I like to use wheel studs and a lug nut to hold on traction boards, hilift jacks, and other accessories. Then a simple lug wrench takes them off and if you live in a high theft area you can put wheel locks on them to keep your stuff in place.
Looking great! Colt is in his element on this and the S-10 build. I've been doing stuff like this for 40 plus years and even an old dog like me learns something new from time to time. I love old school.
Did not fully understand Skyjacker’s capabilities and willingness to make custom parts! Also great to know they are family owned. I’ve used a few of their lift kits over the years, always top quality stuff that fit!!! Thanks for the information and sharing the information about this company !
Colt is an artist. The other rigs are looking cool but definitely like something a high school kid would build in his garage. Colts looks much more like a purposely engineered vehicle. It’s no wonder he won the On X build challenge last year with that S10. I’m not ragging on anyone else participating, I’m a big fan of Matt and his crew, but Colts are just next level.
4:58 As an owner of a 1992 Land Rover Defender 90 I have had to 'resort' to a lot of 'not the best solutions' to keep Giles running. I am awed at your roof top solution. Pin those e*ay blow-molded pretzle plastic traction boards down with some e*ay 'stainless steel' (Chinesium) hood pins with flip-over clips and they are removable in case you need them to get unstuck or to trade to some other Sporto-Lander when you needs a lot (5 quarts) of oil for your 200Tdi engine. I actually took Giles on the White Rim Trail --200Tdi with 4-speed manual. Won't again.😉
Velcro straps for those tracks. They sell um in all sizes for all kinds of things cords.. blankets.. w.e really, I keep a bunch in my saddle bags. Use them to bundle things like fishing poles in my truck or tools and materials, welding leads. have my tool roll on my bike with them. Bin that way for years and thousands of miles. Probably 5 to 10lb of tools in it.
We use to put cheep football inside the coil springs as a happy medium when running without shocks. Some used them as air bags but unless you add a plastic around them... they don't last long.
Glad that you're recognising the difference between "Rover" and "Land Rover". Rover produced saloon/sedan cars in England from the 1930s. After WW2 Land Rover began production with amazing success. The company has undergone several owners - now Tata, an Indian truck and steel industrial organisation. Land Rover Discoveries still hold many records for their towing abilities. Land Rovers and Range Rovers continue to lead the utility and luxury off-road markets,
🔥🔥🔥So much of the games is filmed with Drones or from a higher point of view. I think something with Colt builds it logo on the roof would be a great idea for the channel. 🔥🔥
Or a Derby car like billboard !! Plus you can't forget the giant whip and flag !! Not to mention some really inexpensive rope LED lights underneath the vehicle. Also add a simple upright hoop to the rear bumper. To prevent the same thing from happening to it as happened to Robbie's rig last year....maybe a oversized giant bright red taillight on it !!
How about nylock wingnuts for the traction boards? They would be just as quick to remove, but would save on zip ties if you actually find yourself using them. It's shaping into an absolute unit.
Put the traction boards in the back and put some harbor freight awning cover double over cuts out almost all the sun. I did it for my scout 2 I loved it and guy I sold it to also loved it and asked if I could help him do for his jeep. If I was in better health right I would drive the 2 hours up to you and show you how I did it.
As a Land Rover owner of a same color d1 on 35s and lockers. I didn’t like where you were going with this at first but man it’s turning out so good! I hope you keep and build it more after the games, they are actually super great when built out right.
Just a thought your expanded Metal gave me. In the void of the rear door opening, and the B pillar down bar.. you could fill it in to keep gear inside the tear party..
This channel is quickly becoming my favorite. Colt and Shanna are super comfortable on camera and (despite having mad skills) Colt explains things so that if one has even a basic fab knowledge one can build much the same stuff, just not as pretty! 😊
Is there going to be a "holy crap" bar for the passenger to hold on to? The cage might be a bad idea. Another great video. Learning a ton from your channel Colt.
Could have used this code a few months back, all four corners and a stearing damper, well worth it though, price was easy to budget in. I need a Low Range offroad discount or even better a Colt builds it* right for You* discount code 😂 awesome progress can't wait to see these rip
Ratchet Straps, plus watch Market Place and classifieds for truck bed toolboxes steel or aluminum, lots of flat plate to be had. Wish I was closer to you, several 24"x30" store shelves in the scrap pile. Keep up the good work.
Velcro cable rap for the traction boards. You can re use it for ever and it is tested and rated to hold a 12 pack of Corona beers on the back of a Harley at 80 mph without failure.
About the lamps and the heatsinks at the back. If they're metal, everything's good. If plastic, you could just as well shave them off. And with the heatsinks, the rivets give surface area, more surface area you'll have with the passive cooling, better, cause that's how the heatsinks work. It has nothing to do with the mass.
I think this channel is excellent. I gotta say something. The tabs you mounted the lights up front/top. Those look like forehead killers if you tipped off a drop and nosed it. Maybe the perspective is off from my view, and I'm guessing helmets will be used. I just don't want you guys getting hurt. I just want to add, this ain't a shade on your fabrication skills. You're far beyond mine.
I'd order two more traction boards. You know on a lot of desert vehicles, they put a second layer of metal on the roof to isolate the sun from the roof.
Buy 2 more tracks. I believe that They should add less weight, then a pess of metal. And plus, they are easier to take off if you want more open air/ take in some sun rays.
Do the rules allow you to run a front locker like a simple lunchbox? I put gm govlocs in my old halftons alot & makes a huge difference! GM sells the little pulling & press tools to rebuild them using used parts from other lockers. The clutches & plates I use new.
He is the way the truth and the life no one can comes to the father except through Jesus first.. great video can't wait to see the real world work test, but those gears and lockers need massive love brother. Happy New Year to you and your family for 2025🎉 may it bring peace and prosperity and abound in joy and God's Shalom.
I appreciate the scripture at the end. Thank you!
Love seeing the better half
I like to use wheel studs and a lug nut to hold on traction boards, hilift jacks, and other accessories. Then a simple lug wrench takes them off and if you live in a high theft area you can put wheel locks on them to keep your stuff in place.
Looks fantastic, I'd like to see the wiring side!
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing your talent and knowledge one again.
Great video! I vote to see wiring the new lights!
Looking great! Colt is in his element on this and the S-10 build. I've been doing stuff like this for 40 plus years and even an old dog like me learns something new from time to time. I love old school.
Nice to see some actual triangulation and forethought in the tube work
The traction board roof really fits the build in my opinion, you can change it later to something better.
mad props to @Skyjacker !!!
Did not fully understand Skyjacker’s capabilities and willingness to make custom parts! Also great to know they are family owned. I’ve used a few of their lift kits over the years, always top quality stuff that fit!!! Thanks for the information and sharing the information about this company !
Your caged vehicle is so much cooler and well thought out than the others I’ve seen prepped for the MORR event. Good job!

