you could start a museum/carsales/coffee and breakfast and lunch place with all the cars you have collected. There is a location of that in the Netherlands (Gallery Aaldering) which is just a lovely place to be, but it is focused on classic cars. I think this concept could also work with modern exclusive cars. The place is free to enter and you can have a lunch and coffee, while you can also buy very special cars if you have the wallet for it. If you do not buy you can walk around all the cars (and everyone seems very carefull with the cars). Been there multiple times when my son was younger, lovely place.
Having the ability to see over $100,000 in fees and send it anyway is a feat in itself, been watching you since that old driveway, you should be really proud of yourself matt, sucks this one slipped through but you'll get a chance at a hypercar at some point.
The auction stopped at 561 because you had no more money to bid. It increases by steps of 1000 and the other bidder bid 559, you 560, he 561 and that's where your bids stopped. If he also used the same service both bids would show El Salvador. He most probably would have kept going.
Agreed. With how much back and forth there was I doubt 562 would have ended it. He was already more than 10% over what he wanted to spend so probably for the best!
Exactly right, happens all the time with auctions and automated bidding. The bidding simply swings back and forward automatically, it all depending on whether you hold the bid or are the underbidding when your limit is reached. To secure a purchase, always advisable to bid live for yourself so you can bid one more time if needed. I understand how this was not possible in the case. Sorry we are not seeing this build on Matt’s channel.
Basically this is car-ebay on cocaine-steroids, damn. Ebay law, never bid ahead of time, bid LIVE and bid to your max based on rarity in last few seconds (+ a wee bit - as who wants to loose an auction for that wee bit) Bidding big takes balls but these are high stakes so likely lost to a more seasoned high $ bidder. Just convince yourself you dodged a bullet and move on having learnt a small lesson.
Luxury problems! Been homeless 18months now...I'd be happy with a front door in my own home to close...some people need a reality check. Love the channel Mat, your positive energy and willingness to chase your dreams is inspiring ❤
@@danielburridge4849 Sorry they don’t need a realty check, this is about repairs to damaged cars, doors would annoy me, sorry your homeless but you have the internet, indeed a good job locating site, doesn’t matter what your life is things can get annoying, finger prints on passenger door windows on my £400 Fiesta or my £45k Mercedes, still a pain, I left school with no !!! qualifications, but did to a much lesser degree what Mat does, the £400 Fiesta I sold for £845 and went on from there, good luck with the job hunting.
I can't imagine just the yearly fees like registration and insurance alone on all those super cars. You're an inspiration to many people, I'm sure. From humble beginnings to an over filled 5 car garage.
5 in the garage with 2 dream cars still outside. While the others are out of camera shot. Is this a dream? or really real?? hats off to Mat and the team!!
28:32 It clearly says El Salvador Bid $561,000 and the bids between them and Matt were increasing by $1000 so with no other bidders it was bound to either end with their bid of $561K or possibly much higher but Matt wasn't able to bid anymore
A suggestion for the flood cars strip the carpet and seats out and clean them with a professional furniture cleaning machine. Then disconnect every accessible connector and use a connector cleaner and apply a electric corrosion spray. Add a small amount of dielectric grease to each one. If you don't the copper will continue to slowly corroded and cause gremlins in your electronics. Try not to splice any wire with those low temp soldering connectors cause they fail quickly. Use a higher temp solder and heat shrink with a water seal. Gud luck folks
That's what I'm thinking as well. If you don't clean out/refurbish every connector and controller you will have fun with the gremlins sooner or later. I mean there's a reason why this car was written off while basically brand new and it's not because insurances don't know what they're doing. Shouldn't be a problem for Matt but for everyone else thinking about buying a flood damaged car, keep that in mind.
MAT I got a tip for you. When your painting rims, get yourself some playing cards, and go to, Touch Up Direct, and get some paint to match paint. Then put the playing cards in between the rim and tire and do light sprays.
I started since I always wanted to try it, then I saw your videos and give it a try, I bought first a mini for my wife, fixed it, then Focus ST, fixed it followed by another mini clubman... after those Honda element.... and the big jump was, my current Giulia Quadrifoglio♥ Each one ... such a pain in the ass :D , but lot of learning!
New to the channel and curious- did the guys ever fail to repair a car they bought? Big fan, really enjoying watching a very nice team work on these cool projects
The explanation is very simple. If you have your max bid set to $561,000, the system will automatically place a bid for you up to a maximum of exactly $561,000. If the bid increments are $1,000 and the bid amounts are ending in "000.00", it would come down to the 50/50 chance that the last bid the system placed for you was $560,000.00. If the next bid by another bidder comes in at $561,000.00, now the system will not place another bid on your behalf as the next bid needed to outbid them would be a minimum of $562,000.00. If that bidder's max bid were indeed $561,000.00, you were just unlucky that your bids ended in even increments and theirs in odd numbers. Hope this helps explain it better. I think the video showing you as the high bidder at an even increment bears this out.
What an insane life you live now. Impressive isn’t a word even close to it. In awe of your work ethic and your amazing channel you’ve built, I’ve been following for almost 4 years now. I wish you and all your team ongoing huge success’ its thoroughly earned and deserved
I would guess the GT is definitely worth more. For the next video, might be best to shake the spray canister in frame of the camera. I like to think of this as a family show. Good luck on the next one
My shed is still tinged with red where I tried to refill the cooling system on an Apple Mac G5 about 12 years ago. They are factory sealed so you end up with a pipe off and a syringe injecting the red coolant into it. Until the pressure blows the pipe off the syringe. I looks like someone was murdered in there.
36:56 it only went for your max bid because you didnt bid again, if you did then they would have probs bid again and it would have kept going up. You was fighting 1 other person
Mat, diy car valeter pro tip of oldtimer . Use poker cards to stick betuen the rim and the tyer insted of the cardboard. Youl have perfect protection and its just easyer. I literally painted 100ds of rims that way, never had any problem. In the beginning I used cardboard to but it is cumbersome.

