Dang, you weren't exaggerating about the rust. Hit that truck with rust dissolver and it might disappear. I have had very good luck with Duralast batteries also.
I see in my Syracuse, NY Craig's List a 2003 S-10 for sale ($1,500). It looks to be about as rusty as yours. Now if yours is rusty enough for the battery and stuff to be falling out then what about in the rear and underside of the truck. Are the springs and shocks about ready to pop thru the body? Will your truck still pass inspection for a few years more? I'm so tempted to buy the 2003 because body panels are so cheap. But, if the frame is as rusty as the front end then that is a hopeless truck for me. So, how is the frame and underside on your truck?
I junked my truck earlier this year. That fender video is 2 years old. The frame was very scaly. The cab mounts and bed mounts were all completely gone. I had already replaced the rockers and floors on my truck before and they were starting to go again. $1500 is way too much for any truck this rusty. Save your money unless you want to replace all the body panels, brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, as I did on my truck before it even got as rusty as it was in this video.
@@QuickSpeedShop - I see on another video where the guy had to rebuild the bed and cab supports. What a horrible job. Seems like these S-10's dissolve as badly as the Jeep Wranglers. I think I'd be better off buying a Southern vehicle even if the motor or tranny was bad. It's a lot easier to swap out a motor or tranny than to pull apart and replace all the structural components of a rusted tight truck. I'll follow your advice. Thanks.
You know what, after I commented I went and double checked myself, and mine ARE like yours. Guess I hadn’t even thought about it before but it IS a weird setup.
Good job!I love these quick simple repairs
Quickly accomplished, looks good. Yourt truck will slog through the salt for another winter.
Helpful video thank you man!

What year was this truck? Mine is a 98 and the hood definitely unbolts from the hinges like any other vehicle. How odd yours were welded...
Mine is a 1998 as well. It's never been wrecked or apart so the hinges are oem on mine.

How long did that all take in real time
Maybe an hour or so. I don't remember, it was almost 2 years ago.
Man a lot of rust
