft wrecks!

What the hell man, this production level is movie-quality for a TH-camr with 5.03k subs. Absolutely baffling. Really liking this mod review format, when you reviewed UAF, i instantly did a playthrough of it to the endgame. Now it's time for Scalartech Solutions, yeahh!

It's often very difficult to understand what a faction mod has to offer, and this format is just perfect. I wish there were more people doing it, there's so little starsector content out there...

Id love to see more faction mod reviews of what you can do. It's really entertaining and how it expands the lore makes it really amazing and interesting! I'm genuine curious if/how you review the VIC faction as one of my favorite ones to play.

I had this mod for some time but I never interacted with them outside of one battle (oh god, they fill up my screen with missiles, bubbles, lasers, and energy and-!) but it is as IcL says: brr missiles brr
Scalar, UAF, Ironshell, and VIC are mandatory installs for any of my modded playthroughs. I love them all
I got star sector recently and downloaded UAF after your video and man is it fun, so that one is going in for my next run

Hopefully some mods that don’t have anime cringe profile pics. I don’t want faction mods to take me out of the Starsector “world” lmao. Just make the profiles look like they fit the existing art for the game…not being cringe isn’t hard.

WRONG! the 'classic' Neutrino mod was updated by fans (with permission by the creator) to work with the current version of Starsector. it keeps the sleek, classic look of Neutrino and brings the whole faction back in all its glory.
True, there is Nostalgia edition for the hardcore Neutrino lovers, I should have mentioned that as well. However, the mod still hasn't been updated by the original creator. Although I haven't used the mod in many years, I did play Neutrino quite a bit back in about 2017.

Please keep going with these mod reviews they are excellent! Any of Tartiflette's mods would be fantastic because they are all really good mods.

Excellent review of an excellent faction.
Love the video and history, also in depth analysis like this helps shine the light on lesser known parts of modding and the game. Like MesoTronik (who I'm going to go listen to now). I love ScalarTech, but being a bit of a pirate and "down on their luck" role player in starsector, I love Junkyard Dogs. Thoughts on maybe doing a vid for it?

I'm new (kinda, play this game for a year now) to this game and don't know any good mods, thanks to you I got 2 new factions (UAF and ScalarTech), the game 's much more fun now.
I hope you do more mod review like this. Love your videos (Starsector videos, idk much about other game from your videos)
I suggest MVS (Machina Void Shipyard), high quality mod with fun ships, while at it I also suggest Epta Consortium for High Tech themed faction
Could round out the "incredibly anime mods" set with the Iron Shell and Philip Andrada Gas Station Manager
Alternatively, Star Federation has some neat stuff, like two-layer shields where one of them gets smaller as it takes damage, and very common integrated drone wings.
Shadowyards has some weird hullforms that are certainly worth taking a look at.

hell yeah, man. I've been using this mod for months and it's fantastic. first time I fought a gown fleet in a bounty I got murdered, but got to keep it when I won and it was a great time. both scalartech and tahlan shipworks are must-haves imo.

Nia Tahl(the creator) is legitimately one of the most gifted mod makers for starsector, I usually stay away from mods that are "unfinished", but STDF has been a mainstay for me since pretty much the first take, super fun ships systems, beautifully made guns and missiles and lovely aesthetic their blue/white/red is just mmmmmm... how do you do one of them chef's kisses in text, just so good.
Also the battlestar might be just dopamine in a form of a ship.
Amazing video on this small (but deadly) faction but you do get to interact with Yurika if you have a commission with Spindle.
Wait I was wrong turns out I was just lucky and had my random contact you get at the start be Yurika.
Random pro tip for the Gown : there's 1 in the ScalarTech IBB mission. It could be hard to kill and randomly salvageable, but it beats waiting on the shops for months

22:30 was rewatching for the heck of it and just realized what the music was in the background. Face the fear, build the future. Funnily enough it fits in with the Schalartech theme, a corporate conglomerate in control of a large swathe of human population. The hegemony can be "you know who"
Gown-class will always be my favorite ship, and it's actually quite balanced all things considered.
liking the deep dives and if people like factions with lore I gotta recommend Volkov Industrial Conglomerate. It's another corporate-themed but significantly less ethical if you read into the lore and structures.

Really like this mod, small but incredibly well done, i would say their ships are a little too strong, but nothing really broken

Im not gone past intro and I already said I can listen to this guys voice all day :D Yeah they do breathe EMP like no tomorrow I just hate to fight them (almost every game I end up in war with them) One time I did remove all their guns dmg and try to see how long they can hold Zigurat Pined down. I have love hate relationship with this mod. Art is shining.

UAF is too overpowered, even for me. Like old school knights templar OP.

They fought me tooth and nail, took me a while to take em out about on par with the heg with their stability.
Saw this mod, guess I'll install it now.
Seems about as cool as Sylphon RnD which I love.
ED Shipyard is also great fun when I played it a long time ago but wasn't balanced at all.
It's essentially the spiritual successor to Sylphon, being overall much more thought out than the wild mishmash of random ideas that was Sylphon.