Scraplife Dalt posted a video of the live auction on this, too, 2 bidders , El Salvador and Georgia , £561,000 . It's mad that you weren't the winner . It would have been amazing to see a car of this calibre on your channel, Matt
Hiya. You say your dad has got issues with his hearing. I’m an audiologist from Leicestershire/Rutland and could check his hearing if you like. BTW. I have a Lexus RF F. There’s gotta be a load of crash damaged Lc500 or RCf’s around. Be great to see you do one of those. One of the last naturally aspirated V8’s
Mat. You could install TV screens on the back wall of the garage that you can project logos of the cars currently parked in front of them so you don't have to move cars or change posters. Would be a neat addition to your collection space.
I've watched all your video's from the last few years and absolutely love your channel (only vice grip garage better, sorry). They say behind every great man is a great woman so shout out to Hannah, the unsung hero behind the success of this channel.
Your bidding company may have put in your 560k bid, then someone live bid 561k. In which case you would lose because you don't have 562k. Otherwise, they live bidder would have to know you were maxed at 561k, they they just match your bid, which wouldn't make sense, because then a live bidder could never lose.
I would have expected a live bidder at 561 would loose as Matts bid would/should take precedence. On eBay if you bid the same as someone else’s max… let’s say £10, you get told that you you have been outbid and you need to bid more than £10
@@DerekEmerson No, Matts top bid came to be 560. Minimum increase was $1000, and you can't bid the same amount. Copart didn't know Matts max bid was 561, only the 3rd party bidding service making automatic bidding knew.
This is honestly amazing. To take on the challenge of rebuilding dream cars and not only but rebuilding them but making them your own and enjoying them is what it’s about. Even though you’ve already come so far I see high potential and monumental achievements in your future
@37:17 Ain't it just the first person to bid 561k that wins if it's the highest bid? Even if you succeed in increasing your max bid to 562k, you would still be beaten by another that bids 562k if they are faster than you. Right?

