      The 2nd largest is actually Davis-Monthan Air Force Base AKA (The Boneyard) (4400 aircraft)
      Althought these aircraft are "Retired" don't confuse that with outdated, the majority are still newer than active service aircraft in other countries.
      So the US has the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd largest airforces.

    As a "former" US Marine, I can say, the US and our military LOVE our cousins across the pond, and only something beyond horrible would have to happen before we would ever take up arms against the UK. The English, Irish and Scots are our kinsman by blood, flesh and culture. I pray nothing could ever bring us to war with one another.

      Worse, the population of Canada was like 37-38 million in 2019. That is less than the population of California. They would be asking a vastly out manned military to invade America, one of the largest populations of civilian firearms ownership, in the hopes of forcing the invasion to stop. I'm not sure it would be recalled even if both Canada and Mexico coordinated an attack in secret. With the way intelligence is gathered now of days, the US would see large troop movements on it's border likely weeks if not days before any attack and would move to reinforce, especially with an ongoing war with Britain. Some of the largest US Army and Navy bases are in the Great Lakes and Nevada area. It's just not really feasible for those nations to provide what you are looking for.

    See, part of the reason Afghanistan and Vietnam were "Unwinnable" was because everyone who's invaded took care not to absolutely annihilate the civilian population. Any near-superpower could annihilate either of those nations if they didn't give a shit about civilian casualties. Also, for what it's worth, the Afghan war(uniformed warfare) was won in like 60 days.

    • @chaost4544
      @chaost4544 3 ปีที่แล้ว +101

      Exactly. Realistically the US could win a war really, really easily if it didn't care about killing tens of millions in the process. I'm not saying the US is innocent but there's no question in my mind they're responsible with their power in comparison with other empires who had real power. Does anyone thing Genghis Khan wouldn't have used the nuke if it was available to him? There's a theory that advanced civilizations don't advance beyond the nuclear age because they destroy each other. The world powers thus far have been pretty responsible with their power to the point we're living in one of the most peaceful times in world history.

      Yep and those countries had no real infrastructure to destroy in the first place. Now could the UK outlast the US in a guerrilla war over years until the US withrldrew due to costs and political factors (like Vietnam and Afghanistan)? yes of course. But the country would be rubble and everyone would be living in villages and burnt out cities.

    • @aindoria
      @aindoria 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @Wolong Gong . Defeating a nation in uniform warfare and occupation are two wholly different things. US defeated both Iraq and Afghanistan's uniformed armies in like 39 and 71 days or so. However, it's the occupation that took its toll.
      IF you want to count occupation as power of the war itself, then WW2 didn't end until either 1970s on Allies side and 1990s on the Soviet's side.
      Further, I already said that if USA wanted to, they could handily win the war, with utter devastation not caring for civilian casualties.
      >have fun trying to find them as they pick you off as they hide,Or y'know, you could just blast the entire area off.

    13:26 "Vietnam was lost in the living rooms of America." It's not that the US couldn't defeat north Vietnam(in fact they lost nearly 3 times the number of people that we did), it's that the civilians watching it all on TV back home couldn't handle what they were seeing and pressured the government to pull out of the war.

    • @ahoyforsenchou7288
      @ahoyforsenchou7288 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Na that's not why wars like Vietnam and Afghanistan were "lost" (in objectives, not casualties).
      Most wars America entered in the 20th century were meant to be sustained. We could have glassed Vietnam or the Middle East in a weekend, but that would put a damper on the CIA's poppy fields, the oil, the precious gems and gold, and the arms contracts.
      Regardless, American citizens and soldiers get a bad name due to the puppeteers. Everyone thinks *we* are the warmongers. Truth is, the American public isn't thirsty for war and pretty much never have been. Trump got elected largely due to being anti-war (and kept that promise). Goofy false flag attacks always have to be staged in order to change the sentiment of the populace from anti-war to pro-war.

