It takes a serious amount of awesomeness to put projects like this together. Its not just about building a bike, its much more than that. This bike shows the power of what a free country can do. Curious how the gearing is different compared to an mx 500. Had to like the video because of all the work you put in filming at different locations. Saw this bike in the back of another video, great to see it up close.
The trans ratio is our billet gears, which are exact 2001 CR500 replicas.
The front is a 14T ( standard 500)
The rear sprocket i honestly cant recall what i put on, i debated a bit on stock 49t vs a bit higher gearing fur thexstreet like a 47t.
I believe i ended up splitiing the difference and a 48T on it.
Obviously you could gonyon47,46 etc.
or a 15 on the front :)
But i assumed with this as a dual sport versus super motard it would mainly see in town and back road action just getting to a trail system ,etc.

I love the intro on this one.. Alot of time went into this but you had a smile the hole time. This is the greatest bike ever made. "." Street Legal 500. How can you top that? They (honda) actually should pump these out like vw bugs but kaplan made "1".

3000rpm at 80mph is a lot less stressful than 5000rpm at 75mph..

No, that would require a seperate tank & pump, with the added weight and complexity. It takes all of 5 seconds to mix some fuel. Not that big a deal.
Amazing bike! I wouldn't have to run from the 🚔 on the roads! What's the weight and hp? Never thought I'd see the day where a cr 500 needed a fender eliminator kit!😂 Best bike dealer and channel, Best bike builder on the planet!

Yeppers.... THIS IS THEE ONE!! My God above!!! if I got this, I could die happy. Look at the way the frame is where the cylinder exhaust flange connects to the head pipe at the very beginning of the exhaust. The way the frame has a little "window" there for the pass-through. Absolutely amazing...... every part of the whole bike!!!

You're very welcome AJ!!! You deserve every bit of praise that you receive after one gets a full breakdown of what goes into these machines. These bikes aren't some "backyard hacked-together kit". Actually, to the extreme that you have taken them, they're more like pieces of mechanical jewelry. I know a little bit, not much, but a little bit about metal and machining and the fact that you make so much of it from billet is amazing. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍

@@KaplanCycles Back in my day I had a KE 125 Kawasaki my friends had YZ’s and one friend had the Ducati 125 dirtbike was so fast I can’t believe it was faster than the YZ and the Honda CR 125 but this was the 70s brother keep up the great work man

Here's the thing with a CR500AFL conversion....... Where is the electric start? If this is gonna be a street machine, it needs a button for sudden stalls, and not worry about getting ran the f over...... That's my 2cents. If you wanna go into a collab and do a billet case for a starter LMK.
Issue is , panthera and others have worked on this and offer a bolt on version.so its possible to just add on to current case sets including ours.
I also worked on this back 15 years ago and had a good working proto type.
None of the available starters ,( we used one from a cbr1000)
Were reliable without a decompression in the head incorporated in.
The rub is all of those we have tested on, they almost always fail.and leak, not a huge issue as they are pretty easy to replace and not too expensive,but the overall system,then including decomp and decomp activation tied into the e start button etc,
added a lot of cost and complexity.
Case adaptation is certainly possible ,we already make billet cases,but i havnt gone down that path until.the bolt on option is sorted out to be reliable and less complex, as well as demand for the unit overall.
This is the first one.
Revisions of models in future years is certainly normal and likely. :)
