This is very helpful! I am participating in the Optimist International oratorical contest this year and I needed to start my speech.

For the introduction does a quote or story work for podcasting as well? I'm trying to put together an outline for my podcast and I find it super hard to do.

Most of my podcasts try to solve a questions people have so in my introduction I try to include something that lets them know I am going to answer their question.
I might straight up say "this is what you will learn in this podcast" or I might empathise with them "have you ever been in this situation" or I might tell a story to empathise "I did this and stuff up but I'm going to show you how you don't have to". I rarely open with a quote. Hope that helps.

Public Speaking Power Yes, this helps a great deal, thank you! I have one more question if you don't mind, when creating a solo podcast can I write it in the form of a speech? I found this outline www.kareyperkins.com/classes/275/Monroe.pdf and I absolutely love it, but I'm not sure if i should use it for creating my podcast. I want to be a motivational speaker and I want my podcast to sound motivational. I'm use to hearing interviewed podcast that solo seems foreign to me and I'm unsure how to go about them. Thank you

Alisa Grant You can podcast in ANY way you want. That's the awesome thing about podcasts. You can deliver it the same as a speech and see if the audience likes it and responds well to it. I find podcasts are a good opportunity to be a bit more personal with the listener because they are usually listening to it on their own rather than in a large group like how a speech is usually delivered. In saying that I simply recommend doing whatever it is YOU want to do that reflects best who YOU ARE.
