I wouldn't be surprised if Max would quit in a few years. He has already stated that he is at times fed up with the FIA, he often cares more for digital racing, even if it means loosing sleep right before a actual F1 race. He often says he isn't concerned with records or or winning all the time. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he would win 2025 again and quit in 2026. And moved on to greener pastures.

Little bit of context missing. Max had to convince his father to let him kart. His father told max that if he really wanted it, it would be brutal. Max acceoted that challenge.
That Italy story, Max was a teen and his mom was 5 minutes behind them, scheduled to stop at the same gas station.
I still wouldn't raise my kids like Jos did, but lets keep it a bit closer to the truth.

Thank you @annebokma4637, I was about to point out the same. Too much unnecessary drama to drive a wedge between father and son. One that was never there. Jos is a hothead, for sure, but he would never harm any of his children. He knew what it takes to get to the top. That ultimate top he never accomplished, mainly due to bad advice and lack of development support. The Verstappen story is so much different from the Hamilton story as told by Lewis’ mum. Anthony wanted to be famous but needed his son to do that for him and set up his racing career. Both boys had the talent, but Jos was there to prepare him in the best way possible. A way that demanded commitment from the whole family. When adolescent Max threw away a result in Italy, Jos got mad when Max was making up excuses on their way home. Maybe that was the real turning point from racing on talent to learning to become the best, just as Jos predicted to be necessary to reach the top. I wouldn’t do that either, but I have no children that reached any top in any competitive environment or invested hundred of thousands in my children’s dream. And yes, Sophie was around to pick up the pieces.
@only-revved_up, when Max joined CRG karting he only got their materials. Jos kept preparing the karts and engines back at Pex in the Netherlands, their home base. Next to that, Max is a driver with knowledge of the game; the rules, regulations and penalties. Just like a footballer he knows when to commit a foul to take an advantage over his WDC contender. All the great F1 drivers knew how to take a yellow card and benefit from it. A time penalty in F1 is nothing more than a yellow card in football.

Racing was different when Schumacher was at his peak - but Max reminds me soo much of him. Able to win in worse material, doing things nobody else can, dominating in rain - He is even better than schumacher in wheel to wheel race - Only thing he didnt proof yet, is if he is able to make a team winning - Ive been a fan of him since 2018 - Before that - i thought there will never be another Schumacher, everything is just too technical, driver isnt as important anymore... When max came into f1, you could see the difference IMMEDIATELY. he did things different, he was ruthless insanely fast - he was just outstanding... i remember very well how it felt when schumacher was pushing - you could see it outside the car - the car was dancing on the track.. tbf nowadays that wouldnt be a good style - there wasnt as much tyre management back then - anyways somehow you see it with max aswell - when hes going nuts, you can see it, you can feel it. im german so if anything im biased towards michael... i rly dont understand how you can NOT see how insane of a driver this guy is... i just hope to see him switching to a mediocre team at some point and win wdc after a few years...

What people now and especially the British forget is that Schumacher was so much better than the rest, he chose to make Ferrari champion and sacrificed the WDC record chase for that. He got that record despite going for a bigger challenge, every team wanted him, he could have gone to Williams or McLaren but didn't and had an uphill battle for many years to finally get Ferrari a WDC.

Even if it gets an obviously well deserved N1 status, kind of like Lewis had with Bottas or Alonso with Massa, it will definitely not be as one-sided as in RBR. And imo that's the source of all his ideas about leaving F1 if he gets bored/tired. If he can't have his way in RBR he may probably retire on top rather than going to another team. Despite all his banter/delusions/whatever that was about winning the championship in a MacLaren or Ferrari even sooner.

