Thank you man for sticking to your roots. You’re my favorite channel now so far. Everybody else like pudding has sold out. I would try to win the whistle pig but I’ve never won anything, what little I do have I’ve had to bust my ass for. One person will be really lucky to win it tho. If you watch his early videos you can see the man turn "yard art" into beautiful hot rods with very little money invested. A quote that hit home with me. "I don't restore cars, I just fix them." That being said, I do enjoy watching You and Puddin beating some rusty plows into shiney new ones..

This is great bc most of us don’t have the confidence to just start putting a car together from scratch. I’ve seen you hang fenders and entire front clips plus hoods on some of your vehicles like you were the one who took it apart. I had a 53 Chevy 3100 with all the parts in the bed in the desert. It was free to me but the only thing bolted on was the cab. They had even cut the radiator support in half with a torch. So not knowing any better I brought all the pieces home. Bought bolts according to what the holes were in the fenders and anything else that bolted together. I couldn’t figure out why when I welded the radiator support together and used hardware that was basically a 1/8” bigger than I should have used for wiggle room. Well I’ll just say it was like trying stretch a piece of wood that you had cut a 1/2” short. I would be at car shows trying to figure out how other 3100s were bolted together not personally knowing anyone who could guide me. This was just prior to the pantina period and before the internet. So all I had was the Chevrolet manual that was fairly vague other than where a spot weld should be for a guy on the line. It was more for the engineer than just a layman. I finally slotted out the already over sized holes and got the front clip on and the hood was a whole different animal just to get it to open and close. It looked like a cowl hood just so I could get to open and close. I was fairly capable of pulling and replacing engine parts and brake and suspension parts and I could put back together anything I had taken apart. So I can appreciate your approach on this project. Especially trying to explain it to those of us who have never done it before with just 2 frame rails and don’t have 15k to just throw down on a rolling chassis Makes all of us really appreciate the original hot rodders from the 40s and 50s who did something that had never been done before and is still being used today even now being reproduced bc of their ingenuity from those decades. Sure they had a lot to choose from and it was mostly free but they made it work and we still appreciate and want what they made bc it’s so cool
So please do what you do bc and the way you share your information is truly appreciated by those of us who don’t know it all 👍🏻

the same way after every event.
Got the same Rubbermaid cart. I put a piece of 3/4" plywood on it for a level work surface and clamp it in place whenever needed. For various projects, I will then use random dimension lumber as blocking, backstop or whatever. C-clamps and locking pliers to suit each job. Wheel it out into the driveway or not. Very versatile.

    First and foremost Sir Mortske.
Happy New Year and Happy Birthday. It makes me feel old when my oldest turns 42 this year.
I enjoyed the video. Lit is nice to see another old one coming back to life. Plus it will keep you Hot Roding during the colder months.

If you use a brazing tip on the oxy acetylene torch you can heat the perimeter of a dent and as the metal cools it will pull out the dent. May need need to rinse and repeat until it is up enough to smooth out with the dolly. Make it Kustom and Halfass Brent use air planishing hammers to smooth out stretched metal. That metal bumping book is a good guide to use. Hope this info helps.AL B.

That is the reality of old cars, restorations take longer than they took to build the Titanic.
Not to mention, parts are a fortune, if you can find them. ( I'd Look for another carcass) as far as panel beating goes, Scott from Cold-war Motors in Canada is a Dang genius at that....
I admire your optimism... Mr. Mortske.

Bolting sheet metal is tricky. You may need to weld on spacers to get the correct column height 1.5X the diameter to get and maintain proper bolt torque. Or you may be constantly tightening things up. Like a AMF Harley.

You can rig the porter powe a d some made up we😢ld on d-ring to pull that door edge. Weld the d-,rings opposite the pull edge. Then jerry rig the porter power to push across that belt molding. Make achiel like thin flat piece to pound inside the hems, straighten the hem edge, reflatten the area. Some heat. To zbi k the skin, heat the protruding dents, take 2 flat plates, and slam them from each side to flatten that area. As you do that, the skin will pull into itself.