Colt always dropping useful tips and tricks 5:54

Since you show tid bits of all the work you - do the same with wiring the lights! Cant wait for the next show! Thanks man!
Yes the lights please they look awesome
Dropped a like at the beginning for the Tea party joke! lol
Great video yet again. Still looking for that free hat. Lol

OK Colt, this rig is starting to look very cool. But I think it needs an eBay snorkel to complete the look.... Lol😂🤙🏽
Love those Colby valve stems!
Every body ought to have one in their vehicle!
I like the traction board mounted in the rear. I'd do a soft-top over the Cab (Textilene/Sunbrella)
I have no doubt your going to do well in this competition after u build it madddd skillzzzz!! Colt is dam good at everything!!
bungie balls we have a ton of those from when we sold motorcycle gear they are very useful
We use to put cheep football inside the coil springs as a happy medium when running without shocks. Some used them as air bags but unless you add a plastic around them... they don't last long.
Another great video. Thanks keep them coming.

Shanna always seems so joyful in your vids! Don't you get "hone(g)ry" with her! 😁
yet another informational & simple tip tech video... Thanks Dolt & Shannon
😎👍 Always enjoyable and just fun to watch. Fun part is it's a simple affordable off road rig.
🔥🔥🔥So much of the games is filmed with Drones or from a higher point of view. I think something with Colt builds it logo on the roof would be a great idea for the channel. 🔥🔥

