With all the drivers that were on the market throughout the season, Mercedes made the worst choice possible. I stand up to my statement, and am pretty sure they noticed that themselves later causing them to sign Bottas as a reserve, just for the case that might come faster than expected.
What defines a good / bad outcome for Mercedes? If they are taking a 20% roll of the die that Antonelli is the next Hamilton or Verstappen then they are making a decent move. Even if it likely to not pan out more often than it's comes good. Compare to RB situation where no options credibly have as high of a ceiling.
I recall in 2021/2022 when everyone was desperately calling out for young drivers to get seats instead of drivers like Hulk and Kmag returning to the sport. This is the chaotic driver market we hoped for back then. So many young drivers and relative rookies getting chances, especially in top teams. 2022 was a good season for track battles. 2023 was eh. Then 2024 delivered the drama, track battles and this driver swap madness. Abu Dhabi 2021 changed the world of F1 forever 😂
It seems increasingly more difficult for rookie drivers to make the transition from F2 to F1 and I think it's purely down to modern F1 cars being so tricky to drive fast and get used to quickly because of the ground effects needed to keep the car glued to the ground. Natural drivers tend to get used to a tricky older F1 car much quicker than an aerodynamic dependent modern F1 car, Colapinto's crashes in Brazil and Las Vegas. These modern F1 cars are super heavy and very aero dependent and when you lose control of them there is just no coming back from it.

I think Sainz made a big mistake in waiting. He might just had a chance with a good mid-fielder but signed with a laoing team which I do not believe will rise from their hole
Honestly, the biggest clown move was Audi going for Hulkenberg when they had Bottas. I'd understand if they went for another driver to replace Bottas, it's not like he's the hottest driver on the grid, but Hulkenberg? They let go of a proven GP winner with prime Mercedes experience to get a choker, a guy who threw every chance he's got to score even a podium.
Hulkenberg has some epic qualifying pace that could get some early results for Audi, maybe throw a midfield car onto the front row or similar. Meanwhile Bottas isn't even convincingly beating Zhou. Who else would you even go for as a experienced driver to lead the team? Audi tried for Sainz and didn't get him. Perez? Ricciardo? Ocon? Magnussen? None in great form, meanwhile Hulkenberg has 42pts in a Haas.
And bottas was familiar with the sauber environment. Audi doesent need fast drivers at the moment. They need people. And I value Bottas higher than Hulkenberg as a team builder
Formula 1 needs Balance of performance. I'm so sick of only a few teams being able to win. I don't give a crap who builds the best car I want to see close races and who the best driver is. BoP would also solve the cost issue and attract more car brands. Just build a car balance it out with the others and use it for 3 years. No need to spend millions just to get 0.1 seconds faster. WEC is so much more interesting to watch than F1.

Yeah...I believe the loosers of the silly season were Tsunoda and M. Schumacher, I would have liked to see MS on the grid and Tsunoda in the RB....
You really think mick will ever come back? He isn't his dad. People need to move on. He struggled at haas. When your teammate is mazepin you will always look great but he really isn't.
@thepolishnz funny... we all know he's not his dad! There are many drivers that should've been moved on many years ago and were allowed to stay put. Has nothing to do with anything now does it.... and it still remains I would have liked to see him on the grid no more no less!
@@thepolishnz He had the same crashes in 2 years as F1's new poster boy Crashapinto in 5 race weekends. One is racing in WEC, the other basically has a seat. Make it make sense!
Mick is brilliant. He actually finished ahead of people on track with that terrible car
@lmads8023 mazepin and retirements dont count
When the silly season is actually silly
Red Bull nonsense definitely contributed atleast 25% of the total chaos.
5 ads with 2 ad breaks in first 3 minutes. Screw your free TH-cam
Before the video started, an AD popped up. I was already annoyed. Video plays. Not even 3 minutes, another AD. Video plays, barely another 3 minutes, AD comes up. INCREDIBLE. 🤬
Use an ad-blocker 🤷♂️
Desktop: Firefox + Ublock Origin
If on mobile: NewPipe, YT ReVanced, or the mobile Firefox browser with the mobile version of Ublock. Works like a charm.
Revanced is the best ad-free mobile TH-cam experience.
You'll need a bit of time and effort to set it up, though.
I think some of these teams are going to need sizeable crash budgets.
Especially Alpine. Gasly will need to have another flawless season when the other driver totals the car every weekend. Unless they do the sensible thing and keep Doohan.
Yeah ferrari. Lewis is gonna hate being a 2nd driver
Poor Sainz. Did everything right but still ended up at Williams
Why does Stroll still have a seat? I guess daddy's money rules.. and It's a shame that Sainz couldn't get a seat at a higher placed team!
Cause of Daddy! That's the only reason, he would be long gone if his Daddy didn't own an F1-team.
@@FCB001 I know right! I'd love to see Mick in his seat, I think even he will do better than Stroll
F1's silly season is as crazy as ever.this year was just like forgetting the stability of the 90's to present, comparatively
Can Lawrence exile his kid to WEC already for the Aston Martin THOR Team instead of the F1 team to give his team an actual chance to improve.
Simple: Hulkenberg is cheaper
Hulkenberg Germany so he will work well in Audi
They wanted a German driver
There was always going to be a lot of movement due to so little happening for 2024.
You need 1 steward per team
Yes Perez qualified low is Monaco but the crash was really Magnusson’s fault👎🏽
Formula 1 needs Balance of performance. I'm so sick of only a few teams being able to win. I don't give a crap who builds the best car I want to see close races and who the best driver is. BoP would also solve the cost issue and attract more car brands. Just build a car balance it out with the others and use it for 3 years. No need to spend millions just to get 0.1 seconds faster. WEC is so much more interesting to watch than F1.
Binotto and Bortoleto look like father and son
THE STROLL STILL SECURE!!!! Hes gonna win in next year mark my words
Nepotism strikes again as Lance Stroll still has a seat.
Sweet! Been watching F1 on youtube, a _miniscule_ bit, for the past few days and now the algorithm has decided I'm a true F1 fan and need stuff like this shoved in my face *ASAP* .
I'm not complaining, but god damn it... you just help "ruin" my recommended feed lol.
It was just crazy 2024 drivers market and also personnel change is big for 2025. Can't wait to see waht will be this year in F1 with all the changes 🤩🤩🤟
Great video
Antonelli is not going to work out. At least not this season.
I can’t understand how Mick Schumacher’s stock is so low in the F1 paddock. He’d have been perfect for Alpine. Now they’ve got Doohan in, already on borrowed time waiting for Colapinto to swoop in after a few races
He isn't that good.
His Haas stint put a dent on his value
@@sheldoniusRex plenty good enough to be a solid 2nd to Gasly
@@zoom0283 more so Steiner’s unnecessarily critical comments I’d say. Had some great results in the Haas. The crashes are held against him, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue with Colapinto for some reason
Anyone named Carlos Sainz is watching this with tears in their eyes.
That’s a lot of people, actually. And a lot of those are indeed related to Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro Cenamor Rincón Rebollo Birto Moreno de Aranda Don Pero Urrielagoiria Pérez Del Pulgar Jr.
He really got the worst possible outcome from this situation.
mercedes smart , let hamilton out, and kimi in, how much they saved their money? :D instead paying hamilton, they now have cheaper driver salary by signing kimi in
Lawson is gonna surprise fans and the paddock this year. Don’t forget he already did Super Formula AND outperformed Albon in DTM!
I hope that he can have season like Piastri did in 2023. Nothing stellar but clean and away from trouble. Expecting anything beyond that would be ludicrous.
While he wasnt even the quickest F2 Red Bull driver…
Would be very funny if he started matching Max all of a sudden. He won't, but the concept would be hilarious.
Don’t forget he couldn’t even beat F2 rookie teammate Logan Sargeant while in his second F2 season. He also never out qualified Yuki. And DTM titles mean nothing in terms of F1 potential. So, while he could probably be a solid F1 driver if he was going to another team like Alpine, being Max’s teammate is going to end his career.
@@The_ZeroLine Logan had new engines and Liam didn't but Lawson finished P3 to Logans P4. DTM teaches you a lot about tough racing so does Super Formula. I think he will be like a Piastri or a Sainz over time. Fast and tough but ultimately not a Max