@@danielburridge4849but you’ve got TH-cam?
@@danielburridge4849 Sorry they don’t need a realty check, this is about repairs to damaged cars, doors would annoy me, sorry your homeless but you have the internet, indeed a good job locating site, doesn’t matter what your life is things can get annoying, finger prints on passenger door windows on my £400 Fiesta or my £45k Mercedes, still a pain, I left school with no !!! qualifications, but did to a much lesser degree what Mat does, the £400 Fiesta I sold for £845 and went on from there, good luck with the job hunting.
Hello mat, you don't need to change the seat module because of that fault, you only need to calibrate trough the OBD scanner
I always thought the nature of the wrecked cars meant they’re likely not able to be insured again
28:32 It clearly says El Salvador Bid $561,000 and the bids between them and Matt were increasing by $1000 so with no other bidders it was bound to either end with their bid of $561K or possibly much higher but Matt wasn't able to bid anymore
couldve been another bidder on better bid that they were also bidding on behalf of
Seems like a scam to me these proxy bid sites are known for it
@@rattler1633nah, it’s an obvious scam
Awesome, love this channel, love your books and love MSFG!! Page 77 for dinner tonight.... happy days 😅😅
Been watching you religiously for 3 years now and love them all! Love seeing your progression in life all the same
I started since I always wanted to try it, then I saw your videos and give it a try, I bought first a mini for my wife, fixed it, then Focus ST, fixed it followed by another mini clubman... after those Honda element.... and the big jump was, my current Giulia Quadrifoglio♥ Each one ... such a pain in the ass :D , but lot of learning!
What we love is how mat uses the cars - he did nearly 2000miles in that black RR last week😢
New to the channel and curious- did the guys ever fail to repair a car they bought? Big fan, really enjoying watching a very nice team work on these cool projects
Just got home after having my 6 month old Honda e:NY1 written off. Sad day. Thanks for brightening it up.
I believe winter tyres are mandatory in Germany and Switzerland in winter…
No only in Germany here in switzerland are wintertires not mandatory but in case of a crash your insurance will decline
the fine for not having winter tyres is 80 euro in germany so way cheaper than new winter tyres
No, they are not. But you get in trouble if you crash in summer tires in freezing conditions
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
Winter tyres are mandatory through most leasecompanies here in the Netherlands. I do have them privately and they make a big difference.
13:42 surely the only Cullinan to ever have an Ikea bag in the back 😂
Definitely not
"Am panicing, think am going to lose me job" 💀🤣 nah that sent me. legendary meme
this dude Is who I think of when they ask me for a crazy successful car TH-camr.
congrats on everything Mat, crazy how far you have come.
still think you should build a 'Tavarish' style unit on that horse paddock area, then have all you business on your own property
No chance of getting planning permission in that part of the country
He lives on a massive estate. No chance they say he can't build a big shed
Not allowed.....
31:42 that’s so relatable, when I was a kid I sprayed painted my bmx in the shed, everything was purple splattered overspray 😂
Don´t blame dad, Switzerland, wintertime, snow and sommer tyres....brilliant choise
I think by-law in Switzerland that have to change tyres because of accidents.
Kevin flying by looking at you out of the corner of his eye was too funny lol
35:16 no one will ever know 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂
36:56 it only went for your max bid because you didnt bid again, if you did then they would have probs bid again and it would have kept going up. You was fighting 1 other person
It lowkey baffles me nobody thought of that out of all of them. Only thing strange is that it wasn't listed on auctions lost.
So after hours of watching your rebuilds, which I love I finally subscribe. Apologies I didn’t do it sooner. Great stuff!
Culinan for that money is wild . Congrats Matt
if he will sell it, he will win easy almost 100k

1 million views in 6 hours. Massive man 🎉🎉
Mat, diy car valeter pro tip of oldtimer .
Use poker cards to stick betuen the rim and the tyer insted of the cardboard. Youl have perfect protection and its just easyer. I literally painted 100ds of rims that way, never had any problem. In the beginning I used cardboard to but it is cumbersome.
Good tip that - next time I get stuck with a fix on my Rolls Royce, I can use my other BMW as a reference point. 😅🤣
Looks like the wood in front of your garage is pulling moisture from the ground?
yea this should be adressed
8:30 team up. BMW own them
Make no mistake Rolls Royce made the decision to sell to BMW so they have infact decided to team up with BMW...
@@howardgreener4176BMW offered to buy and Rolls accepted. No teaming up mate, it’s called a takeover. BMW tells Rolls what to do, they don’t tell each other.
That's why when you buy a bmw it's full of rolls Royce parts 😂😂 the Germans own Rolls Royce because they bought them
This channel is the best! Always entertaining and informative. Keep up the great work, guys! 👍

Did they have summer tires all the way to Switzerland ?
Yes, they couldn't find tyres for the Urus. I think they had 24s on them and could only find winter tyres up to 23"
Scraplife Dalt posted a video of the live auction on this, too, 2 bidders , El Salvador and Georgia , £561,000 .
Add an NFC tag to the rear bumper and a reader on the wall so it changes automatically!

@@mabs503Ahh, that makes sense
He confirm on the new MK2 video
Well my day just got better
This is honestly amazing. To take on the challenge of rebuilding dream cars and not only but rebuilding them but making them your own and enjoying them is what it’s about. Even though you’ve already come so far I see high potential and monumental achievements in your future
That’s crazy Matt
Last i checked there was a crashed LFA which was owned by a guy named Chu, it would be a great project for matt
Yes… agreed. Would love to see an LFA here. Best sounding car ever!
"Go Kevin!.....
" Do a fly by! " vvvRRRROOOooommm! 😂😂😂
28:46 it still said el salvador?
@37:17 Ain't it just the first person to bid 561k that wins if it's the highest bid? Even if you succeed in increasing your max bid to 562k, you would still be beaten by another that bids 562k if they are faster than you. Right?
These guys are awesome! Love their passion for cars and their dedication to the project. Can't wait to see the Carrera GT restored to its former glory!

Its sold and rebuilt by some other youtuber. You can find it and search on TH-cam by that car and Mats name.
@ropponenjoonas7052 nice one for that mate 👍
I kept wondering about it too. Saw it repaired by Yorkshire car restoration but nothing after.