He's deep into the sim racing scene and I feel like he's using that a bit as an avenue to explore other disciplines whilst being committed to F1. But that's merely speculative. He's said he'll quit when he feels it's time. Probably wil never join another F1 team, though I disagree that he's not going to get some absolutely insane offers if he was moderately available. This consensus was reflected in the final race at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which concluded with a battle instead of a safety car. One could speculate that without the safety car, Max might have caught up to Lewis, considering the worn state of Lewis's tires and Max had new tires.
But imagine if Max hadn't experienced tire issues in the second race; he might have secured the championship. Totally agree (except Max catching up without the SC, Lewis was too quick that race), but all the haters of Abu Dhabi 21 seem to have total amnesia of the season before that one race. Yes RB was extremely lucky with that SC but they also pitted at every occasion for new tires so they could maximize once the opportunity presented itself.
If you tally all the luck/badluck moments over the whole season for both teams Mercedes was very lucky the championship decision was prolonged as far as it did.

Would we call Senna evil, if he was racing today? And sure, I did not like the Michael Schumacher years and the Hamilton years... that you knew before, who was going to win. Ofcourse I had less problems when the Max years started in 2021... because hey, until then (accept for Jos Verstappen) we did not have drivers in good cars that ever had a chance in a championship. So yes, I enjoyed that very much. But even Max himself said that he wished he had more competition. He felt last year as if he was not really racing anymore. And half the Netherlands often hopes that Max gets a penalty, so that Max has to battle his race forward. Especially if it is a rainy race! Because that is Max at his best!

As much as I don't like Jos, the truth is, he didn't push Max to be a racer. In an old interview with Schumacher, he even said if Max wants to do other sports that he would support him. And Max REALLY wanted to race and begged his mom and dad. And so Jos supported mini Max's decision to race. Jos was a good coach, but he's also a bad father. He had issues within himself that he project on Max and his mom, but he never forced Max to be a racer. And that's why Max keeps winning to this day because he truly want what he's doing.
Also, Max did not come from a super rich family, nor did he was backed up by a rich person. Jos was in F1 because of his Dutch sponsors. And Max got into a team in F3 because Jos is friend to his old team, who are the slowest in F3 but Max was 2nd in the championship. Max was already popular in karting, became super popular in F3 that even some F1 fans know how good he is. And then he came to F1 and showed the whole grid why he's a real threat to everyone, you can see how Vettel and Hamilton looked at teen Max. Even Nico Rosberg was more scared of Max than Lewis in 2016 championship fight. Some people may hate Max, but no one can deny that he is a class of his own. A real talent of the century.

11:40 That is wrong information. The regulations mandate that the race director decides who can and who can't unlap themselves. It was perfectly within the rules, which is why the result stands. Masi was fired due to pressure from Merc, who have huge influence on the FIA because they are engine supplier to so many teams.
And of course Max gets treated differently. Remember Brazil when half the grid violated regulations regarding the abandoned restart? Minor financial fines for the offenders (Max knew the rules and followed them BTW). Or Merc changing their tyre pressures illegally? Another minor financial fine. Max swearing getting him a penalty while Charles got away with a slap on the wrist (just a minor fine). There *is* bias in the FIA and among the stewards, there is no other explanation for the extreme inconsistency in the application of the rules.

Great video, you definitely mad Max honor with it which he deserves as he's a great driver, without giving him unnecessary hyped praise and goat talk.
But I would like to make a precision: you mention that in 2023 Max developed an incredibly refined style that combined agressive driving with good tyre management. That is simply impossible. Sure, a good driver can manage to take care of his tyres and at the same time be faster than a not so good driver. But at this level it's just not reasonable that someone can keep a >1s per lap difference while saving the tyres better than the rest, UNLESS they have a huge car advantage.
Tyre managment in the RB19 was clearly thanks to the asymmetric braking valve that was banned mid 2024 (it was banned because it was found, asymmetric braking was already forbidden, only RB managed to get it from a valve system rather than from the control unit, which would be the easy way to do it, but it was clearly deemed against the spirit of the rule anyway). Right after it was banned, Max's car lost a big chunk of performance, and Max himself was seen for the first time since over a year having trouble with the steering and having worse tyres than even Checo (like in Baku).

The recent FIA ruling that if you have the apex you own the corner and can force the other driver to run wide, almost seems to have been introduced to favour Max's driving style.

I was thinking about it this weekend and yes, the new rule absolutely gives Max an edge, no more 10-second penalties

He’s good cause preparation and the years behind the wheel are important, hence the full recap of earlier years
At the least that was my thinking 🧐