Great channel
sainz was like he took all the waves searching for a good F1 seat throughout 2024 season till he takes seat at williams
I still think that the one who did the worst choice is Red Bull honestly they know how to pick the kids but development is awful! Lawson is way to hype I truly believe if his performance was that good regardless of contracts he would have been given a seat way sooner
Make fernando great again!
6 rookies. cant forget alonso
It's been 4 years since he came back, can we stop with this unfunny joke already?
@@AgainstWokeness many people find it funny, dont make your opinion seem like a fact
When 2024 saw no driver changes for the first time in F1 history, you just KNEW that next year's driver market would be hectic. That it ended up being completely insane like this, nobody saw coming.
Right. I expected hectic. I received chaos. Been bloody good fun to watch it though, hasn't it?
What must Pourchaire do to get a seat in F1..
More money
It feels to me that Ferrari signing lewis Hamilton is an indicative that Ferrari might not trust too much leclerc in leading the team.
That's what i think at least
Then why did they give Leclerc a huge contract extension before that?
@AgainstWokeness possibly because the logical alternatives close to leclerc's were either
Verstappen
Norris (far fetched)
Piastri (far fetched)
And no one is going to say no to a 7 time world championship
So sainz had to somewhat be sacrificed to make room
@@jonathansantos8555 Out of all these drivers only Verstappen is an upgrade to Leclerc, and not even a big one.
If they wanted a new team leader they would have kept Sainz as number 2. Leclerc is too fast to sit back.
You mean 2024 driver market, right?
struggling for news much
Thanks for this, good timeline video!
The teams and principals are so dramatic and pick me smh
last season broke records for no changes made, this season breaks records for most changes made

Yknow what else is crazy?
Colapinto has 2 seats
Cinema!!

Long intros and 2 ads by 3:30. Had enough of youtube these days.
2025 is going to be insane😳
Honestly suprised Aston Martin havent changed at all. With Alonso's Age and stroll underperforming I think they should change their entire lineup for 26 getting in Drugovich and Tsunoda
stroll is never gonna leave cause his dad owns the team even if he keeps doing ass
What's Alonso's age got to do anything if he's performing at a peak level anyway? Hamilton won 2 races at 39, Alonso has loads of podiums after he reached 40. Alonso is still a top 3 driver and still a championship caliper driver. Did you see how he performed at the start of 23? Do you not see him tripling Stroll's points last year? Wake up buddy.
Once Stroll Jr leaves then Newey and all the other expensive staff will follow. Stroll Sr is only funding the team because of his son. When he quits then they'll be no more money.
@@GameOver-nm2us Alonso is absolutely not a top 3 driver, follow your own advice. Outperforming the worst driver on the grid isn't an achievement.
Drugovich and Tsunoda to charge for the title with a Newey designed car? No way.
Aston need to bin Stroll and washed old Alonso if they wanna be taken seriously
My brain hurts!