Very vice work

Excellent channel, you give real easy instructions. Thank you.
For true Land Roverishness ,Snorkel you need a snorke!
As a Land Rover owner of a same color d1 on 35s and lockers. I didn’t like where you were going with this at first but man it’s turning out so good! I hope you keep and build it more after the games, they are actually super great when built out right.
Yeah, the potential is definitely there!
as a D1 owner locked on 35s, you need to join us for Rovicon in '25!
@@donhappel9566 we’ve talked don, it’s rovah_dude lol. I need to plan a trip out one of these years.
@@donhappel9566ha maybe one of these days don. It’s still regularly being built and is my daily, rovah_dude we’ve talked lol.
Just a thought your expanded Metal gave me. In the void of the rear door opening, and the B pillar down bar.. you could fill it in to keep gear inside the tear party..
I loved my disco. Wish I still had it.
Zip ties are a UL listed securement device. At least the good ones 😁
coming along great Colt!!
Yes wire the lights.
Colt you should move the "ROV" to the left side of the hood and "LAND" in front of the "ER" Rovlander
Can’t wait to see the rover hit the trails
Hey all, if you watch and not subscribed, please do so, it helps Colt a lot. 😊😊😊
This channel is quickly becoming my favorite. Colt and Shanna are super comfortable on camera and (despite having mad skills) Colt explains things so that if one has even a basic fab knowledge one can build much the same stuff, just not as pretty! 😊
Thank you, we're always trying to make things easier to understand!
Well said @SuperDeucecoupe!
Is there going to be a "holy crap" bar for the passenger to hold on to? The cage might be a bad idea. Another great video. Learning a ton from your channel Colt.
Oops. Just got to the point in the video. lol.
I absolutely LOVE the Bible verse at the end. May God bless you!
six pack, colt door gaurds.
I can’t believe tool manufacturers aren’t knocking on your doors offering free tools to showcase on your TH-cam channel
Great job with the Skyjacker shocks.
Could have used this code a few months back, all four corners and a stearing damper, well worth it though, price was easy to budget in. I need a Low Range offroad discount or even better a Colt builds it* right for You* discount code 😂 awesome progress can't wait to see these rip
sure hope I make the off-road games
You need to try Mean Green hand cleaner . I used it at our salvage yard for over 20 years until we closed after my father’s passing.
Colt you need a bunch of road signs to cover the roof.
That's always a fun way to go👍
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽 tips and tricks are awesome.
Looking good
Colt - RE: the lights, you gotta have three on the front bumper instead of 2. It's a Rover thing....
I'll see what I can do
Show the light wiring. I'd like to see how you do it.
Ratchet Straps, plus watch Market Place and classifieds for truck bed toolboxes steel or aluminum, lots of flat plate to be had. Wish I was closer to you, several 24"x30" store shelves in the scrap pile. Keep up the good work.
They make nice Velcro straps that you could use for the trac tie downs
Solid core wire makes a great removable twist tie thats relatively cheap.
Good idea
I want to see you wire the lights
Looking good 👍 👌 😎
Thanks for the scripture at the end, guys. Good to see your faith shining bright!
Velcro cable rap for the traction boards. You can re use it for ever and it is tested and rated to hold a 12 pack of Corona beers on the back of a Harley at 80 mph without failure.
Happy New Year
Looking good.
You should name the Land Rover "Red Chile"
Great video
another great video and info!
Those seats sure are eating a bunch of cherry red welding berries.
Good thing they're leather
Chicken chasers !
Colt Utah in March is cold, so the sun will be needed. Just a thought.

Great content, as always. I don't know why your channel isn't already over 100k subscribers, but it will be soon!
Thank you, I sure hope so.
Thanks Colt. I learn something new every video. And that ain’t easy being an old fart.
I think the top would have looked cool if you could find a side x side top from an old 5 seater and used it for a top.
Instead of zip ties, use your tube, weld post to them drill a hole in them and use hair pin or hitch pin. Just like your hood pins.
Just want to see them work
I think this channel is excellent. I gotta say something. The tabs you mounted the lights up front/top. Those look like forehead killers if you tipped off a drop and nosed it. How are you supposed to pull the shocks out in the field? Please show the wiring work.
Problem is the holes are down inside the board so I couldn't use a wingnut
I'd order two more traction boards. You know on a lot of desert vehicles, they put a second layer of metal on the roof to isolate the sun from the roof.
Buy 2 more tracks. I believe that They should add less weight, then a pess of metal. And plus, they are easier to take off if you want more open air/ take in some sun rays.
Wait!… Colt is actually building something instead of driving around like a tour guide???? Finally “Colt Builds it”!
Do the rules allow you to run a front locker like a simple lunchbox? I put gm govlocs in my old halftons alot & makes a huge difference! GM sells the little pulling & press tools to rebuild them using used parts from other lockers. The clutches & plates I use new.
I hope I doesn't get to banged up at the games, I like the way it turned out.
Paint the hood yellow and re-name the tea party lil' charmander.
Colt you and matt from bleepinjeep need to do all the Trails in sand hollow
I like the Bible verse at the end
Happ New Year!!
✌️
He is the way the truth and the life no one can comes to the father except through Jesus first.. great video can't wait to see the real world work test, but those gears and lockers need massive love brother. Happy New Year to you and your family for 2025🎉 may it bring peace and prosperity and abound in joy and God's Shalom.
Nothing worse than paying the yearly extortion to drive you vehicle on crappy roads
😅 I got rino usa trac boards and they are used exactly like that. The roof on my samurai buggy 😂
i want to see the lights
If you still want more shade contact me. I can custom sew you some shade panels.
Are you going to put a winch on it? I wouldn't go off road without a winch.
Those cam style harnesses suck when they get dirt and sand in them.
Ive had great luck with them on my Corbeau cam belts. 15 years strong
Are you going to roll the cut body edges to get rid of the sharp edges cutting into tires and humans on the trails?