    Side note from an American about Vietnam that I guess people don’t understand: Vietnam wasn’t actually a war, it was politics. They set boundary zones for the American troops that they didn’t let them cross (often forcing them into the worst case scenario missions and outposts) and very strict rules of engagement. For example the Vietcong would ambush US troops, run away across a boundary river, and taunt them from the other side. The troops couldn’t shoot across it. If no politics had been involved that whole “war” would’ve concluded in victory in about a month and been labeled an operation, rather than a war.

We wouldn't even need to mobilize to intercept them. Artillery bombardments alone would completely overwhelm them long before they reach the border. And even by some miracle they did happen to slip through all of our defenses, the only thing that would be waiting is pissed off Militia which would be easy to form considering there are over 400 million privately owned guns in this Country. They would literally have to be wary of every citizen they come across, because there's a high chance they would be armed.

This was literally just the Navy's military capabilities. That is insane! I might be wrong about that. I'll have to re-watch it and do a little research myself to get a better grip on the numbers. But if that's right, than that makes this even more scary, honestly. I've got some real Justice League, alternate timeline shit going through my head right now.

    The guy in the video got a few things wrong the US has 19 aircraft carriers 11 of which are nuclear. The F-35 can launch from any of the aircraft carriers and there is a special variant of the F-35 for the nuclear carriers. Each nuclear aircraft carrier can carry 80+ fighter jets not including helicopters and transport aircraft. The number of aircraft carriers isn’t entirely accurate as some older outdated carriers have been converted to amphibious assault ships, I’m not entirely sure how many of those are still in service currently.

    The thing about Vietnam is that the US was winning almost every major battle against the Vietnamese. We were dominating them at every major point, with them winning small skirmishes.
    Vietnam also has a bunch of underground tunnel systems, just like with Japan, this made it harder to bomb them.
    We “lost” the war because of all the anti war protests back home. We could’ve finished the war and gone him within the next year, but the higher ups back home were getting scared of all the protesting, so they decided to quit while they were ahead and pulled out. My grandfather told me it was one of the few days he was ashamed to call himself an American. We left the south Vietnamese to be conquered when we could’ve stopped it from happening.

    A lot of people don't know this, but the U.S. never lost a major battle during Vietnam. A few skirmishes and possibly some missions that failed, but no large battle was ever lost. But the politicians lost the will to continue and public opinion was turning against the war. The British government experienced similar loss of faith during Britain's war with the American colonists despite the fact Britain was clearly superior to the U.S. militarily, economically, etc.

    the interesting thing when you brought up Vietnam was the fact that the US was actually winning the war, the only weakness was the fact it was a war that the US populace didn't want to be in. This is why the US wouldn't take over the world slowly gobbling up countries even though it could. US citizens see ourselves as righteous people here to help the world, so random wars for no other reason than expansion is frowned upon heavily. We won the ground battle of Vietnam but lost the war back home, the biggest weakness of the US military is our "good" people funnily enough.

    • @jeffburnham6611
      @jeffburnham6611 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @imnevermakingavideo McNamara's policy, and Gen Westmoreland, was to set up static bases throughout the country to operate from, relying heavily on electronic measures to detect movement along trails. Once the enemy had been engaged and pushed back, they just let them reoccupy the same ground all over again. Combined with the policy of not attacking any of the Northern airbases or Haiphong Harbor where they knew the SAM's were coming into the country from, and you've pretty much tied the hands of the US military for political considerations.

    P.S.- Scotland. One thing you're not taking into account, almost everybody here in Appalachia America has name sake relatives in Scotland or Northern Ireland, I can see a whole lot of Americans taking lulls in the fighting to go search out these blood relatives, it becomes a whole lot harder to shoot a friendly, happy to discover their roots American than an anonymous person. A similar thing happened when we invaded Sicily, many Americans actually carried letters from home to give to direct family members if they could be found. The Sicilian Maffia was a tremendous help to get through areas unmolested for they had a lot of relatives in America.
