I don't believe that the complete story is being told by this tour guide. My 4th Great Grandfather was a confederate soldier held in the prison 1863-1864. I've read letters he had wrote home describing the horrible living conditions. Would talk about how they were starving and would catch rats to eat they also caught cats and ate them. They did not get two meals a day. Just a whole lot of glossing over in this interview. I do have plans to visit this site just to see where my Grandfather lived. I'm just happy he survived.
